Is "dissertion" a word. I want to use it in one of the titles of my new poems, but the dictionary says it isn't a word.

    I swear it is...
    or was? LMFAO

    Any feedback please!?

the ability to comprehend or understand. I believe that is dissertation... correct?
    Maybe that's the word...
but it doesn't ring.... oh well. Thanks very much!

I think you mean "discern." To percieve or recognize something. A dissertation is a long essay or project about a specific subject.

    hmmmm..... thank you. :)

But the title of the poem, as it had stood, was "Critical Dissertion"
    It sounds right!?

    unfortunately, it's not a word : D

you could use "discernment," though. Or just think of another word you like better.

I say you patent the word, make your own dictionary, and burn down websters house *the guy with the dictionaries* and use it as your title and I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.

Shakespeare made up hundreds upon hundreds of words. Why can't you?
