Forcing A Topic

I've seen many people do contest poems. I don't think it's a good idea, personally. Almost like trying to get yourself out of the writer's block. The faster you run, the farther away from getting back into writing you become.

Do you think forced topics/writing's are resourceful or, in the long run.... traumitizing?

I find it helps me out of writers block when my mind is blank and an idea is handed to me on a plate, lmao

I'm just starting to get back into my "Serious writing" after challenges for childrens poems and new forms caught my attention. Now i'm ready to get back into writing like I used to instead of once a month or so.

I think that it just depends.. if a poet sees a title and then forces a poem to go with that then I think that its a bad idea but sometimes the titles are inspiration for another poem and then thats a good thing. It just depends on the poet and what they chose to do with it.
