I'm not depressed but I NEED advice....

My friend is always saying he is worthless, and means nothing. Sometimes he says he wants to run away or die. He says he is worth nothing, and has no friends...he thinks he is alone and has no one to talk to. I try to give that to him, but he still goes on and on. What could I say to him to show him that everyone has worth? If you are/were depressed and feel the same has he does what would you want to hear? Do you know of any poems that might make him feel better?

you cant really say much, those type of people, like me, say that for attention. not like a greedy type, they just want to be heard. and you can never say you care for them enough to please them, they need to realize things on their own. just tell him that you understand, but he has some serious self realization to go through.

thanks so much guys. I'm really afraid that he is going to do something bad. I've tried to comfort him and everything...but it doesn't seem to be working.

He might just be doing this for attention, but just in case he's not, don't ignore him or anything. keep a positive attitude and keep telling him good things about his self and never give up.....trust me, I know what it's like to be in his postion, and one of my friends is helping me out of it.
