Do you start with the title and then write the poem |

I normally write a poem first and then I make up a title for the poem.. |

Well you'd choose the title first, why? It sets the parameters for the poem. Unless of course you choose the poem by the first line like Emily Dickenson or you could use the topic of your poem as your title. Personally I find choosing the title first easier. |

I definitely write the poem first. Titles can be annoying, to me... sometimes they work to give the poem a clearer or more interesting perspective, but sometimes they're just... there. I have trouble thinking of them sometimes, as well. Often I just take a phrase from the poem, and say "there you go!" |

I usually write the poem and then decide on a title. However when I do start with a title I usually tweak it a few times after I finish the poem. |

Most times that I have inspiration for a poem it will be the body of the poem that forms in my mind and then transcribed to script, only then will I think of a title for the poem. |

I always write the poem first. I might have an idea for a title, but I usually make the title last, so I know it matches the poetry |

It depends. If I know how this particular poem is going to turn out, I can decide on a title. But if I'm just in the mood to write, I write it, edit it, then title it once I'm finished with it completely. |

I usually start with an idea or a phrase, write the poem, then find a title that helps the poems intentions, the most. |
