    P & Q Article Section: http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/poetry_articles.html

    This is a much neglected area of this site and many members did not even know it existed.

    CHALLENGE OVER - but feel free to read through this and continue to write articles!!

    * * * * * * * * *

    There are two types of articles: How-to/informative and Opinion.

    I've given a brief description of each with some guidelines and then a couple suggestions.
    More than one member can use the given suggestions (but only the first to reserve it will get to use the title and Introduction given, others will have to use their own title and intro even though the subject is the same).

    For those of you not using the given suggestions, please post your idea for approval (You can email it to me via my profile if you'd rather not post it here.

    I will post a deadline after I see how many people sign up.

    Some general guidelines:

    1. Although the site doesn't have a requirement, for this challenge, I'd like the body of your article to be at least 500 words.
    2. Of course there should be no profanity or vulgarity in your article (even if you do an opinion article on the use of profanity/vulgarity in poem writing - which would be a very good subject idea!)
    3. You may use quotes from famous authors in your article, but be sure to cite them and where you got the quote from.
    4. Look through the posted articles and see how they were written. See what subjects were used and either come up with a different subject, or something new/different that was not covered in that article.

    If you have any questions, feel free to ask!!

    * * * * *

    HOW-TO or INFORMATIVE ARTICLES - Pretty much self-explanatory - Pick a subject and tell us how to do it, explain the difference between ideas, or introduce us to a new idea.

    Guidelines:
    *Do NOT plagiarize an article from another site or magazine, etc.
    *Be objective... dont let it turn into an opinion article.

    1. Title: Tongue Tied Over Tongue Twisters?
    Introduction: How to write meaningful, entertaining tongue-twisters that aren't just a bunch of words that start with the same letter.
    2. Title: If A Picture Paints a Thousand Words...
    Introduction: Then how many words does it take to paint a picture? A look at the artistry of words. (subject could be about imagery, metaphorical writing or simple descriptiveness.)

    OPINION ARTICLES - this type of article will not be fact-based, but will simply be your opinion on the subject.
    Guidelines:
    *Refrain from smashing the opposing opinion (ie: in the first suggestion about rhyming, feel free to say you prefer one over the other, but do not say the other is wrong.)
    *Present both/all options in a positive light (you can do this while stating pros and cons about them) and then state your preference and why.

    1. Title: To Rhyme or Not to Rhyme Introduction: That is the question that will forever be asked. Everyone has their own preference for what they like to read as well as which they prefer writing. Here are just a few of my own personal thoughts on the matter.
    2. Title: Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, Can Cliche Ever be New? Introduction: Some can do it beautifully, some fail miserably... but everyone thinks they can take the same fairy tale love stories and make them sound new. Here's what I think about it...
    (this could also be done as an informative article if you want to delve into how to take a cliche subject and make a fresh worthwhile read.)

    well, seeing as how I don't think anyone else is going to respond to this particular challange, if you think it is ready to be submitted, just submit it through the articles page.

    If you want me to proof read it first, send it to me via my profile.

    I will add onto my previous statement, so as not to put The Commenter's panties in a twist.

    Intriguing...I never knew about this area of the website, and I will most definitely look into it. However, I am quite busy today and have been quite busy lately, so I will be unable to participate any time soon. Good luck recruiting.

    Ann Marie,

    I would love to try this. If a picture paints a thousand words... how many words does it take to paint a picture. I will be sending it to you to get your opinion on whether it is good enough. I haven't ever tried writing an informative piece, but hey, there's a first time for everything.

    Is the topic, Why do you Write Poetry and What do you think Poetry is(opinionative and both questions in the article) ok? And can I use the opinions of P&Q members as well?

    Twisted, I got both your emails, and replied.

    and, Hawkeye, yes that topic is ok and you can use the opinions of members if they give you permission. You need only cite them if you directly quote them.
