What are your views on smokers..?

Smoking and drinking are no more, and no better, than drugs! They're just a type of drug that people believe are "acceptable". Personally, I don't believe they're acceptable. I hate drugs & feel a similar emotion close to that when I think of people who do them, but I don't judge them. It's their life; they can live it the way they choose, I can't force them to change; that's their responsibility. That doesn't mean I have to like it, nor do I have to put up with it!

Smokers are just like fat people they make you walk on the road instead of the sidewalk, if you ban smoking, ban fat people :)

OH YEAH WOO HOO! KILL YOUR LIVERS AND FEED FATTY CELLULITE TO YOUR INSIDES THROUGH A PIECE OF PAPER WITH FIRE INSIDE! OH GOD YEAHHHH! FUN FUN FUN 4 LYKE EVAHHHH!!!!!!! <3<3<3

nobody cares if you start up smoking again. in fact, all it means is that when you quitted, you were weak enough, like the neverending cycle of even getting attached to the patches, like my uncle was, that you had to start up again. so don't feel proud, really.

All I can say is this ,my husband and I both smoked when we got married,I quit years ago and he didn`t, now he sits at the table every morning and coughs his head off and refuses to go to the doctor because he knows what he will say.I`m no ones judge but I would say to the young ones if you don`t smoke don`t start.Maybe not to everyone, but to me life is still precious and should be protected as much as we can. Its expensive, and has nothing positive about it,that I can think of.

Oh bangbang, it is so easy to get a rise out of you.
i didn't know you cared so much about my health!!!
and yes, if i'm going to post that i started again, it's going to OBVIOUSLY be in a smoking topic. duuuuuuuuuuuuuuh. and i didn't need to start back up, actually. i chose to. it's a great stress reliever.
now, as i may have said before[ i dont know,], i am all for people who dont smoke. horrah for you, your lungs are healthy. mine? doubtful, because even when i'm not smoking a cigarette i'm smoking something else. that's my choice.... we do have free will, yes?

  • limp

That's your perfect example immature shot at me. 'care so much about your health', i quite clearly said, if you're blind or something i don't know??? that i couldn't give less of a crap about your health. in fact, i pretty much said for all of us, that we don't need to know when you go on and off of the ciggy. okay? so that rids out anything you said at the beginning. I also said i'm past free will. USA and UK are far beyond being intelligent or responsible enough to make decisions for themselves. plus the fact that you are underage for smoking just helps the case, really, doesn't it? at least wait till you're 18 to go notching up with the arrogance on free will. you can't rant about something you don't have for smoking yet. and it may be a stress reliever, dear, but a lot of other things are as well, so, do you need to point it out? do you really need to state the obvious fact of why 99% of all business men smoke?

  • Phantasmagoria

    BANGBANG:

Hey, don't go off saying that people are stupid or don't know how to make decisions just because they're from a certain place. That only proves its the only tactic you have to hold up an arguement, and makes you seem ignorant, and no one wants to believe an obviously ignorant person. Especially since IQs in those areas are occasionally off the charts. Sure, the USA is being run by a idiot, but that doesn't mean the country is full of idiots. I'm actually really against what the USA is doing in the war, and I hate the government. I didn't choose to be born here and even if I did that's no reason to judge me. Maybe you should think about what you're saying or at least start looking into some facts before you make hasty decisions on the people who live there.

  • limp

Okay, don't get your knickers in a twist. i'm sure you get what i mean when you look at 90% of all smokers who want to stop and can't. they took that first puff, even though everyone advises you not to, and walla! banning smoking would have prevented so many deaths. they had the decision to not take the first cigarette into their hands, proving they were too irresponsible and silly- and either potentially killed themselves or ruined their lungs. this is about those who have lung cancer or died from it. i'm not offending an entire nation, let's just pinpoint it down to the people who smoke and regret it.

Wow...such anger over smoking. if you don't like it, don't smoke. simple as that. if you don't like being around it when you walk by someone, don't breathe. geez things aren't so hard and no nobody has to be a douche about it.

I don't like jerks so I don't look or talk to them. If they breathe in my breathing area, I walk away and hold my nose. Problem solved.

