Confused...

I'm not sure if poetry is actuall yhelping me to become any happier.
Sure, it relieves all this built up tension. And obviously it is helpful, or else I wouldn't write it.
But somehow, after I finish writing a sad poem or something, I just feel sadder...
So I've come up with a new technique. I'm trying to write happy poems when I'm depressed.
I personally find it really helpful. First off, its a challenge as a writer. And I love challenging myself with my poetry. And secondly, it really does make me feel happier...
But nevertheless, sad poetry is still an easier choice, and it helps also.
    Confused!!!

You could... write a sad poem, to relieve the tension... and THEN write a happy poem!

I like the idea of writing happy poems, seriously. Yes, life involves happiness and sadness, but we people sometimes have a tendency to forget the happy part. Props to you.

I used to write heaps when i was suffering from depression alot of my poems i ended up burning but some are posted on here, it never really helped me though like you it seemed to make me feel sader but it was a release. If you find something that helps you be happier then keep doing it haha seems like the smart thing to do : )

I feel the same way, but I laugh a lot; so, I can write anything and laugh right after I'm done. But maybe I should try that.

My poetry comes straight from my heart... it is usually baised on what I am thinking and feeling at that moment...
