Need help on a poem

I am trying to write a poem about being an outsider, so if anyone wants to give advice on how I should go about, by all means.

I know a friend who wrote something similar to what you mention. She used the method of personifying emotions and actions either to refer to the people in the poem, or how the emotion takes hold of her in the story.

For example you could say,
"Isolation grabs hold my heart, stead fast,
Whilst Misery, side by side with Ignorance, brush past."

I found it quite effective. I look forward to reading the result in due time.