If you don't like being around it when you walk by someone, don't breathe.

Yeah and that means they get the better of you, they basically own the place then. so i should have to walk and not breathe just so they can smoke all up on the pavements in my face? it stinks. everyday i walk up to town with my mum and when you get there there's instantly an air change. it pollutes my nostrils like god knows what. so if you don't like the discussion, don't discuss it, but you're all putting down people against smoking with no real side to it. 'oh don't like smoking don't do it simple' yeah right it's that simple. and i couldn't careless if your nanny smoked for 50 years and didn't die, because think of all the people that HAVE.

So that person should be sorry for presenting you with a different view? I am a smoker and I know it's gross and its bad for your health but non-smokers are some of the most judgmental people on this earth when it comes to smokers. It's a personal choice, so if you really have that much of a problem with it, why don't you get off your butt and stop whining about it, go to Congress and rally for an amendement to get rid of cigarettes and smoking in public areas? And please don't tell me I don't get a say in this discussion because I am entitled to my opinion and my voice and I am just as intelligent as you are thank you very much.

"The more you preach to them, the more they will do it"

Hmm. Not necessarily, but I do understand where you're coming from. My father was like that almost 8-9 months ago when he stopped for good. He was smoking 40 a day and I even caught a chest infection because of it at one point. It's a disgusting habit, I agree, and it took years for my dad to understand how dangerous it was. He smoked since he was 20, and now at 51, he regrets not giving it up earlier.

Bob, no. you keep saying OTHER things to try and avoid the real subject. we aren't talking about gun shots, or microwaves, or whatever you have left to complain about. this discussion is about SMOKING. so really, bringing that up is irrelevant, and doesn't help your argument at all. you could be talking about christians and i could just come along and say how many people die from coconuts falling on their heads as if it was a justified statement. well it wouldn't be.

    and uh

"So that person should be sorry for presenting you with a different view? it's not a different view at all, it's doing something to you, not saying their opinion. if i inhale one bit of the smoke that leaves their cigarettes, i'll hold them responsible for making me cough, having to not breathe whilst i walk by, et cetera et cetera et cetera. and honey, you may be entitled to your voice just as much, but don't go presuming you're as intelligent as me - because it may be the case, or it may NOT be, and i may be far smarter than you. so, keep the judgment to yourself, and keep telling yourself that you're entitled to go against my opinion, which is basically that i don't like these uptight business women in suits too small for them walking along in their pewny high heels on the phone breathing smoke down my face. but yeah, it's all good, huh? smoking is a personal choice.

I am sitting here as I type with a cigarette in my mouth. I agree that smoking is a nasty habit, that it stinks, is bad for your health and all the other happy horse crap. On the other had I don't think that all smokers are idiots and should all be grouped together it's kind of like saying Anyone who has eaten squid is a moron just because you don't like it.

There are a lot of things out there that take away life or the quality of life, things that hurt our health.but I think thats like the old saying that "two wrongs don`t make a right" smoking is one thing on a list of unhealthy habits people have. Its no worse or no better than the others but Its still a killer(right Bob?)

Banning cigarettes wouldnt have prevented ANY deaths.

    you cant prevent death.

i think we've been over this many times in this topic.

  • limp

I was away, so i think i should put my last shot into this. rid the whole 'statistics' thing, smoking kills. banning smoking would prevent you dying EARLIER then, eh? are you looking for precise well thought out factual sentences? and to whomever copied and pasted what i said, it's just as bad to go around being oblivious to the smoke you're basically breathing down someone's throat if you do it in a public place, and personal shots aren't clever. i could quite easily say it'd be hilarious if somebody puked all over you and then stabbed you in the stomach, but i don't, i keep it to myself, because i'm good like that.

that's my last say on it. this whole discussion is pathetic. you'd think surely people could see things from my side but no, we excuse the fact that cigarettes are a killer because it's fun to argue.

How do underage kids get ahold of cigarettes anyway?

  • The Queen of Spades

^^^To answer the person above, their of age friends buy packs for them. Or they bum them. When I was in San Francisco for school I was 17 for a couple months and most of my friends were 18, it was remarkably easy to bum them and I had friends buy them. Not very ethical, but its the truth.
