Write for yourself and don't care about the voting system. Rarely go to the request forum unless you want a comment that tells you nothing about your poem. Don't complain if you are downvoted--you'll only be upvoted. Don't ask for harsher comments if you can't handle them.

I write for myself. I know people who write for an audience and usualy have the highest ratings yet their poems are usually some of the lowest quality. Somebody copared it to music. THe most pupular come to mind when heavily promoted.

Write for yourself. Fancy pixels and real-life mantel decorations mean nothing. Go for it!

i write for myself, if i didn't want to write poems, then i wouldn't post them here, this is a place where other people can help you with your poems, it's not all about ego.

I'm going to toss this into the ol' bucket.

I write my poems for myself. I submit poetry to this website in the hope of recieving contructive criticism, which seems to be a rare occurence. I detest comments filled with flattery. They are utterly pointless. I enjoy writing, it is never a burden. Improvement does boost my ego in a sense, for I take pleasure in feeling that I possess no limits.
