What do you think about underaged drinking?
Is it really all that wrong? It's a huge issue these days around here, and I just wanted to know your thoughts ..

    I don't drink just because, well. I don't drink.

No one in my immediate family has ever had an alcoholic beverage.

A lot of my peers are just immature, and think that drinking is game, so for them, yes it is really that wrong.

Drinking too much alcohol, destroying brain cells, and organs, is not a game.

But, you put a different spin on it, you made it seem very innocent, just like drinking tea every once in a while.
So if under aged drinking is done by people who seem to be as responsible and mature as you seem, then I don't think that it is that much of a big deal.

Alcohol isn't a good drug, not at all but it's very easy to get and we are all lazy.

I think it's a social lubricant, and who needs a bit of that more than akward teenagers right? If it were up to me I'd have it banned, erased from history, I really don't like it, even though I drink sometimes, and even get drunk sometimes, it's only because it's very hard not to if you want to fit it, which we all do.

And besides, if you don't drink when you are young, or if you are stopped or inhibited from it...I garantee you will go crazy for it when you get older because you won't have any experience mixed with a desire to make up for lost time.

Finally, what are you gonna mess up so bad when you are under 20 that you can't bounce right back from?...I mean, you aren't going to forget your kids or lose a job right?

Alcohol is a good release, a good escape from reality, I won't pretend that it's not. It's also a huge addiction. Many of my friends can't go a weekend without being intoxicated. However, I don't think that drinking necessarily leads to all of those things. I drink, but I don't do drugs or have random sex, or any sex at all for that matter, nor has alcohol ever made me consider doing those things. Perhaps it's because I'm not a heavy drinker, but I've never felt that alcohol was a gateway to drugs and sexual experiences.

Alcohol can ruin families. Two of my uncles are alcoholics, one of which was sent to rehab by my grandparents and he, to this day, resents the rest of the family. He remains completely disconnected from all he once knew. However, he's an adult ... his alcoholism started when he was an of age, legal adult. I don't think that the negative effects of alcohol limits itself to teens that aren't of age to be drinking. I don't think it's necessarily appropriate to be going against the law, but I also find it interesting that we're considered adults at 18, with the ability to vote, smoke, participate in the lottery etc. yet alcohol is still limited.

I'm not saying it's right because, as hypocritical as it may sound, I don't think it is. I do it because it's socially accepted and at this day and age, most people don't consider a party a party unless there's alcohol there. It sounds pathetic, but that's what has happened over the years. Morals and values are slowly evaporating ...

I've drank for years on and off, sometimes to where i black out. sunday night i got entirely too drunk and had the worst hangover (which i dont usually get) ... drinking isn't too appealing to me anymore, though ill prolly do it again. i like writing on alcohol and different substances, if im able

i dont think i should have been allowed to drink, though it would and will happen. i would like to see cannabis where drinking is ... a lot less impairment, granted you can use it wrong and become a potatoe chip on a couch,..

Here is not a big deal or anyway for me
Cause I don't even get drunk although I drink so many things-one night we tried it with my dad,my dad was about to black out but I didn't even feel dizzy-..and angelina is right...It doesn't matter the age, only thing that matters that if you know how to stay a HUMAN when you do it

"What do you think about underaged drinking?
Is it really all that wrong?"

Actually it is, not only does it affect you psychologically, but puts you at risk as you become older. I think children and teens today believe that it's their life to do as they want. But what they fail to see is, that their life is the future.

And we all know what the future enfolds.

Alcohol is a drug, and most drugs can be abused just like everything else in this world

Many people that abuse drugs will go to prison and develop financial, medical, and emotional problems.

I am not going to preach to you on the moral issues, but most people that have not fell into the trap of experimenting with a substance, that can gain control by altering the judgment centers of the brain, do not view addiction as a disease, or an unhealthy condition of the mind.

I don't know as many of the AA slogans as some, but have enjoyed over four years of recovery

No doubt I will be attacked as a drunk that wishes to share the sad stories out side the meetings with pseudo intellect, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Just be careful what you choose, and plan your destiny before you leap

Hopefully no one will fall into the trap of self-harm, but if you do. I would advise you to live with spiritual humility rather than die with worldly pride.

I'm finished and I am ready for verbal abuse.

Abusing drugs and alchohol is really bad...

though, my mom is a docter and many people i know have had problems with alchohol... none of them my immediate friends, but soo
actually, if you drink like one beer a day... a glass of wine a day.... well you know what i mean, if you keep your drinking controled and don't go overboard, it is actually good for u... it strengthens your kidneys and in that way is good for your immune system....
and some drugs are actually good for pain reliever... like if you really have severe horrible pain you can take marijuana and it will help... so i think they should at least be able to prescribe it for medical issues.......
    so yea.....

    Hmm.
    Is drinking alcoholic beverages good?
Um, well, I've never heard of an instance when it was... but, what do I know? Haha!

Underage drinking. Yeah, I think that's wrong.
At least, I think it's wrong if the person does it without permission in a reoccuring pattern.
I'm not actually fond of it. At all. I think, from what I've tasted, it's all rather nasty.
I understand the drive for it, though. People have a tendency to want what they know can't[or, at least, aren't supposed to] have.

I don't have that issue, though. My mum has told me countless times, that if I ever want to experiment with alcohol or drugs, she'll let me, as long as I'm home, safe with her, and they aren't addictive.

    Hehe. Sweet of her.
But, maybe also wise. Cause as far as I know, neither my sister nor I ever had much of a drive to go out and get drunk or high.

Really, I don't think it's the alcohol that's the issue, I think it's just the uneducated people making poor decisions, (me being one of them) and I think that if we took the time to research it's impacts, we wouldn't be so qucik to open a drink and pop it down. Nothing good comes out of it, ever. A good time? Maybe once, here and there, but nothing ever substaintial. It's not the alcohol that's my issue, it's my own naive stupidity. We should take responsibility for our actions and not blame the substances we turn to.

    okay? yesss, i'm done.

Hmm... there was a German exchange student in my French class earlier this year...
She was really nice, but, man... She told us some crazy things
She was a Junior... [This is highschool, people.]
So, she must have been, oh, 17? Maybe 16, even.

She said that she had been drinking since she was 14 or so. She talked about going out and getting drunk at bars and such. Seems a little strange to me. She said that she wasn't breaking any laws by going out like that...[[Mind you, she said she wasn't breaking laws when she was 16...]]
    But, maybe that's not true?
    Oh, I don't know.

    Just thought it was interesting.

I wonder what the lowest drinking age is....?
    Hmm.

I used to drink underage, I never used to go into clubs or anything but I would go to a party or what not and have a few drinks there, its not such a bad thing, its a bit of fun for teenagers who cant go into town and just want to hang out with there mates, but yeah, its only ok to a certain point. to drink is ok but to drink to get drunk isnt good. when you drink to get drunk you tend to have all your drinks quickly than still feel sober enough to down another lot. On the news here a few weeks ago was a headline about another teen death through alcahol, This child of 15 was at his mates party and they started playing a drinking game, this kid had to down 100 vodka shots in 100 seconds, now that sounds like stupidity to me but anywho the kid did it, well not all of it, he made it to 70 odd drinks and than went and passed out on the front lawn, next day he was dead, alcahol is a very dangerous drug for people who still think they are bulletproof underage drinking is only ok to a certain point.
