Better that we break the chains
that keep us hanging on
That hold us in a prison
where the hope of love is gone
A night so lonely comes upon
the heart that cries inside
Tender tears that douse the flames
of a soul that slowly died

A hunger left upon the soul
has found no refuge there
Inside the heart a single teardrop
rips the yearning bare
Among the shattered pieces
of a love that lost its glow
Has tipped the mind severely
with the lancing of each blow.

Now tattered bruised and vacant
on the heart there's no relief
As distant dreams are scattered
in the mounds of the debris.
Inside the wreckage of the soul
a truth is there to see
Consumed by all the madness
in the flight of fantasy.

She walks the streets at night, nowhere to go,
Man to man she wonders, full of deceitful cries,
Sorrow in her heart, on her face it does not show.

This pain that she feels. only she will know,
Cold is her heart, bleeding from these lies,

Lost in this world, on her her knees she bends low,
Praying to god for forgiveness, take away her disguise,
Sorrow in her heart, on her face it does not show.

Sleeping near a dumpster to get out of the snow,
She will be loved, even if its only in god's eyes,
She walks the streets at night, nowhere to go.

Wishing she could just send this pain below,
Memories still linger, reminding her of goodbyes,
Sorrow in her heart, on her face it does not show.

The pain that she felt, only she will know,
Man to man she wonders, full of deceitful cries,

A Villanelle is a nineteen-line poem consisting of a very specific rhyming scheme: aba aba aba aba aba abaa. The first and the third lines in the first stanza are repeated in alternating order throughout the poem, and appear together in the last couplet (last two lines).

I'm not really sure if I'll be able to do this title justice, but I'll try my best with it and see what I come up with. I might have to unreserve, though. =/

Not Falling Apart

Just a little broken,
A crack found in the glass,
The winds of time shall heal it,

She Will Be Loved

No more will I deal with this heart ache -
It's time for one of us to have a heart break.
I'm so done with being just second best to you;
That's it, it's over; we are through.

No more countless hours laying awake on my bed.
I can't do this anymore, it's not worth my time;
I want someone better for me to call mine.

Lies are usless for I have heard them all -
You've hit rock bottom, where else is there to fall?
You can pick up the pieces with someone new;
Someone who may just be better for you.

It took me too long, but now I finally see:

I know how it feels to want someone around.
But I will not settle for less anymore -

Crying in the summer rain
She knew she'd never be the same
In life there is no greater pain
The loss of love, a sense of shame

When love gave her what she seeks
Now her search can never cease
Though she lost it, it still speaks

Love pulls her out into the night
Rekindling her lust for life
She will be loved, she'll be alright
Though love did scar her like a knife

Harder To Breathe [Triquatrain]

I'm so afraid to cry and please don't ask me why,
I'm just not ready to leave -
I'm attacted to you and I don't know what to do,
It's just too hard to believe.

I'll be leaving to soon and I might miss Graduation in June,
But please know I'll try my best.
I'll try to be there for you; it's the best I can do -
But first, let me get this off my chest:

When I'm scared at night and nothing seems right,
It's the thought of you that comes to mind;
Then the monsters go away and I can fight for the day -
But I know I'm just buying some time.

We're living on borrowed time and perfect rhymes,
That just don't seem to make much sense.
We were running the track without looking back -
And now we're just jumping the fence.

But the tears will soon come and then I'll come undone -
Yet, even then, the pain won't be relieved.
I'm done with the hurt; I just want this to work -
It's just getting Harder To Breathe.

Wobbling on unsteady legs, she
Wordlessly fell onto the ground
With a sniff, her tears began to fall
Wallowing in grief, a haunting sound

Wishing the angels could have spared him
Wiping her tears with soft green moss

She Will Be Loved

She's sitting in a bar, it's 5 minutes past 2,
"Lady, you gotta get out, we're shut."
She looks up at his blurred vision,
Stumbles off the seat, and falls
With a bang.

It's somewhat a replica of before
"Love no longer exists in [our] world."
She looked up at him with watered eyes,
Walked away, never looked back, but fell
With a bang.

She remembers that new ray of sunshine
That never arrived, "I'm sorry, he's not breathing."
She turned her back on the nurse, refusing to look.
Shut her eyes tightly, tried not to fall - but did,
With a bang.

Each ounce of love has been swept away
From under her feet, "You'll never be loved."
Her parents' words have scarred her, for life
But she's never gave up, fights back each time,
With a bang.

So she has her own mission set out for her:
"Find love and I'll be all right."
She paints a smile on her face, covers the pain,
Keeping her strong bones, despite all the rain;
She vows one day she'll be loved again.

In the darkened room she clutches her bear
The one that he gave her from the summer fair
She cried into the fur that was already wet
The only light from her muted TV set

With a sob, she reached for the ice cream tub
Knowing full well he would be at the pub
Drowning his sorrows? Too good to be true
He's probably hitting on somebody new

She closed her eyes and pictured his face
His stupid smug grin always glued in place
The way he always thought that he was God's gift
That's what it was that made her quickly shift

Two hours later she stood at the bar
Dolled up to the nines, looking like a star
Figure hugging dress clinging to every curve
Time for him to get just what he deserves

She soon spotted him, not a moment to soon
Surrounded by girls at the edge of the room
With a smouldering smile and a promise unsaid
She watched as his eyes nearly popped from his head

He sauntered on over, adjusting his tie
While she stifled a yawn and tried not to sigh
"Hey pretty baby," he said. "Looking good.
Do you think that for old times sake we could...?"

That was her cue to let out a laugh
"It was you who dumped me so don't be so daft!
You're just surprised I'm not falling apart
The truth is you were bad in bed from the start!"

Not coming home

A little girl, the age of three
Sits on her lonely bed
Her parents left her here
"We will be back" they said

They have been gone
For about an hour or so
She starts to cry now
Do you think her parents know?

She cuddles her teddy tight
He is the only one that cares
He will comfort her tonight
Through the window she stares

Hoping that she will see her parents
Walking to the front door
But they are at a pub
Laying dead on the floor

They are not coming home
But this she does not know
She will wait in her room
Until the police show

Gone are the days where I felt loved,
Where I looked for solace in your arms;
Where dreams replaced the nightmares,
And your words kept me out of harm.

I'm not holding onto something,
Because you have to have to hold.
Nothing replaces the empty somethings,
As the thoughts of you get old.

I'm tired of holding out hope,
It's just not worth my time.
I'm wondering what would be better -
Maybe without you, I'd be fine.

My tears are still cliched,
Yet black lines still trail down my face.
I need to get away from here,
I need to get out of this place.

Alright, time for a deadline. I know that Ciao is on a leave of absence for some personal issues, but she`s got some other poems in so it should be fine. I think I`m going to set the deadline for this Saturday, October 12.
