What Childish Thing Do You Miss?

  • UnderAge Dying

    I miss swinging all day
    and being able to sleep
    in my dad's oversized t-shirts.
i miss making up songs as i sat
    there and picked strawberries
    out of the strawberry patch

    i miss the innocence
and how much you loved yourself
and how proud you were when you
accomplished something as simple as writing your name.

I miss being able to smile and laugh all day with out a care in the world
I miss helping my grandma in the garden staring at the roses and playing with her dog.

The most childish thing I miss most of all is the air of innocence that seemed to surround you
and times when you were able to reach up and grab your dads finger cause your hand was to small to fit in his.

I miss the fact that you didn't know the word
    hate
and if you did, you thought it would
never ever be used in your vocabulary!

  • UnderAge Dying

    And also,
    swimming! haha.
    how when swimming, you weren't
    insecure in any way!

I miss being able to walk into a room and immeidatly make a friend out of the person sitting next to where there didn't seem to be any line of seperation with cliqes and such.

I also miss being able to sit around all day and play. Just play, not have to even pay attention to society around you, when everything else in the world didn't matter.

and I miss My dad carrying me around the store or house. X3 it was seeing the ground beneath me from his height.

  • Noir

The funny thing is, you can still do all those things, but you'll lost that courage when you lost that "innocence"

  • Blood Angel

    I beg to differ
If my dad tried to pick me up he'd probably break his back
If I went to play with my grandma's dog in her garden I couldn't she's no longer walks the earth, like her dog.
    these are just examples
You see noir there are a few things we can't keep doing as we grow up innocence or not.

  • Noir

Well then that would be on account of age then...I mean you can get another guy carry ya...

The point being that innocence really isn't gone, it is merely submersed within our psyche...

I miss singing with my dad.
Swinging in the park with my friends.
    Playing tag.
    Dancing in the rain.
Being the biggest thing in the world.. Never anything getting me down.

I miss playing on recess in elementary

    i miss having no responsibilities
not worrying about having to pay for things

i miss being daddy's little girl
being able to put all my hairclips in his hair

i miss being able to play barbies with my sisters
and arguing over who gets which barbie

i miss the summer days with no job to go to
and spending all day with my grandparents

I miss having the world at my fingertips. When life was fresh and new. I wish I had realized what a delicate time that was and had been carefuller when I chose my path.

I miss how everyday me and friends would do the same exact things, and never get tired of it, or each other.

I miss when I was a wild child, and didn't care what anybody thought of me.

I miss when blowing bubbles was the biggest thrill out of anything.

I miss the days before drama.
I miss the days when you didn't worry about dating and sex.
    I miss the innocence.

  • Becca

This is true... I miss the innocence and the courage it brought.
I miss the times that I didn't have to worry or stress over anything. I miss playing in the street at night with the neighborhood kids, the boys chasing the girls and vise versa. I miss playing pretend and catching fire flies (there isn't any where I live now) and grasshoppers with my siblings. I miss not having to care... not having to know...

  • Noir

God you people seriously need help...Do you think you're forefathers had the same childhood as you...Nope seeing as they were seen back then as young adults...And if they stole a lollipop or money, they were hung....Seeing as the legal age at that time was 7...

And they had to work for what they got...You should pray to God, and the sad thing is children in Africa and other less developed countries have to work in mines and alligator infested waters just to pay for the family...

Be happy for what you got...And the so called "innocence" that you say is lost...Was always there to begin with...

  • silvershoes

Noir, your post is irrelevant. We're not comparing our childhoods to those of the less fortunate, we are simply stating what we personally miss from growing up. This is a personal opinion thread, not a "who had it harder?" thread.

Do you all realize that together and without meaning to you have written one fantastic and hell of a poem! AWESOME!

I put it all together for you and I hope you do not mind, but I found it moving that I wanted to share it with each of you.

You know how Luna Lovegood hops in harry potter?

I mean, do you know the skip skippy way that children walk with? Like scissors darting above the ground and coming back and skipping again? I miss walking like that. I still remember how much my Dad adored me doing that.

  • Noir

Oh Jane...How I do love your odd sense of timing...

Then again...I don't but hey somebody must love it...

Actually my post reflected on the whole notion of childhood, and how it did not exist in the pre-industrial era, and how it virtually does not exist in most under-developed countries.

So rather than say my post is irrelevant, which when you think about this thread is jam packed full of irrelevant information...Do some background checking before you come to the wrong conclusion.

And again like you said this is a "personal opinion" thread...I gave my personal opinion on what I think of this thread...Quite ironic how you mentioned the word "personal opinion"...Ha!

Noir, I'll let you win this one. Touche! Can I have a hug? Maybe hop on the good foot and do the bad thing?

Hitting on you is so much easier than fighting with you.

  • Noir

    Lol...

    "Let"...what a humourous word...

But don't you have Dhaval flirting with you...I think he'll be jealous if anything where to happen between us...Lol.

  • silvershoes

Dhaval isn't anyone I'm worried about, I think he can take care of himself. I'll flirt with you both, seeing as flirting is as far as our relationships will ever go. Haha, how does that sound? :)

And yes, "let." Ah, you boys are funny.

  • Noir

Lol...I guess but I ain't a person who flirts with just anyone...It takes finesse to win me over...Lol.

And the word "let" will never occur if we were to "fight" honestly...Lol.

    Cos...I would win...Hands down...Lol.

  • silvershoes

Haha, alright, you can stick to Abby then. Or sybelline. I admit they both have more finesse. I'll keep my crush on you to myself ;)

My point above was that you were being too dramatic and trampling our parade. This post should be reflective on our own pasts, not a thread for guilty comparisons. Maybe I'm missing your point, or maybe you're missing mine.

I'll let you win, even if that means letting you think I'm giving up. I just don't care enough.
