Dance Hall Drug

The dance hall inside is jumpin';
A real wild night they've got goin' on,
And it's only just left ten-thirty,
They'll be going on 'til way past dawn.

The arms in the air are swingin',
The music has taken control.
Not a single person is tiring,
Eager to reach their party goal.

The music is keeping them up,
It's their nightly dance hall drug.
Everybody's happy, smiling, dancing,
Full of kisses and big strong hugs.

The party's only really gettin' started,
Nearing twelve it'll be on full swing.
Friendships being made, maybe a little more,
This could even be the start of a naughty fling!

A rumble of low thunder
Announces it's about to start

A flash of lighting cracks
And the heavens begin to bawl
Another roll of thunder
Escorts the harsh rainfall

The sheet of rain speeds up
As the thunder grumbles through
A fork of blue light flashes
And splits the sky in two

It shows no sign of stopping
As it rages through the night
Pitch black with rumbling noise
Lit up with sparks of light

As the morning approaches
The thunder becomes a quiet sound
The storm clouds start to disappear
As the rain starts to die down

Meet up with friends who could get away with murder
If they had the motivation
But today is for the moment

To do something spontaneous for once

Broken Man

Wrinkles on his tender skin,
Eyes that are blue and yellow.
Thin lips that no longer manage a smile;
He's just a sorry, broken fellow.

Family: deceased, for quite some time, he's
Living out the remaining years alone.
He's the image of a teddy, lost in the dark;
Battered with age and so very worn.

He sits in an armchair all night and day,
Watching as life passes on by.
Trying to be positive, could life really be this bad?
Yet all he achieves is tears in his eyes.

Through the elderly years that he has lived,
To make it happy, he's done all that he can,
Yet all he's managed to do, all he's become
Is a tired and lonely broken man.

Heals Over Head

Trailing through the thickets, pulling flowers from her hair
She dashes from the meadow screaming "this isn't fair"
Another night of bruises, another night of booze
Her body is so injured, she doesn't feel her own blood ooze

Her golden sunshine hair, is now in peaces on the floor
He yanks her around, even as she screams "no more"
He gets off on her pain, seeing the tears fill her eyes
Another night of black and blue, another midnight lie.

Come morning light, the ivory concealer covers up the truth
Painting on her face, she looked like she was back in her youth
With her midnight black liner, and her deep blue eye shadow
She hides who she really is, and tucks her true self down below

She searches for her smile, and pastes on some laughs
But with in her eyes, you can always see her two halves
A side where she's smiling, but she hanging by a thread
Or the other... where her heals are already over her head

We'll take showers of heroin with a touch of ambition that's way too much.

The showers of disappointment are rocking your boat,
And Jonah's sinking the whale with a bit of lost faith,
We'll throw our hope and whistle while we work;
You've got yourself left with poison rain and a pale little smirk.
