Seven people will be chosen to go to the next round.

Styles:
Rhyme Royal: Consists of 7 lines each with 10 syllables. Rhyme scheme is ababbcc

Triolet-Consists of 8 lines. The 1st, 4th and 7th line repeat. The 2nd and 8th line repeat as well. Rhyme scheme is abaaabab

Huitain-Consists of 8 lines with 8 syllables per line. Rhyme scheme is ababbcb

Parquette- 4 stanzas each containing 4 lines. First line of the poem repeated in each stanza as the first line. Each line except the first has 10-12 syllables. Rhyme scheme is AbcaAbcbAcbcAbcc

Lento- Consists of 2 quatrains. Rhyme scheme is Abcb Defe. To go further but not required, try rhyming the 1st and 3rd lines as well as the 2nd and 4th so that the rhyme scheme is abab cdcd. The fun part of this poem is that all the FIRST words of each verse should rhyme.

Essence-Short structured form of 2 lines, 6 syllables each with an end rhyme scheme. (But remember this has to be a quadruple Essence)

Ottavia Rima- Consists of 8lines. Each line has 10 or 11 syllables. Rhyme scheme is abababcc

Kyrielle-French form of rhyming poetry written in quatrains. Each stanza contains a repeating line or phraze as a refrain (usually appearing as the last line of each) Each line has 8 syllables. No limit to the amount of stanzas a Kryielle can have, but 3 is considered the accepted minimum.

Nonet-Consists of 9lines. 1st line has 9 syllables, 2nd line has 8 syllables, 3rd line has 7 sllaybles etc until line 9 finishes with 1 syllable. Rhyming is optional. (remember this has to be a double nonet)

Rictametre-9 lines syllables going 2-4-6-8-10-8-6-4-2 Line 1 and 9 are the same.

Sedoka-Unrhymed poem made up of 2 3 line stanzas with syllables going 5-7-7 5-7-7 (remember this one is a double sedoka)

Lyrics-Song lyrics.

Acrostic-Formed by writing a word vertically down the page.

Shadorma-6 unrhymed lines, syllables going 3-5-3-3-7-5 (Remember this has to be a triple Shadorma)

Double Etheree- 20 lines, syllables going 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1

It is dark and I can't see a thing,

Broken and bruised, her blue eyes cry,
She looks up to him, asks him why,
And down on the floor, she's on all fours,
Begging and pleading, can't take anymore.
He stands above her, hatred in his eyes,
Cursing her for seeing through his lies,
But with dust covered cheeks and a cracked heart,
She stands, she won't let him break her apart,
And she looks at him with eyes blood shot red,
Finally screams the words running in her head,
And she says:
