Beatle Mania Round 2

    CLOSED-CLOSED-CLOSED-CLOSED-CLOSED-CLOSED

    RESULTS AT THE BOTTOM...

Beatlemania has hit your computer screens. This Fab Four were at the top of the charts in the 1960's. I just thought I'd bring them back.

This is going to be a 4 Round contest.

    Rules:
    1. One person per title
    2. Any style
    3. Should you actually know any of the lyrics, you're NOT allowed to use them!
    4. The deadline for this round will be Lucky Friday the 13th July.

This is going to work a bit differently from most more-than-one-round contests. I am going to be taking a maximum of 30 poems to the next round. It doesn't matter if more than 2 of the poems I have chosen were done by the same person. It just means that that person gets to submit twice again in the next round. (Which will be a 2 title per person round: hence that person will be able to choose up to 4 titles). Make sense? If not, PM me.

Round 2: Max 15 poems go through to Round 3
Round 3: Max 6 poems go through to Round 4
    Round 4: Top 3 announced.

Congratulations on all of you making it through to the next round!!!!!!

The number next to your name is the number of poems you will be allowed to choose in this round:

    *Gem* (Max2)
    Sandy (Max4)
    debbylyn (Max6)
    Espoir*failed (Max4)
    Britt (Max2)
    Jenna (Max6)
    Charisma* (Max6)
    SecludedSerendipity (Max2)
    xTheEcstasyofSuicidex (Max2)

This amount is the maximium number of poems each poet may choose, but it is NOT a must. If you choose to take less titles, that's completely up to you. But I will only be putting up 35 titles, so first come first serve, so to speak. if needbe (say everyone takes there max amount) I will then post more titles or open it to 2 per title. But we'll see when we get there, k? :)

    Good luck!!!

    Ok.
If I may change the name a bit of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" [change the name "Lucy"] I'll definately take it.

    And.
I can't resist. I like a few of the titles, but I only get two, so I'm just going to have to choose: "Ooh! My Soul."

    Why?

    Why blink, this second's over
    End of days is near
    Don't cry for fallen soldiers
    Freedom has no fear

Why hold the hand of sorrow
    Tears show such disdain
    Thorns will bloom tomorrow
    In floods of salty rain

    Why pray on tainted alters
    Deaf saints hear no screams
    Pious lips will falter
    Taste bitter broken dreams

    Why hope as brilliant daybreaks
    Long night put to sleep
    Lost and lonely heartbreaks
    Eternal shadow's deep

    Dear Marcus
You mean the world to me and more
You're the one my heart adores
I've never felt like this before
    P.S. I love you.

    Dear Marcus
You are always there for me
Even when we fight and disagree
You've made me as happy as can be
    P.S. I love you

    Dear Marcus
You cheer me up when I feel down
And make me smile instead of frown
I'm the luckiest girl in town
    P.S. I love you

    Dear Marcus
To see you again I just can't wait
I know deep down you're my soulmate
It's written in destiny as fate
    P.S. I love you

    Dear Marcus
I'm only this happy because of you
And all of the little things you do
I know this feeling is special and true
    P.S. I love you

Hold me tight Baby and don't you let go now,
We've come too far; I'm not turning my back,
Hold me tight Baby and don't you let go now.

I'll wait forever for your walls of pride to crack -
If that's what it takes to save us; I'll do it for you,
We've come too far; I'm not turning my back.

Take a deep breath; look into my baby blue's,
Know that I'm willing to throw it all away -
If that's what it takes to save us; I'll do it for you.

I know things have changed; you don't know what to say,
    So listen closely to the words that I speak;
Know that I'm willing to throw it all away.

And as you sleep; I'll rest a hand onto your cheek,
You can do as you wish; but please believe in me,
So listen closely to the words that I speak.

My heart is holding onto you; I want you to see,
Hold me tight Baby and don't you let go now,
You can do as you wish; but please believe in me,
Hold me tight Baby and don't you let go now.

