What do you guys think about when you write a poem out of

Your imagination and people think it`s YOUR life story and tell you to feel better? Well, one things for sure, i feel really uncomfortable because i`m NOT in that situation and i didn`t write "TRUE STORY" or anything on the bottom and people think it`s about me and console me when i don`t need consolation.

I think about how the issue make me feel and then i write what i feel

I don't think it is anything to be insulted by. It just shows that they have related to your writing and you have reached them someway. JUst say thanks for your kind words, but it is not my story, if it makes you that uncomfortable.

Well, Carrie, I would think it depends on the nature of how someone has reacted if they assume that your words are that of your past actions. If they start talking like they have a lack of respect for you due to what has been entered in your poem, that doesn't deserve being given the time of day. But with a polite question about whether there is an underlying true story to your poem, then happily explaining it to them is, I agree, nothing to be uncomfortable with.

Case in point, people can go a little silly into that kind of thing. For instance I read a poem about a woman's father murdering her sister and then turning onto her, in which someone asked if it had happened to her...
