So ive always thought that no one older (namely parents and siblings) will listen to me because of my young age. Ive always felt this way and i know im not stupid and im pretty book smart but they make me feel like im so stupid and they wont give me a chance and actually listen. Does anybody else feel that way sometimes?

Now people will always shut you down, so what you need to do is actually tell them "Excuse me, I wasn't finished" "We are in a conversation, so let's act civilized and converse"

If you say that, it'll get their attention, trust me...

Yes, Noir is correct. I, however, only ever use his example when I'm conversing with an intellectual, i.e: a school teacher. It really shuts them up and they happen to see you in a different light. Otherwise, when I'm trying to put my point across a rather foolish and naive medium, I am forced to simply speak right over the opposing party's occasional rants: "just shut up, yeah. you're so stooppid!".

    Yeah - what. ev, lovey.

Noir gave an answer that was very nearly perfect. I've noticed that quite often the people that ignore someone like that are narrow minded, as well as frequently incorrect. Not always the case but it is true enough that I can notice it.

    No, i'm sorry but i don't.

when i was young i set to my mind that i would give this world something it had never seen before. i set myself against all obstacles. climbing mountains, walking long distances, delivering great speeches, basically going out of my way to show how dedicated i am.
i like it when someone tells me i can't do something. half the time i surprise not only them but myself with how much i get done.