The Terzanelle is a poetry type which is a combination of the villanelle and the terza rima forms. It is a 19-line poem consisting of five interlocking triplets/tercets plus a concluding quatrain in which the first and third lines of the first triplet appear as refrains. The middle line of each triplet is repeated, reappearing as the last line of the succeeding triplet with the exception of the center line of the next-to-the-last stanza which appears in the quatrain.

    Ps i love you

You can have my lungs if I can borrow your heart,
But my lines lack the deliverance to break you apart.
And though this road is a short one, the journey will be slow,
Don't tell me those things, because I already know.

Machines bleep to a constant beat,
It's been 26 days since I last used my feet.
And the nurses all look at me in this dubious way,
I'm not listening but I still hear what they say.

You liked me in red, but I was best suited to green,
And this unvarying surveillance is a daily routine.
People watch me, like I'm going to repeat what I did.
Yeah, this patient confidentiality is just taking the piss.

The blood stains and the grass stains,
I knew you preferred the red.
But when I heard what you said,
    I chose jealousy instead.

I mad a last ditch effort,
To try and tell you it's true.
Maybe it is all your fault.

    But p.s I love you.

  • Espoirfailed

Ok this is very different to my normal stuff, but i tried to go outside my comfort zone, not quite sure what i think of it yet lol.
    -----------------------------------------

    i've just seen a face

Well, I hope tomorrow I wake up and it's not only a different day,
I need a new sequence of notes on a different scale,
I called and asked you to join me as I set sail,
But I got carried off on the crest of a wave.

I fell for the way they wanted me to behave.
Each coded base, codes for only one thing.

I need to empty my lungs, yeah, I need to sing.

I'm selfish, paranoid and oh so uncompromising,
    But this is me now,
    That is you now.
Maybe if you had have been there on time...

But you weren't and baby I changed.
We're not going to look back in years to come
and think, gosh that was strange.

I may be a cynic but at least I speak the truth.

    My home is...

A world where "jobs" get you jobs
A world where I get lost in the same place,

I think all hope is gone.

But I looked over the horizon and I just saw a face.

    Can't Buy Me Love

Her mother puts a knowing hand on her back
Wishing there was something she could do
It's obvious her daughter is torn to pieces
Over a boy that will never have a clue

It's hard to convince someone who's in love
That this world is wider than they believe
And when you've been as low as this before
You know it's best to give in to the grief

"Baby, is there anything I can do for you?"
She whispers through the whimpering tears.
She pats her back with a reassuring touch
And runs her fingers through her tangled hair.

"Say something.." she pleads to know it's okay.
"I'd do whatever to make it better again."
Her daughter looks at her with misty eyes and says,
"You can't buy me love, 'cause you can't buy me him."

A part of her mother crumbled down inside
And a familiar burn started up from the ash.
It's funny how first love can hurt a lifetime.
And her own mother remembered one from the past.

So she went to her room and pulled out the yearbook
Turned to a page with the corner pulled down.
There lied the face of love she couldn't buy
And the stains of tears that'd fallen around.

    You Know What to Do
    By: Charisma*

Look in the bedroom where your daughter lays
Then pour out the bottles and throw them away.
Out of sight, out of mind. Join the crowd.
We all give up something that we're not allowed.

Quitting isn't easy but it proves that you're tough.
And saying you'll do it isn't proof enough.
Actions speak loud than words you repeat.
It's by NOT drinking, the problem you'll defeat.

Stop acting like it's way too much to ask.
Nobody told you it'd be an easy task.
But you got yourself in, and you dug this grave,
But you can get out if you stop being it's slave.

There are more reasons to quit, than to stay.
This house provides two that you see everday.
It's time the addiction loses it's grip on you.
No need to put it off. You know what to do.

Lucy in the sky with diamonds

God Lucy, you look so splendid.
But don't you think it's time to climb back down?
We all know how you got there,
But up in the sky you're not doing anyone any good.
No you're not doing anyone any good.

I think you're an idiot now,
But I don't know when I stopped caring about that.
You gave up on being read like a book,
You got your life recorded on audiotape and it's playing in the hall.
    It's not for our benefit.
    It's not for our benefit.

