Me? Oh, no worries. I'm always annoyed. It's in my nature.

Downloading Music using P2P software (Limewire, metamorphous, etc.)

What is your outtake on it? Do you think that it is considered a type of piracy? Why or why not?

  • silvershoes

Yes, it is piracy, but I do it nonetheless. Musicians, I feel your pain, but music should be free! Long before Downloading Agents, people burned CDs, and before that, people recorded tapes from the radio. It cannot be prevented.

I don't mind buying band posters, T-Shirts, or paying for concerts...but somehow I feel music itself should not be payed for.

    Woot! You surprised me!

  • silvershoes

Haha! Wow, loot! I love it. Welp, I tend to think of woot as more a sound expressing excitement, pleasure, or shock. Seems I am wrong. Oh well...

Yowsers! Let me think. Not sure there is much a story behind that one. Yow!--When you touch something excruciatingly hot. "Sers" is a common informal add on to words.

That is a clear violation of the copyright law. I don't care how many excuses people try to come up with so they can get away with it. It's like working hard for money and having someone steal it. Or it's like writting a poem and having a copyright on it and having it stollen. But in this case, not just one person is stealing it, Millions are! That's a great deal of money these artists are losing.

Likely populists sob that prohibited downloading is a way of protesting the meager amount numerous artists obtain from the sale of their CDs; by that logic, it's acceptable to steal cornflakes since the farmer gets such a undersized cut.

Or it's like writting a poem and having a copyright on it and having it stollen.

    ^ I disagree.

Do I make you pay to read my poetry? Listening to music is not theft, it is shared appreciation. Same goes for reading poetry.

  • Italian Stallion

Listening to music is not theft, it is shared appreciation.

^ I agree, however; downloading illegally through a P2P program is theft when one' does not have permisson to do so from the Original Artist.

  • silvershoes

Perhaps you are right, and thus, I am a thief. I do not share my own files, simply take from others! Have you never had a CD burned for you by a friend?

  • Italian Stallion

Haha Jane, yes I have and I've burned CD's as well, But I do believe that it is not Illegal to burn a CD, as long as you are not selling it to make a profit.

And yes, I have used P2P software before. I just like debating lmfao

  • silvershoes

That is incorrect Joe, sorry to break it to you. Burning a CD only to keep all copies of that CD in your own possession is legal. Burning a CD, and possession of the music transferring between users is copyright infringement. Theft. Read your stuff.

  • Italian Stallion

Burning a CD only to keep all copies of that CD in your own possession is legal. Burning a CD, and possession of the music transferring between users is copyright infringement.

^ I already knew that, no need to tell me again.

  • silvershoes

But I do believe that it is not Illegal to burn a CD, as long as you are not selling it to make a profit.

^ This is untrue. So, why do you claim to know what you do not know?

  • Italian Stallion

    Actually that is 100% true.

It is not Illegal to burn a CD.

But if you are going to sell a burned CD to make profit (or just hand a burned CD to someone) it is Illegal.

  • silvershoes

Ah, ok, now you have clarified. Simply to 'make a profit' deemed the statement false. Now you correct yourself, and now you are correct! :D

  • silvershoes

Mmhmm. So anywho, I think I shall go. Take care of my thread, will you?

  • silvershoes

  • Italian Stallion

Hello Jane, I have been doing projects all day for school. And I will continue to do so until the wee hours of the morning.

    How about you?

  • silvershoes

Not much of anything. I woke up later, fed my animals, went online...and just got back from lunch with a friend. I should go see my horses. Then I'll sign online and continue to be online until the wee hours of morning.

  • silvershoes

Yes indeed. Joe, I have a question. I am sure I should have more Awards than are appearing. I feel I have made AT LEAST 50 comments on other member poetry, and I'm a bit surprised I haven't made 500+ comments on the discussion boards yet. Am I wrong, or do my Awards need updating? Is there a way, as a mod, you can check what my "numbers" are? Thanks.

  • Italian Stallion

Infact a lot of people have been questioning that, as have I. It is because Dainz hasn't updated the server, once the server has been updated, your awards will appear.

  • Italian Stallion

you mean with updating the server? I have no Idea, that is Dainz Job, I don't have access to do that.

  • silvershoes

Well, let us hope Daniz or Dainz or whatever that person's name is, comes back soon, because I'm ready to have a nervous breakdown. Where are my awards??!!?

    o.O

  • silvershoes

Give you a break? I can do that.

Lookin' like we'll have to start another thread soon!
