    Sonnet 116
    -- William Shakespeare

    http://www.shakespeare-online.com/sonnets/116.html

"If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved."

    ^^^

Quite a claim, don't you think?

Well, if it is true, then how come people fall out of love? (And yes, this is only when it is TRULY LOVE, but yet they do)

Also, how can people love someone, and then move on and love another?

Those questions arise if what he says is true. But if Arguably the greatest writer ever...never writ?

Going back to the original post and Shakespeare's sonnet.....one of my favorites BTW.......I believe Shakespeare was writing of "True love".....which is another thing entirely from love......many may love, many times over, but few really find true love....in my humble opinion of course. Read the poem.....it describes "true love" beautifully....

    I agree with you Illu....

"To experience true love, you must empty your heart, free yourself from yourself to become the purest dust beneath the feet of your beloved
within this tranquil state some words will seize to exist
    ~I~ ~You~ ~Hate~... unless you are a hypocrite
    then you offer yourself"

.....in losing yourself to another....you actually find yourself.....as in Neruda's poem...."I Do Not Love You"
