Alright i just read stephen's post aobut his poem being deleted.. because it had ()'s in it.

i do not understand how those are special characters. and i have parenthesis(plural?) in the titles of a few of my poems.. the often say the type of poem(Haiku, Tetracys etc) but a few are simply part of the poem title : My Life (sorry it's so short) . now i know that this is drawing BAD attention to my poems.. but i want to know why parentheses aren't allowed..

    I understand poems like this:
    **~!~LOVE ME JASON~!~***

but i do not understand how having a subtitle or what form of poem it is in parentheses is against the rule..

    - darn i spelled deleted wrong..

Lauren, just calm down, hon.. I beleive it was said in the other thread that adding the type of poem is ok. Let me go look through your poems and see if thre are any other problems....

    Ok, Lauren, here's the deal...

on one poem you have (contest poem). That could be explained before or after the poem. It shouldn't be in the title.

Anything that clarifies the TYPE of poem or number in a series (Haiku, collab, song, story, Part 1) is ok.

Now, about your poem that has (sorry it's so short). If that's part of the title, then it's ok. If you are apologizing because the poem is so short, then it's not.

your Untitled poem should not have the -my first 'religious' poem after it. That can be explained before or after the poem, too.

There is a poem that has two titles that was from an old contest. I'd take away the 2nd title and just explain about that inside as well.

I think that's all the ones that were questionable.

I thought they deleted his poem because what was within the parenthesis sounded like a plea to read it...?

Yes, that is correct... one of the terms of submission is that you not put requests of any kind in your title... to read, comment, rate, etc...it's not the parenthesis, it's what is said.

    Ok i have a question.
I sometimes write (bulimia) after the title of the poem just so people know whats it about, Like "Right Then, Right There (bulimia)" is that ok?
If not could you please not delete them and ill edit them all?

I'll have to get mod consensus on that one.

I would say that a one word description is ok, but only if the category doesn't tell that. For example, if you wrote a Christmas poem, you wouldn't need to write (Christmas) in the title because the category and sub-category do that for you.

My only concern about allowing this is that people will start to write more.

One option would be to work it into your title: "Bulemia - Right Then, Right There"

Nah its ok, In the poem the "Right Then, Right There" is the repitition so that why i also used it as the title. Ill just edit them all and i wont use them anymore.
    Thanks for replying. :)
Anyways im off to edit now.

Thank you!! i changed the one.. but i cant scroll down to about half way(web security blocks it)

but i will edit them. =]

The 'My Life(Sorry it's so short)'

is about my life being so short, (the poem is too but thats not the reason it is in the title.)