The Beatles played on the radio,
    Oh, and I, I had a spade.
I found your body in the soil,
I found your body in the soil.

Your skull didn't match your thigh,
Lucy, do you want to tell me why?
Every other aspect was not this secret.
How dare they say I put you there?
    I never saw you before.
    This was the first.

But your beauty! How it got to me.
Lucy, you were like a diamond,
And I needed you to prove my theory.
Lucy, you were like a diamond
And you helped me see clearly.

Lucy, Lucy you're not in the sky.

    ---------------------------------------------------

this poem has references to the archeological dig. Somebody found a being that is neither human nor anything else (significant in some way i don't fully understand) it was dark and the stars were like diamonds, on the radio this song was playing. they named the body Lucy, it just inspired me.

    Roll Over Beethoven
    by SecludedSerendipity

He sits in front of the black piano
    And plays a nightly tune.
It could make anyone fall into a loving sleep,
If only it didn't end too soon.

    His fingers, the cause of greatness;
    A masterpiece: a maze of notes;
A sound of tranquility in the air,
In and out of us all, it floats.

The keys are pressed so lightly,
    Yet something magical is produced.
It grips you in, takes full control,
Like in the act of seduce.

    He's just a name, a nobody,
    Yet becoming bigger each day.
    So roll over Beethoven,
A new pianist is coming your way.

    Baby, You're a Rich Man
    by SecludedSerendipity

You shine your designer watch out bright:
An act of pride, yet such an ugly sight
    To all those lower classes passing by;
Your way of life is such a filthy lie.

Your money, it floods you, blinds you, too,
The outlook it created is something untrue.
"Money is all that we need on this earth."
Money is all that you'll ever be worth.

You aren't worth our time, nor our love,
So your stinking money, you know where to shove.
Those pound notes have stopped you being able to see,
A rich man you are, and all you'll ever be.

    A Hard Day's Night
    By: Charisma*

    The clouds are overhead.
    They moved in so fast,
    Along with the heartache
    Too strong now to pass.

    The sun's ripped away,
    So much like my heart.
    The sky's breaking up
    As my world falls apart.

    At first the tears trickled,
    But now brews the storm.
    There's no hope left here
    To keep myself warm.

    I'm soaked to the core.
    I don't feel a thing.
    And though the rain pours
    I can't feel it's sting.

    I'm numb to the world.
    Especially to you.
    I let the sun shine
    When the sky wasn't blue.

    The darkness was there
Though I claimed I saw light.
    Where did that get me?
    Lonely tonight.

    Geniuses never needed guidance,
And while you still have humility left, I'll remind you of that.
But as the apple fell from that tree, Newton knew what he was aiming at.
Your wallet was always a few short
Of the pennies that rounded up to the next pound.
You might not know how to write letters,
But you can manipulate music; you can sure work with sound.

And as I breathe, dear, I'm just breathing you in.
Don't mind me; I won't be here long,
    I'm just window shopping.

Do you know how much I loved that song-
That you sang to me as the stars danced like infants.
You strummed that old guitar, like it had one night left.
We made that one night the best,
    But you probably don't remember.

Finishing off with a slow minor chord,
I whispered in your ear "Roll over Beethoven,
Boy, you're gonna be a star."

    But you probably don't remember,
    Because, now who you are,
    Isn't who you were.

She Came In Through the Bathroom Window
    By: Charisma*

It wasn't fair and they were wrong
To keep her at home that night.
The party was just too much fun.
She had to put up a fight.

But the words she'd planned to say
    Wouldn't do her any good.
Still, she wouldn't follow the rules
    Like she knew she should.

    When her parents fell asleep
She snuck out to have some fun.
She'd be home before they knew it
    Before the day had begun.

The party was the bash of the year
With plenty of drugs and booze.
But the noise attracted the cops
And she knew there'd be no excuse.

So she ran to the house on the hill
Nobody was home so it seemed.
    A place for perfect protection
Is what this young girl had deemed.

The doors to house were all locked
But there was a room with a glow.
So inside she was. She came in
    Through the bathroom window.

Safety at last so it felt.
But the comfort came to close
When the alarms all went off
And there was nowhere to go.

