Famous Poets Contest [Round 1 of 2]

Hey everyone,
Ok well ive thought of a new contest I thought would be interesting to judge.
It's based around famous poets. I looked at the favourite professional poets thread and picked out the most popular. If anyone wants to do another poet then leave a reply saying you would like to whichever poet it is and ill look that poet up and most probably ill be fine with you doing this.
Ok well for the first round of this you have to look at a few of whichever poet's works (yes you will have to do a little research) and you have to write a poem, based around their works. So if it's a Shakespeare sonnet, then you have to write a sonnet in his style. You can also use themes that particular poet has used in his/her poem. But you have to tell me which poem of theirs you based your poem around. I hope this makes sense.

Rules;
- Must reserve and complete
- No explicit/erotic poetry
- Must be based around the poet, remember this it's the main part of this contest.
- You will most probably have to do research about this poet as well as their work. As they are famous im sure you'll find some of their poems online.
- Starts today; 29th June.
- This round ends on the 19th July but I may post the poets who are going to continue to the next round after the 21st as I will be in London that weekend.
- Rules for the next round of this contest will be posted when the next round takes place, but it will have to be based around the poet you chose to do.
- If you want to do 2 different poets then you will be allowed. But they have to be two separate poems (one for each poet).
- Tell me which poem/s of the poet you are basing you work around.
- Have fun, enjoy yourself and I hope this challenges you. : )

It Ends Tonight (Sonnet V)

Time sweeps by, as I sing my lonely tune,
under these black stars, in this purple sky,
While I sit looking at this crimson moon,
I just can't help but think and wonder why.

Why do I have to live this lonesome pain?
go through life without her wonderful touch,
feel such sadness I can't even explain,
and these memories I will miss so much.

maybe one day I will learn to depart,
stich my wounds and finally start to heal,
stop writing sonnets to my broken heart,
maybe one day happiness I will feel.

Til then I write poems under the moonlight,
as I sit here hoping it ends tonight.
