Okay I know what that is, I had just never heard the abbreviation like that. Anyways, yeah that's pretty uncommon in young people, it's mostly war veterans but of course for people have suffered severe situational trauma...that's pretty intense. I'm not sure just anti-depressants would work on that. |

Nope, but I have a bunch of other crap wrong with me. Try severe depression, ADD, and OCD. |

Yea i know what you mean, i have seen many different doctors and psychologists (from being in hospital) and each gave the same diagnoses with out knowing i had already been diagnosed with it...if that made any sense. so they are probably right. always good to get a second opinion |

Hey, i suffer too. i used to be in a really abusive relationship (thrown down stairs, that sort of thing) and he raped me a few times....he threatened my life tried to kill me...but thats why i have it. i was diagnosed not to long ago and i've had since 9th grade (now in 11th) and i was given anti-depressants and anxiety meds shortly after that. i never take them....i hate relying on things to solve my problems so my therapist just tells me to do what makes me happy. i write, i exercise, i hang out and avoid stressful situations, oh, and i meditate every morning. that works the best for me. i love sitting on my bed meditating to the sound of the wind. i'm a do it yourself kind of person...i stopped doing drugs on my own, stopped cutting, everything. so idk how much help i will be but thats where my situation stands. |

Yea it's always gud to talk to people about this stuff (on my behalf) i like hearing about other people going through the same thing as me. even though i was only diagnosed with it in 2005 i had been experiencing it before then i just didn't realise what it was and couldn't think were it could have come from as i had blocked out everything that had and was happening. but i'll leave it up to you if u want to tell me, if you do than just pm me. do any of you experience times when you dissociate as well? |

Yea wow, if they don't give u anything, that really blows. Hey shes a killer, funny to see you here. I'm no expert on PTSD, nor do I have it, but I'm very close to somebody that has one. You were tellin me bout all of that earlier, and that really really sucks. But thats good you overcame all that. The only that I have to say on the matter is that you prolly should take our meds though. Though I understand not wanting to rely on anything. But it seems to me that you really are strong. Keep up the good work :) |

My sympathy goes out to all that have PTSD, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, I've had it about as long as you, Tyanna.. It is a horrible thing to go through, I have panic attacks from it as well.. It can take over your life if you let it.. I never took anything for it, just found that helping others that have it, actually helps me.. My mom is VP of PTSDalliace.. And I used to research and help in areas I could.. It really does help.. Mine came from being in broken family, and stepdad being abusive in every way possible to me and my mother.. Not an easy thing to overcome.. But you can overcome.. I hope that you find some way to help.. It really never goes away, I still and always will have it. If you want to talk more, you can message me, or email me at CrazygirlAlly93@hotmail.com.. *hugs* talk to you soon. =) |

I was diagnosed with PTSD in 5th grade, for multiple reasons. I have been extremely strong, and trying to stay away from meds and beating it on my own. I write and sing, and involve myself in extra curricular activities and try to do what i can. I still go to a therapist every monday and she helps me so much. If you ever wanna talk or anything, just PM me. |

I was diagnosed with PTSD in January but I have had it most of my life. I was forced to go to a counselor in January when they diagnosed me with that and some form of depression. I refuse to take any kind of medicine though, I guess because I'm hard headed. SO my counselor said she doesn't believe in forcing teens to take meds. |