The cops came to the house
And took the young girl to jail.
    An announcing of her mistake
The red and blue sirens did wail.

Breaking an entering, booze, and drugs
One phone call to break the news.
The lesson of the story is.
When you don't listen, you lose.

    A Beginning

    Eyes consumed by soul's decree
    Tender kisses ignite desire
    Fingertips blush in fountain's light
    Lake breeze fanning sunset's fire

    Holding peace in aching arms
    Whispered breaths thy gentle hollow
    Lulled by drum-beat lullaby
    True lover's dreams to follow

    Swells entreat an endless sea
    Bides a heart's true song
    Teardrops spilling sadness waves
    Prayers to Heaven drift along

    If You've Got Trouble

    ~USA Today~
    Bravery swept away
    Schools don't teach
    Corrupted priests
    Corporate greed
    Poor man bleeds
    War for oil
    Blood the spoil
    Young men slain
    Die in vain
    Streets at war

    Long, Long, Long

This weary life in torture keeps
Angst and longing burned so deep
Apart, I ache, as each day dies
So deep in you, your tears I cry

    All my faith bestowed upon
    You, my every waking dawn
Every hope is cast to sea
    Your affections drowning me

Whispered breaths of love do call
    In troubled slumber, darkness falls
So, you ask if I am true?
I would die not having you

    Tempest shaken, love still stands
Waiting just to take your hand
    Heaven hear my plaintive plea
To bring my ain true love to me

    How Do You Do It?
    By: Charisma*

What stone cold heart allows you to sleep?
Does it not prick your conscience at all?
This world is a dump, a useless heap
Guided by greed and ruled by the powerful.

The hungry still starve while money's there.
Wars are raging and taking innocent lives.
The news reports show us indepth despair
And there's no trust between husbands and wives.

Education is pushing the kids to the limit,
While the movies are going down the drain
True peace exists in no single minute.
People give up everything for fortune and fame.

The morals are declining at a rapid pace
While the crime rates go through the roof.
There is trouble, no matter the place
Use statistics and graveyards as proof.

So I have one question left to those here
Who this doesn't seem to phase in the least.
How do you do it? Live without tears?
In a world where insanity reigns free?

    Ooh! My Soul

You've got your intentions in a knot and they're hanging from the rafters,
And your judgment is sitting on the roof; now don't forget to jump.
    Let's hurry with this pity party and by the way you're pretty than that facade;
We've got more patience then a suicidal and we've got more time then God,

Oh, baby, baby, you've hit my soul, with your failed intentions.
We can only hope the next attempt will be so much more successful.
    I'll buy you the rope if you promise to use it all and maybe give us a bit of a review;
We'll got more patience than a suicidal, and more time then God, but we don't want to waste you.

    So plant those feet firmly on the chair, and don't forge to kick it away;
Matter of fact, I'll push it away for you just to insure that it happens nice and easy
And there's no chance of second guessing before you actually fall.
We'll hope you'll make this quick; we'll buy that rope if you promise to use it all.

Now, now, you've got your intentions in a knot and hanging from the rafters,
And your judge is sitting on the roof; now don't forget to jump.
    We'll hurry with your pity party and ask you to jump nice and quick with a nod;
We've got more patience then a suicidal and we've got more time then God.

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds

Your eyes burn with diamonds much like that of dreamers,
And I don't know, but crashing and burning seems to be your new game,
But I'm wondering if you're supplying the fumes.
Hopefully, if you make the right decisions we all won't go up in flames.

    If the buildings burning, I'm pretty sure you could extinguish it with your sarcasm alone;
    But that's not what we're really here for, is it my dear -- we've got more to go;
Reach out, don't be frightened, it's only the truth turning into jet planes to fly from your lies,
We'll work on our duties with a bright burst of flames for show.

Now, baby, baby, you've got your diamonds dulling and your sky turning boring colors,
You can't submit to fight every time; you have to lose some of the time,
    And you may believe I'm speaking rubbish, but there's more truth then lie to my word;
Crashing and burning seems to be your new game and no one's going to save you this time.
