With alcohol I think it depends on the extent to which you drink and how often. Alcohol has the potential to be addictive and ruin lives. Even people who are not alcoholics are frequently problem drinkers.

If you are talking about occasionally having two or three drinks or the equivalent, normally that's fairly benign.

My experience with pot is minimal and I didn't care for the effect of it at all.

They both are absolutely horrible. Neither is right or worse than the other. Both damage your body, and both are wrong.

drinking is by far worse...Smoking pot does not mess up your mind, it calms you down almost like ridilin. Smoking Tobacco is worse then pot, more addictive. Drinking can poison you and causes more rapes and car accidents then pot. Pot is not good for your lungs, but alcohol is'nt so well for your liver either.... They are both bad I think, but drinking is just a step ahead...

idk about pot, but drinking effects your brain faster (reaction time, common sense, balance, judgment, etc...) than pot. drinking can make you moodier and pot usually just makes ya silly and messes with your judgment. Drinking you have hangovers, pot you have munchies. Drinking is legal, smoking pot isnt. thats all i know 4 sure

Drinking is by far worse. It affects your liver and can cause cancer and all sorts of problems. Marijuana on the other hand does not actually harm you physically. It has soothing qualities that help ease pain, and that is why you can actually obtain it as a prescription in some places. I think it is only a matter of time before it is legalized.

I can't help but notice that almost everyone here is talking about habitual or excess use of alcohol or pot as though that is the only way for these substances to be used.

    To Pornstar..

You said that pot f*cks up your lungs and your brain, drinking doesn't.

This is just not true. Pot does not affect your brain except to enhace the way you feel. Drinking does the exact same thing. But pot is a completely natural thing. There are no cases of death caused by smoking pot, however, people have died from drinking alcohol and getting liver damage. Pot is not like cigarettes the way they kill your lungs, because pot does not have tar, cyanide, etc. in it. There are just so many myths about marijuana. It's not even physically addictive... Only mental. If weed was so dangerous, then why is it used in paper, necklaces, rope, etc. And why is it given as prescription drug? Like I said, I think it is only a matter of time before it is legalized.

I've seen three of the "Knowledge: the anti-drug" commercials that relate to marajoowanna, and the one thing that strikes me about all of them is that you can swap "marijuana" with "alcohol" and you have a "don't drink, numnuts!" commercial. The voiceover chick says, "Marijuana, it's more dangerous than we all thought." I'm thinking, "From what I've seen, you haven't shown it to be any worse than alcohol."

Let's take a look at the three commercials I've seen:

    1. Dude's at one of those ubiquitous roadside memorials. Turns out he was driving while high and killed his bro.

Message imparted: "Don't smoke the weed!"
If this were alcohol: "Don't drink and drive."

    2. Crash test in reverse. During the course of the commercial, we will discover the root cause of this completely unexpected crash in a controlled environment. Aha! Those crash test dummies were smokin' a fattie while engineers in clean suits worked furiously to send them hurtling into a concrete wall.

Message imparted: "Don't smoke the weed!" or "Only dummies smoke the weed!"
If this were alcohol: "Don't drink and drive" or "You could learn a lot from a dummy. Buckle up."

    3. Two people pace nervously while awaiting the results of a pregnancy test. In a surprise twist, the woman awaiting the test results is the mother of a teen chick who got high, had sex and got pregnant. The punchline: The two people we saw will be the youngest grandparents in town.

Message imparted: "Don't smoke the weed!"
If this were alcohol: "Drinking impairs judgement. Drink responsibly." or "Don't drink if you're under age" or "Use protection if you're going to get drunk and screw."

Amazingly enough, this commercial also has a pro-life subtext in that it's expected the baby will come to term and be born, else we wouldn't be calling these folks, "grandparents." If the end of the commercial featured a narrator trying to sell you a Bible courtesy of the Church of Latter-Day Saints, we could've hit for the cycle.

The only reason why its made out to be "bad" is becasue they can't tax it. This of course in the good Ole' America. If you can't tax it, its bad for you.

I would say that drinking is worse for you. Just from a medical point of view.

Now if you go by the bible belt way they both are bad for you.
