    That little box.

    Stormy nights the thunder sounds,
    breaking trees from the grounds.
    Fearful tears fall so gently
making the box bend more immensely.

    Bright lights fill the night,
    the lighting sending fright.
The little boy finds a home,
    roaming the streets all alone.

Tired and weak he takes a break,
not knowing that his life is at stake.
The lighting strikes, one is dead..
another awaking in a soaking wet bed.

The little box housed the boy,
but for him there was little joy.
For, the previous owner left a will
written across the side slanted as a hill.

'This box goes to the one that slept alone last night,
I carried him here, hoping he'd be alright.
I took his place up on those steps,
and left him with a box dripping wet."

The boy slowly felt the salty tears falling.
He could not believe what he was reading.
Such a kind old man, with no where to go.
Had a heart of gold that the boy wanted to know.

His box sits up right inside his three bedroom home.
With his wife and kids, he's never alone.
He tells the story to those who stare..
For, who knew a homeless man could even care.

Box of The Forgotten (Story of a Teddy Bear)

    I was once young.
    You used to love me
    And hug me,
Make sure I had my bath
And that I was snuggly tucked into bed.

    But as the years passed
    I became old,
    Forgotten,
    Tattered and tainted,
    Dragged through the mud.

    And now I lay here
    In the dark
    With the others you've forgotten.
I might have lost an eye,
But I can still see -

You think I am no longer of use
    You've found someone new.
    But as the years pass
They will end up in this box too,
Tattered, torn, tainted, old and forgotten...

Down in the dark dampened street,
    Where thirty-fourth and second meet,
There's an old tattered cardboard box,
That smells like dirty workers socks.

And he hides inside, from the rain,
Covering his eyes from all of his pain,
And he holds a sign up to the crew,
Saying: "Will work for a bite of food."

His hair is a mess, he's missing teeth,
    Ninety pounds soaking wet, hardly breathes;
People walk by, shoot a disgusted look his way,
They'd never think to stop and ask him about his day.

And there's tears lining his blue eyes,
Tied together with a broken smile, he sighs,
"Another hopeless day with nothing to eat,"
He sits down with his box on the dirty concrete.

And me and the boys, we know his morning glory,
We've stopped to talk, heard his forgotten story,
"I haven't always lived in a box," He sorrowfully cried,
But we'd never tell him that we knew he lied -

He never lived in New York City with a wife,
Nor was he a memorable actor for all of his life,
His Mom and Dad, they weren't mad for each other,
And he never threw himself at a bus, saving his brother.

But if there's one thing I know is true, it's his smile,
And the way he felt when he ran that hundred miles,
Telling us that story, tears clouding in my eyes,
I knew I'd remember this man and his shattered disguise.

Standing here today, with a smile I stare
To the concrete, now desolate and bare,
And people walk by, but they don't know,
He once sat there, with nowhere to go.

Hmm...can the box represent something....like...a room...and the box is the walls that someone is trapped inside?

    Boxes and Triggers {Nove Otto}

A plastic heart you may find,
    With a clock that can unwind;
Both beat quickly with a vigor.
    Sleepless nights you will assume,
    In a box you'll always loom;
    Listen to the thumping rigor.

Jump in your box of safety,
But do not be quite so hasty
To pull that oh, tempting trigger.

    --------------------------------------

The Nove Otto poetry form was created by Scott J. Alcorn. It is a nine-lined poem with
8 syllables per line (isosyllabic). The rhyme scheme is as follows: aacbbcddc.

    Musical Box

Moon chases sun to hide the light
Dark spreads covering all the white
Makes me feel so sad instead
Trying to get this rhythm off my head

Saving a little money day to day
I will go away but not today
Makes me feel so bad instead
Trying to get this rhythm on my head

Like a fairytale frays all time my mind
What if he can see my wings intertwined
Makes me feel so mad instead
Trying to get this rhythm off my head

After that days there were always fight
At home my husband learned all that ignite
Makes me feel so good instead
Trying to get this rhythm on my head

But one day all the hopes got to drown
Life is always there to make you frown
Makes me feel so dead instead
Trying to get this rhythm off my head

It's my musical box,my only happiness
From the one watching from above with bliss
Makes me feel so sanctified instead
Trying to get this rhythm on my head

    Xx A Little Box xX

The lights are dimmed down for the atmosphere
The romantic mood is heightened this year
A candlelight dinner, a table for two
A rose in a glass is glistening with dew

Two years together, still madly in love
Still see each other as gifts from above
He kisses her gently and pulls out her chair
Doing his best to show her he cares

He brings out dinner, a magnificent sight
Pasta and wine bathed in flickering light
They clink their glasses, an amorous toast
He's enjoying his role of the perfect host

They finish dessert, a dark gateau cake
It had taken him hours to perfect and bake
She smiled, thanked him with a tender embrace
With a loving smile spread across her face

They retired to the sofa, happy with bliss
Laughing and talking and sharing a kiss
He ran his fingers though her glossy locks
Before reaching behind her to pull out a box

He opened the box as her eyes opened wide
A shining pink Topaz was gleaming inside
A heart shaped rock with diamonds around
She gasped as he dropped one knee on the ground

When he asked the question, she screamed out "Yes!"
Threw herself at him and cried on his chest
Ecstatic tears at becoming his wife
All it took was a box to change their whole life

    Little cigar box

In the back of the closet,
    on a high shelf,
    sats a little cigar box
    which is unknown
    by anyone else.
    There inside lays pictures
of the woman I once was,
    Old love letters
    from lovers long gone.
    That little cigar box
    sitting on a high shelf
in the back of my closet
    has things from yesteryear.
There they sat for safe keeping.
