Our backs become friends,
Because as this ends,

But in fact wallow in yesterdays.

The diverging paths we face,
Look so uninviting

There's the comparatively enticing

Where I've stood before.

And we took in the views
Of that long walk home.

That day, back in sun drenched June,
When we watched the light become moon,

I thought I'd won
But it'd only just begun.

And now I'm back to dreary October,
I hear, but don't accept, it's all over.
So as the sound of your footsteps
trail off...
I scream and I shout and I cough.

The leaves plaster the ground
And you think you heard a sound.

And it was my final bid,

All right. This sucks.
I just read the rule "has to be shorter than ten lines" and I did these on the bus and didn't remember that rule. F. But, I'm going to post it anyways and pray you take it, because I like how it turned out. =/ I'm really sorry.

I meant less than ten stanzas, so as in less than 40 lines, typical stanza is 4 lines, I will rewrite that rule to avoid more confusion, sorry about that.

Picture to Burn

An old man covered in the graffiti of age,
Stares intently at a photo album; page by page.
A single delicate tear rolls down his wrinkled cheek,
As memories come flooding back, making him weak.

His eyes close up tightly, as anger overpowers
His fragile body which has remained so sour
Over many years, probably twenty or more,
Since his wife brought his own brother through the door.

Seeing them in bed, his heart ripped in two.
What can be done, when family does that to you?
He left straight away, and never spoke of them again.
His world turned blue, filled with darkness and rain.

Now all that is left to remind him of the day,
When his own brother and wife took his happiness away,
Is a picture of the three of them, before that dreadful turn,
Yet now all it remains is another picture to burn.

Applying makeup in the mirror, she blinks away the salty tears.
Filling her eyes daily, they've been coming for many years.
Her porcelain skin is oh so white, as are her teeth to go.
Finishing the look with a smile, to hide what people don't know.

Her wrists are the only part of her, which display the solid truth,
Of hardships she has faced for years, and stole her of the youth
She deserved to have, while growing up, but it was not to be;
Instead she lives in her own cold world, to which no one has the key.

The other kids look on in wonder, not knowing the scars she bares;
Too locked up in their own confusion and worrying about their cares.
Everyday to hide, she does her best, to make her day worthwhile;
She shines her eyes, and glosses her lips, tied together with a smile.

With a pick in my hand,
A guitar on my knee,
I strum the strings,
And play a sad melody,

The story tells of a boy,
With no one to hold,
When the lights go out,
And the nights get cold,

Thinking out my past,

Childhood memories strike a chord,
Making me want to weep,

Something about this tune,
Is so realistically bizarre,
As I strum the final notes,
A teardrop falls on my guitar

You Don't Have To Call

Just watching an old couple passing me by,
Their tightly bonded hands make me cry.
When I ask him if we will be like them someday,
He says 'You don't have to ask,I'll be with you till I die.'

Hearing the true words of my mum in my head,
You'll end up frustrated if you soon head him to bed.
When I tell him if something will happen someday,
He says 'You don't have to think,I'll be with you till I die.'

Going to my best friend's house for her birthday with gifts,
But I got confused when I saw her hesitating eyes.
When I tell her that I'll call her if there is anything that ties,
She says 'You don't have to call,It will be a secret till i die.'

Getting shocked when I see him naked after the doorbell,
Janitor tells us that he just jumped off from this floor.
When I tell them I can't understand it as I slam the door,
They say 'You don't have to understand,we'll be together till we die.'

I never forgot about it in the first place, Josie. I've got it half done in a word document, I just need to finish it when I have some free time. A lot has been happening with full days working on top of it all, I'll get it done.
