Erotic poetry

I think Bob has a point. After all, the act of intercourse is, at least, supposed to be about love.

Erotic books sell well if they are tactfully written. In my opinion, poetry should be no different.

    Actually.
    It's grotesque.
I would like to hear about the poem that you read.

And the other Erotic rape stories that are all the same 'He threw me down and pushed it in...' Ugh.

I totally agree with you here, Bob.

I believe that erotic poetry cannot be written with quality unless the poet has experience. So that should rule out the majority of this site due to age, however, that appears not to be the case, which is rather worrying for the philanthropist.

    No. Unless it's badly written.

    Anyways.
To these kids this site is a 'chat' site . . . notice how a lot of randomly disappeared because the chat did? Maybe we can weed ourselves of the people who don't care about poetry if we keep the chat away for awhile.
I loved the chat once, long ago, when my friends and I could talk peacefully, but lately [and I use that lightly] I would refuse to go in there because all the talked about was . . . to put it nicely, making love.

    It's rather disgusting.

That genre I wouldn't go into, but if you can, good for you.

I write loads of poetry without experience. If you compare your love to a blinding sunset in Tobago, for instance, that's inexperience. Think before you type. Erotic poetry however, is something I can justly write. And I'm not sure if I'm happy about that. Yet.

I think people should write whatever they want, at the end of the day if it helps them then it's good, and from what i've read on here i don't think that age makes any difference to if you can write a good erotic poem, unless you're like 10.

I write quite a few erotic pieces, but i like to think they are tasteful and romantic.
Thats what erotica is to me anyway =/

    I could be wrong.

I agree. When "erotic poetry" is written with class and tact, it brings about emotion and draws a reader in, like poetry should. When it's simply a brutally scrawled description of some fling, it doesn't deserve the title of erotica, albeit still poetry of a source.

And as far as modern-day perverted chatrooms go, I doubt the users can string together a coherent sentence, let alone a poem.

It'll take a while to think up a setting for this challenge, but I will produce a poem for this occasion.

Once again I agree with Bob,I think its another subject that can be used to create in your reader an emotional response, which is what I think most of us try to do,crude is ugly and repulsive(to me anyway) I haven`t tried it yet but I think Bobs words are a challenge.

Definitely. I looked up the aforementioned poem "Again" by Silver J and found it very impressive. The tact and choice of words is outstandingly apparent, and the whole thing flows beautifully.

I don't think that Erotic poetry is any diffrent then the rest. Anyway you look at it the poet is still writing about he/she's experiences or what he/she wants to write about.

Everyone tells me to write hardcore but I don't like to..I wrote only 3 erotic..but I didn't use actions on those....It's ugly in my opinion..if anyone wants to get laid with a thing,I think there are enough sites about it..Why would I use my poetry in it?.. I use just emotions and a little erotic..

I don't see why people have a problem with people writing poetry without "experience" in any type of poetry unless it's just ridiculous. Anyway... write what you want, how you want as long as it's comes from the heart, and don't worry about what others think.

I like reading erotic poetry, but I rarely write it. There are some suggestive lines in a lot of my poetry, like a line in one of my poems "slipping down and into me" but in this case it's speaking about a connection I have with the ocean and the water entering my soul and my heart, though a lot of people seem to mistake that poem for a sex story. It's about connection, an intimate connection, but not sex.
