Connotation Game

Connotation is the attitude or emotion that a word causes in someone who reads or hears it. Words can have a positive or negative connotation.

Denotation is the dictionary definition of the word.
    Ex: tasty-pleasing to the taste

For example, look at the following sentences.
    The meal was delicious.
    The meal was edible.

The denotation for delicious is very pleasing to the taste.
The denotation for edible is fit or safe to eat.

Both delicious and edible are synonyms for tasty.

Delicious is a positive connotation causing the reader to imagine a meal that is desirable to eat and is yummy. Edible has a negative connotation causing the reader to think of a meal that is not tasty, but is instead good enough to eat.

Which one would you prefer? Delicious meal or edible meal?

And that's the game. Gut feeling about a word, for example, would you rather be called cheap or thrifty? You could say thrifty because cheap sounds like an insult, or whatever. Get it?
    I'll start off.

Would you rather be called fat or plump?
Then you'd come up with your own and so on. Ask if you don't get it. hehehe

amethyst, in a way they are two different colors with two different tones. I think it's more like seeing scarlett as a different shade of red. :/ Not sure how to explain. I'm not sure if others agree, but it's how I see it, but that's kind of the point.
