How i feel about god

    It wasn't you, you're fine.

I was just frustrated because people are taking shots at every angle to my faith (not religion) and I'm shooting nothing back.

you're right though, it's human nature.

even I sometimes question God's existence, just because there is no substance to grab a hold of, I'm only human, not a robot programed to think a certain way.

"do you see anyone here, anyone at all insulting atheism?
or better yet insulting you for being one?
    no."

Um. What the hell are you talking about? I personally get shit all of the time for being atheist. And people are always shoving their beliefs down my throat. People saying things like 'well one day I hope you find Jesus. He loves you.' Who the hell are they to say that? I might as well say 'well one day I hope you find out your entire life built upon your Christian beliefs is proved to be nothing but a lie.'
And yes, yes God is abusive (if he does indeed exist which I highly doubt). Otherwise their would be no suffering, famine, war, heartbreak, disease, hatred, jealousy, poverty... nothing. But no. The whole effing world is effed the eff up. It's precisely those kind of things that make people doubt their gods (yea, plural, because there is more than one religion).

did you not read any of the other stuff I said?
fist of all I meant just for this site when I said that, and I haven't seen anyone literally insult you for being an atheist so far here, so calm down.

It's not God's fault that there is pain and suffereing, when he created this world it was perfect, it was good. but He gave us free choice and we screwed it up (Adam and Eve.) and sin was introduced into this world which would include pain and suffering. God doesn't do horrible things to people, he doesn't give diseases to people, its just the way we ended up. and all the other pains and sufferings are basically come from our own mistakes
    Pollution
Lack of World-aid (Africa/other places in the third world)
people who CHOOSE to hurt others (murderers, rapists, etc)

you're right, the world's effed up but God's not to blame my friend.

Isn't there a commandmend that states that "There should be no other God but teh God himself"?

isn't that rule benefited to all religions???

If so, then everyone abuses this commandment."

dood, that commandment only goes for the people who follow it. (Christians, Hebrews)

Haha, I really hate people say stuff like "if there is a God than he shall smite me right now... well... Im waiting"
it says in the Bible that you "shall not test the Lord you God." and it was in the old testiment when God was smiteful.
trying to say that to prove him wrong does absolutely nothing.

    Ha I guess so.
    thank you.

    ok about that quote,

God protects us from plenty of evil you just can't see it.

I'm gonna whip out a Bible verse for this.

Ephesians 6:12 (ESV) : "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places".

...I believe and other Christians believe:

that there is a spiritual realm, where God rules as well, what happens is in this place there are angels and demons and Lucifer's there, God's there (and Ghosts but thats what I believe.) and those forces of good (God and his angelic army, and the forces of Evil (Lucifer and his demonic army) fight for humans (every time you sin, demon victory, every time you resist temptation, angel victory.)

see the thing is, humans can't see this world.

so thats how God defends his people.

I believe in God, i believe that he sent his one and only son to this world so we would be forgiven of our sins, i believe he came to give us eternal life, i believe that God created the birds that sing, the waters for us to swim in, i believe he created to flowers, i believe i am part of his plan. I believe that he has a purpose for us all

Wicca is a religion, but don't ever get it confused with pagan. Wicca is the worship of nature and nature's gods, and it is a pretty calm religion that practices herbal healing. Not witchcraft. And it shares deities with all kinds of other religions. Just clarifying because I don't like it when people pretend to know what wicca is about. And I don't like people associating it with satanism. People need to learn what a religion is about before they start hating on it.

Hey, well since god's almost the ONLY one who can get me out of my depression . . . well, that pretty much explains itself, God is who I turn to, instead of keeping everything inside of me, I give it all to him. . . I love God

  • the song writer

See, this is why I love God so much...he has the will, the ability and the love to help you out, even when he doesn't have to, he wants to.

He did that for me too, Bloomed Roses.

