^ If you're not learning, that's your problem, probably not the school's problem. What are your dreams? How would school hold you back from them? |

I'll be class of '09. Then off to college and boot camp. Not to excited about graduation. It's nothing that important really. And there is always one thing I will miss: the chance to hang out with my friends and do uproarously stupid things to pass the time. |

I'm just starting my junior year. It's cool so far. High school is really simple. Or at least it is for me. I always heard how hard it was going to be and all of that stuff but no it's not hard at all. High school years have been the easiest educational years of my life so far. I'm very happy that my parents got help for my ADHD and dyslexia when I was young. Otherwise I might still been struggling in school. I was pretty bad when I was younger. Now I'm fine. I do much better than many of the 'normal' students with no learning disabilities. I'm very proud of myself. |

^ Not necessarily true, there are plenty of jobs that don't require a school education. Maybe she wants to be in the circus, train dogs, be a writer, a painter, a photographer, a farrier, open her own antique store or restaurant, design clothing, be a librarian, a waitress, a stuntwoman, a professional race car driver, an inventor, a musician, as assistant to a professional (vet. for instance), etc. |

Lizzy, I believe you may be talking about education, not just the school system. If I never went to school, I would probably still learn to read and write...I would pick the skills up from watching my friends and family. But, my point with the list I made is that...past grammar school, school isn't really necessary for plenty of decent jobs. The thread poster knows how to read and write...there is some solid evidence in the creation of this thread. Haha, so let's see if she will EVER tell us what her dream job is (she keeps avoiding the topic), and then we can judge if she should go back to school or not. |

Best of luck to ya. You may be young to make this huge decision, but it is your huge decision to make...and I think even without the diploma, you have a shot at being successful. I know quite a few people who are highschool dropouts and doing just fine, then again, it's all about your character. Are you determined? Do you present yourself well? |

I agree with Jagulera (is that how you spell it??)...school does not guarantee succeeding in your dream career...there are plenty of jobs that don't need required class education...i think this girl wouldn't mind going to school to learn about child care, i think that's her point...she may rather be trained for her dream specifically, and start sooner than later... |

Well to check into hotel's, motels etc you usually have to be 18 and if your under 16 you need supervision on planes. and you wont be able to go to bars, clubs so many places because you wont be legal. plus in a country where you are extremly unfamilar with the suroundings and are only 14 years of age then you are just open to vulnerabilty |

To be honest, I have some college credits and I've noticed Meijers, Walgreens won't even hire me for a cashier job .. their excuse was "no job experience." Since I was worried about my education more, they considered it a waste of their time to hire me, which I think is nonsense. I can't even get a basic job without a manager judging too quickly. So, keep in mind, education sometimes doesn't matter to some managers--they're quicker to hire ones without an education than one without out an education.. Fact: They have to pay people more that have an education...so, good luck even though I highly believe in an education.. its more important than any deadbeat job experience that managers want you to have, just to work for them. ::Sighs:: |
