I was thinking...?

You know when telling Kevin he should go look in the mirror...Lol Jk..I was thinking about the whole issue of racism and homophobia...?

Which got me thinking about two issues:

When a black man (mostly American and/or British) calls another man of the same colour "My N------"...Is it ok? And if one from another race says it...In the context of the way the black man said "My N-----" is it Ok?

Do you think Homophobia and Islamophobia should be addressed before the issue of racism.

I will tell you why: I am studying in University, in the lecture corridor a white student called a black student "A c--- and N-----"...A day later I heard she was expelled a few days later without question. Now on Febuarary it was LGBT month, and bookmarks were handed out to students to raise awareness. A student was given the bookmark just like everyone else, the student threw the bookmark and called everyone a "fucking disgusting p---"

He was given a three day suspension.

So I would like to hear your opinions on this...?

AHHHH!! i had a long, well thought out response for this, that would have helped stimulate a good discussion but it got erased! I am pissed! this has been happening a lot to me.

just for the record i am far from racist.

quickly put together version: NOT FAIR/JUST. Equality is equality. meaning everyone should live my the same, standards, laws, and guidelines. for one race to be aloud to do something, such as saying N-----, yet the others can't is very wrong and unequal. things like this have been dubbed in my social circle as "reverse racism". if you want equality you get the whole package, you don't get to pick and choose. affirmative action is an example of this "reverse racism". why should i lose my spot in a university or scholarship to someone with lower grades and test scores because they have a different skin color? not much different than what was happening in the 40's-60's but opposite races. It is simply wrong. no one should have special privileges just because they played the minority card (or majority card).

As to the students you mentioned. if i was walking down the hall and called a cracker, would that person be expelled? i highly doubt it. THIS IS NOT EQUALITY! besides what happened to freedom of speech? The quote that describes my opinions best on this is "i may not agree with what you say, but i will defend to the death your right to say it."

Also, there is black history month, and scholarships for minorities. what if there was white history month and/or scholarships for white people? it would be social suicide. actually it would be worse, it would probably follow with a law suit. NOT EQUALITY!

for racism to end the special treatments, privileges and standards for minorities need to be abolished. otherwise there will always be bitterness and hate.

(what i have said does not apply to everyone who is part of a minority. please do not take offense if it does not apply to you because i am not targeting a race, i am targeting society.)

Icarus: Don't you think that this may be payback for all the wrong one race inflicted onto the other. And that to gain true equality one must pay for the sins of their forefathers...?

Noir, the cliche "two wrongs don't make a right" comes to mind.

Besides, the payback idea doesn't fly with me. were horrible things done to these people's ancestors? unfortunately yes. there were terrible mistakes made, and horrible things done. yet why "payback" to people that had nothing to do with that? you can't fix what happened and all you are doing is creating bitterness between the current generations that had nothing to do with the original acts. this bitterness leads to more hate, more racism and more acts of violence. humanity as a whole (myself included) needs to learn to let go. holding a grudge like this only causes more pain and strife. now you may say something about how i'm white and it was my race that committed the crime so i am partially responsible. however, if you keep drawing the white, black lines that way, racism will never disappear. it shouldn't be a them and us thing. it should just be an "us" that includes all races.
