Lines Supplied poetry contest

  • Auspicious76

This is open form and can be in any style you choose... but there's a catch :-)

All poems must contain these lines incorporated in a cohesive manner. You may not change the words around. They have to stay exactly the same. The poem can be about anything as long as all 12 lines are used. Poems should not exceed 30 lines. Only 15 entries so reserve your spot.
    -----------------------EDIT--------------------------

I have noticed that some of the lines are being changed in some way to fit the poems. This is not allowed. The lines must stay EXACTLY as they were given. You may not add s-ed-ing- or any other ending sound to ANY of the lines or words. This is the challenge of the contest. To conform YOUR poem to the lines already supplied in a cohesive manner (a manner that makes sense). Please check as you write your poems to make sure you are using the lines correctly.

Obie kabie kemosobi. And for anyone else wondering... you may use any of the lines more than once as long as it makes sense. Just remember, you cannot have more than 30 lines.

Just for fun, I'm gonna give it whirl....nope... Mine doesn't count and will NOT be in the voting pool... :-) Just wanna see if I can string these ones together.

    Bitter Yesterday's

Yesterday's gone in a cloud of dreams-
Though I know not where it went-
    Leaving bitter sweet memories
    Of hope and laughter spent;
A rhythm of passion and cruel loss
    That slowly bleeds my soul,
And pounds in time with broken heart
    To coldly take their toll-
    While figments of the mind-
Like dead petals on the wind-
Whirl and twirl like smoke and fire
To a song that never ends.
Choked up by these shattered dreams,
I build a heart of stone-
As soft and passionate they rise
To caress me with their woe.

It CAN be done (and in less than 30 lines).... requires a lot of thought ...... but if I can do it, so can you. Come on.... more takers! You know you have it in you...

    "Remembering Yesterday"

I use my rhyme of passion
    to forget our bittersweet goodbyes

Remembering when we felt like petals on the wind
in my foggy cloud of dreams

All my laughter spent on you
    was a laugh well spent

    with my shattered dreams
    and now heart of stone

    I become choked up remember
all the things we use to do

We were like smoke and fire
When you get one you got the other

But your soft and passionate kisses
are just a figment of my mind

    I am extremely down trodden
    because yesterday's gone

    Stephanie Naylor:

Please re-read the description of the contest. You have the idea but you have not used some of the lines the way they are presented. You may not change the words around. They have to stay exactly the same. Don't pull out of the contest though - just go in and edit these lines :-)

figment of my mind-----figments of the mind

    rhyme of passion-------rhythm of passion

  • .K.i.T.t.Y.

I'll reserve, but I don't know if I'll complete it.

No problem Hellon... It is only natural to be suspicious. I assure you though, I AM pretty good at what I do... I did not join out of some misplaced desire to jumble things up. I live to write. I breath poetry, I live poetry, I dream poetry :-D and I love being able to help others challenge themselves to new heights :-)

Soooo.... there are still spots left... come on folks! You know you wanna! It's new... unique.... CHALLENGING! And above all..... FUN :-D

    -----------------------------EDIT-------------------------
    With a heart of stone
    I remember that yesterday's gone
And all I am left with are bitter sweet shattered dreams
Of laughter spent on a cloud of dreams.
    Love and 'Forever' -
    Just figments of the mind.
Who was to think that such a soft and passionate
    Rhythm of passion
Could become like rose petals on the wind
And end all choked up, dead,
    By the smoke and fire
From the flames of Love and Life...

I hope this one is ok, i just wrote it because your contest sounded like a challenge to me, but here it is and thank you for a different contest to challenge me with. aswell just to make it more of a challenge i used them in the exact order you have them in.

    memories of our love

    In a cloud of dreams
    Laughter spent together
    Soft and passionate hugs
Smoke and fire ignited in our hearts
Choked up in all this love
Bitter sweet kisses I thought were fake
Figments of the mind with the memories we shared
Petals on the wind as I walked down the aisle
Rhythm of passion as our hearts beated as one
Now we are apart, I have a heart of stone
Shattered dreams and memories of what we once had
But now today is here and yesterdays gone.

I do not have the happiness, the joy, the love
I only have the memories of my one angel from above
For my angel was taken from me
Now the memories we shared is all I can see

"It's Whatever You Want It To Be"

    Choked up
    On the
    Smoke and fire
    In your lungs
    Loss of breath
    Laughter spent
    Discover
    Vision blurred
    Yesterday's gone

    Heart of stone and
    Path unknown
    Shattered dreams,
    Bittersweet figments of the mind
    Comforting memories
    Soft and passionate
    Intriguing,
    Teasing your senses

    Cloud of dreams
    Now unseen
    Petals on the wind
    Untangible,
    Unreachable,
    Moving to
    Your own
    Rhythm of passion
