Prayer

I want you to write a prayer. A bedtime prayer or a mealtime prayer. Thanking the lord.

Try and make it short. Remember that it must be recited. So write accordingly. I'm looking for something that you would say at the end of the day just before you go to sleep, or say with your family around the dinner table or something. Similar, more creative ideas are appreciated too. (like saying a prayer for reaching home safely after going very far....etc)

I know this contest is biased, no athiests can participate (but if they want to, i'd love to have you) but keep the thread, dear mods.

10 prayers. Then the gate of heaven closes. Please make your way up the stairway by the third of April!

I have a poem written in the form of a prayer...but I'm not sure if it's what your looking for..but I'll post it just in case.

    ~Talking to the Lord~

They make it sound as if I don’t even care
As if even if I could I wouldn’t be there,
    I love her so much
But they don’t seem to see,
I wish you would take away her pain
And give it straight to me,
I’d do anything to relieve her
from the horrible feeling she feels,
But all I can do is pray to you Lord
Just pray that she finally heals,
    Hopefully someday they’ll realize
that I did care after all,
and that I did all I could to help her,
help her after that terrible fall.

Even though I'm not a religious person, I think this thread is pretty cool I enjoy reading about different types of contests. And so far, this one has been the most unique one. Good luck to the contestants. Occasionally I may come back and check to see how everyone is doing.

    HAVE FUN!

Hey you know what? I may join this contest tonight if I don't get crammaed with other things. My friends going through a dramatic moment, and life isn't exactly happy for her and her family. She feels betrayed.
Yea. So it's for her. But I don't want her to cry while reading this. I hope it turns out right.

    Well, talk to you later.

    Dear God,
    Tonight I ask of you,
    For the very first time,
If you can do me one favor.

I don't expect it to be simple,
But I expect you to have heart,
    Love your creations,
    Like sons and daughters.

    Please, dear God,
    Ease my friend's pains,
    Of the trouble she feels,
    And all her worries.

    I ask of you,
    To mend the heart,
    Of a broken friend,
    Who's been betrayed.

    She believes,
    You've let her down,
    And hurt the life,
    Of a family's loved one.

    Give this girl,
    Some faith in you,
    To cure the soul,
    Of a beloved friend.

    She's only a teen,
    And she already has
    Her own drama
    Beating her down.

She is trying to be strong,
    But she can't hold it all in;
    Give her peace of mind,
    By knowing you care.

    Help her friend,
    Mrs. Karen Pharr,
    Free herself of pain;
    An ill-fated cancer.

    Please, I will
    Only ask once,
    Knowing that this message,
    May not get through.

    But I have faith,
    That you will help,
    These two families,
    Breathe with comfort.

    Amen.

    ____
    Here's the story.
She just found out her mom's best friend has cancer for the second time. She isn't quite strong enough to go through chemo again. My friends worried like crazy. I really with the best for the families, and I would hate to see my friend hurt.

Do you think she would find it offensive our anything? Or strange? Cuz she knows I don't go to church?

What are your opinions on this?

    GodEatGod

Dear god do you want to tear your knuckles down
    And hold yourself

Dear god can you climb off that tree
Meat into the shape of a 'T'

Dear god the paper says you were the King
    In the black limousine

Dear John and all the King's men
Can't put you head together again

    Before the bullets
    Before the flies
Before authorities take out my eyes
The only smiling are you dolls that I made
But you are plastic and so are your brains

Dear god the sky is as blue
    As a gunshot wound

Dear god if you were alive
    You know we'd kill you.

I remember saying something like this when I was little:

    Dear Lord
    by K.H.

    Dear Lord...
    (deep breath)

    Thank you...

For the birds and the bees,
    The flowers and the trees.
    The land and the seas.

    For the cheery, happy mood,
As we wait to eat our food,
Which I know will taste so good.

    For everything I have,
For bro and mom and dad,
For the tears when I am sad.

    For all the precious days,
The fun in games I play,
    Within the house I stay.

    For sending us a dove,
    Straight from heaven above,
    Your neverending love.

    Thank you.

    Dear God Thank you
    Thank you
    for creating all of this
    Adam and Eve
    The Garden of Eden
    The Animals

    Thank you
    for the cleansing flood waters
    for Noah and the ark
    Animals 2 by 2

    If it were me
    I think
I would have let us perish
    No I don't think
    I know
    You gave the ultimate
    when you gave your son

    Thank you god
    for all you have done
    Thank you god
    Thank you

    Heavenly Father;

Mom taught me how to pray last week.
But, I can't remember too well.
So, I'll just do my best, Lord.

The easter bunny is coming soon.
And, tonight we almost had a full moon.
    Mom cried again today,
but, you told me what to say.
God, I made her feel better tonight.
And, she promised everything would be alright.

I got me a new lipgloss at the store.
And, dad took me to walk along the shore.
The waves were perfect today, Lord.
I did even think about his cancer.
Because, I know you have the answer.
And, you'll fix it all someday.

Lord, I ask you nicely, if my dad does die..
That you will not let mommy cry.
    She does it everyday already,
and, it really, really hurts me.
I'm sorry if this is a burden up there,
I'm sure there's a much more important prayer.

But, this one means a lot to me.
And, I hope I did this right,
because I think daddy might die tonight.

    Thank you Lord,
    Amen.

    A Family's Prayer...((for a soldier))....

Have you ever heard a mother
or a father pray for their son.
Or a little brother, sister or a wife
    for their loved one.

This is the prayer for a soldier
    from his family and friends.
As they pray in anxiety so that
    this long wait would end.

    (parent)
    "Dear Father up in heaven
    please protect my son.

    (wife)
    Please bring back my
    husband, just let this war
    be done.

    (bro/sis)
    Dear Father in the sky
    please watch over my big
    bro.

    (friend)
    Hold him in your protective
    hand, and never let him
    go.

    (parent)
Father, I beg you, that you
    bring him back to me.

    (wife)
    Let him come back home
for his kids he has to see.

    (bro/sis)
    God please watch him good,
cuz its not his time to die.

    (friend)
    Please don't keep us
    waiting, and bring him
    back alive.

    (parent)
Father, I leave him in your
hands, and may it be your
    will

    (wife)
    That you bring him back
to us, and my heart with
    joy would fill.

    (bro/sis)
    And remember to tell him,
    whisper this in his ear

    (friend)
That we love him and we
    miss him, and that we're
    waiting for him here...

    (((AMEN)))

Although they may not realize it
    but God listens with concern.
And he assures them with a promise
    that their soldier will return...