I like the idea of God - i think its a positive concept, and there is alot of benefit in scripture, when its applied by people who have an ounce of wisdom. I like the idea that we have souls etc, and the after life, and transcendent love and mercy etc

but most of all... I like the idea that the greatest gift God gave people, was free choice.. and thus the free choice to believe in him or not.

It subsequently baffles me, when people who DO believe in God, try to take away the right of those who DON'T believe in God... by saying they have to believe.

    Thus negating free choice...

    Ce la Vie.

Everyone does what works for them, and so be it.

Why do so many people associate God more with being a male than female? Hasn't anyone ever heard the quote "God is coming and she is pissed"? Well I like it. Or is that blasphemous?

No joke, the bible totaly describes god as being a he, also, it puts men at the head of the household, no joke, "and I shall put enimity beween the man and his wife, and he will rule over her" or something like that, the idea is that yeah, sos, but men are supposed to "rule" women, that might explain why o bamma is going to beat hillary for the presidency if democrats win....

Rejoice you must, in the mercy and blessing and generosity of Allah. Seek you must, for the treasures that await your search herein. But the Qur'an opens its doors only to those who knock with a sense of yearning, a sincerity of purpose and an exclusive attention that befit its importance and majesty. And only those are allowed to gather its treasures, while they walk through it, who are prepared to abandon themselves completely to its guidance and do their utmost to absorb it.

It may quite possibly happen therefore that you may read the Qur'an endlessly, turn its pages laboriously, recite its words beautifully, study it most scholarly, and still fail to make an encounter with it that enriches and transforms your whole person. For, all those who read the Qur'an do not profit from it as they should. Some remain unblessed; some are even cursed.

The journey has its own hazards, as it must, just as it has its own precious and limitless rewards. Many never turn to it, though the Book always lies near at hand, and many are turned away from its gates. Many read it often, but come back empty-handed; while many others who read it never really enter its world. Some do not find, but are lost. They fail to hear God even among His own words; instead, they hear their own voices or those other than God's. Still others, though they hear God, fail to find inside themselves the will, the resolve and the courage to respond and live by His call. Some lose even what they had and, instead of collecting priceless gems, they return with back-breaking loads of stones which will hurt them for ever and ever.

What a tragic misfortune it would be if you came to the Qur'an and went away empty-handed - soul untouched, heart unmoved, life unchanged; 'they went out as they came in'.

The Qur'an's blessings are limitless, but the measure of your taking from it depends entirely upon the capacity and the suitability of the receptacle you bring to it. So, at the very outset, make yourself more deeply aware of what the Qur'an means to you and what it demands of you; and make a solemn determination to recite the Qur'an in an appropriate manner.

See, the Bible was written in a time before women had equal rights, which is something we're all not used to. so every author of the Bible was a dood. And in the eyes of a guys, God's a dood.

I personally don't care what "He" is, "He" forgives my sins and doesn't care what I do, "He" still loves me anyway.

    and

I don't like it when people try saying the the Bible is sexist.
    its not.
there's plenty of accounts where women overcame in the Bible.
the women of God, in the Bible:
    Sara
    Ruth
    Esther
    Mary (mother)
    the other Mary (ex-prostitute)
    ...just to name a few

sooo, its not that the Bible is sexist, just the guys in it.

    but just remember; different times.

"Why do so many people associate God more with being a male than female?"

Good point, in my earlier post i should have mentioned alot of theologies consider God genderless... I.e. niether man nor woman - in fact... like nothing that exists or that we could imagine. Somethign truly unique

I only use 'He' in a general sense, which in English turns out to be pro masculine... like 'mankind'... but on the other hand.. women have mother nature... and she has a far better rep God most the time....

I always said when i was little, God is both, male and female, like on the one side he/she's got long hair and the other side short guy kinda hair.. And his right hand is soft and womenly and the left hand is guy-ish and the one leg is shaved and the other one isnt and all that kinda stuff hehe.. You understand what im saying right?
