Sadest

You devote your time and energy into recreating yourself. Year after year, another transformation, a newer, better model. You constantly discard little bits of yourself and add other things in their place.

Eventually, you've reached your ideal self. You're not that akward girl anymore, but beautiful, the type of beautiful that people notice. You're savvy, and sophisticated, and well rounded. And you're charming.. a real smooth talker, knowing just what to say and how to say it.

But what happens when the people you changed yourself for don't need you anymore? They don't even bother to pretend that they care?

You end up beautiful, and completely alone, with not even yourself to keep you company

    True dat.

People are only accepted once they have accepted themselves. I know it's so cliche, but how can anyone care about you when you don't care about yourself. That doesn't mean you have to think perfectly of yourself, but be content, know your flaws and embrace them. Be okay with you are. We all have our bad days, but when you learn to have a good day is when people will want to share that with you.

Here is a poem that I like. Sort of goes with the topic:

    The Man In The Glass

When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day
Just go to a mirror and look at yourself
And see what that man has to say

For it isn't your father or mother or wife
Whose judgement upon you must pass
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass

Some people might think you're a straight-shooting chum
And call you a wonderful guy
But the man in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look him straight in the eye

He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest
For he's with you clear to the end
And you've passed your most dangerous test
If the guy in the glass is your friend

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you've cheated the man in the glass

(obviously this goes for both genders)

    .....................................................................
"But what happens when the people you changed yourself for don't need you anymore? They don't even bother to pretend that they care?"

^This is why you DON'T change for people. I've done it once when I was younger, and well more stupid..lost myself when he ended up being gone. Never again. Be yourself!
