Lovely Bones

I just recently completed the novel, The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebol, and, (for those of you that read it) how many of you were utterly disappointed with the ending? It's like Sebold simply got tired of writing and brought in supernatural events to make bring the book to a close. Not to mention the fact that the book really had no climax and no closure. It started so well!!

Susie shoudn't have come down from heaven to have sex with some guy she liked when she was 13, she should have exploited Harvey and then killed him herself. Amen.

I know what you mean. I'd like to tell you it gets better, but it's doubtful.
    Where are you in it?

Although I do love this book, I agree.

The ending was crap, haha. I mean, the story as a whole has that "unrealistic" thing going on, but at least it made some sort of sense. The ending, though, that was just stupid.

"and i was just about to say that the ending was my most favourite bit!"

Well, each to their own opinion. I was just highly disappointed in the ending. I was expecting much more, but I guess that was my mistake. I still really loved the book as a whole, I was just expecting the ending to be different than what it was.

A novel in the fiction section. I found I was spellbound, and had a problem putting it down.

I read that book several years ago, and there is a song by Celine Dion that fits the story and mood perfectly. Yeah, I know...weird.

    What's it about?

From what I remember, it's about a girl who "falls in love" with a boy...then soon after, is savagely raped and murdered by a man who lures her into his self-made cave in a deserted field type thing. The main character is then in heaven while her family mourns on earth, and her killer walks free...I think continuing to rape and murder other girls. I forget the conclusion as to that, but I know the main character enters her friend's body near the end of the book and makes love to the boy she loved while alive. He knows it's her inside, not the friend. Yep.

I have read this book. I just finished it last night actually. I loved the beginning so much. I was addicted to reading it, like I get with most books, but it did get disappointing near the end.

The beginning really got to my head about the whole death thing. Make me cry a few times, not that I should admit to that haha. But I do agree, the ending, although once I finished it, I didn't think it turned out that badly, but it was very unexpecting on what happened with Susie. Very unreal for what the rest of the book was.

Anyway, enough from my ranting. I thought it was a pretty good book. But your idea of how Mr Harvey should have died was a great idea I must say. I didn't like what happened in relation to him at all.

    Hmm good book though. =]
