If you write for longer periods of time do you end up getting better? And how do you get better?

I find i understand poetry a lot more now than when i started, just remember the best poems are ones coming from the heart and not forced ones xxx

As time progresses your poems will become better and better. This site will help a lot with that. Post your poems and people will give you feedback to let you know how you are doing with your work. Also, read some other poetry and novels. Expand yourself beyond what you have experienced.

Thats the best thing you could do. When ever your feeling something just get out your pen and paper and start writing. Just one line can inspire you to do so much more.
    Good luck.

Not only do you get better by having writing experiance; you also become better through reading others' diverse, and powerful poems.

By writing more overtime you do get better and i know everyone can relate to that. also reading other ppl's poems is a great way to learn new vocabulary and new ways to write your poem. so i believe you really do get better over time.

I think I can get better words for my poem if I keep on writing for long period of time. ^^
I can see the difference between my first poem and my last poem. ^^

I got a lot better in writing poetry over time . I read my old poems that I first submit and end up embarrassed at how simplistic I was T_T But currently I have trouble ending my poems -__-

I'm not sure how to answer that. I've been writing for two years and things have been up and down for me, but poetry was always something I could turn to. To me poetry is like a silent friend. So i think that if I keep writing, I will get better. Maybe it will be the same for you. Shanik
