"Species" contest (till the 25th of September)

Hello everybody ^^.
I have decided to make a poem contest that will have as subject different "species" or interesting communities. So, here are my ideas:

I wrote the first things that came into my mind, hope this sounds interesting.

RULES:

This must be a NEW poem ><.
Two persons can reserve for the same "species", and the writers can give any title to the poem, as long as the poem is about/with that species. It could either be a story, or a description.
Any length,any style as long as it rhymes, coz rhyming poems are my favourite ^^. Fixed forms are permitted too :D.

Prizes:
~1st Place - Add To Favourites and 20 comments (if u have that many poems, if not, i shall comment all the poems you have)~
~2nd Place - 15 comments (eventually, i shall add you to faves, if i like the poems you write)~
~3rd Place - 10 comments~
~1 Extra Prize for the most original poem - 7 comments.~

Sorry, I haven't seen that it should rhyme... I won't enter, I don't write rhyming poetry :(

I'll take that "elves" topic. I like this contest a lot, very unique.

Vampires, please.

Darkness Is Coming

Tall, brown haired, browned eyed, he's handsome.
Every graceful step he takes is breath-taking.
You would think he was a god in human form.
There is only one thing that gives him away.

When he talks, with his seductive voice...
His perfect sharp white teeth are shown...
Dark shadows lay beneath his eyes...
Those eyes are portals into a world unknown.

You'd think that a god-like man such as this,
Would have some love upon his strong arm?
He's always walking never resting, what's wrong?
His eyes, always searching, he's always alone.

He stalks the night, searching, for hours.
What is he up to this cold, dark, night?
Up to her house he gracefully moves.
Not a single soul up and around in sight.

He enters her room mist comes from her breath.
Standing over, so very thirsty, his body is yearning.
Feeling his presence, so cold, she starts to wake.
His hands twitch and they grab her by the neck.

Her scream is muffled behind his hand.
He pulls her up against his hard chest...
No heartbeat inside his cold bosom.
Her heart beats frantically behind her breast.

His face is buried against her neck.
He can smell her sweet blood pulsing.
Opening his mouth and biting down,
His desire is now satisfied with her blood.

Gasping for air her vision darkening.
She grabs his hands pulling on his arms.
Licking her wounds, they instantly close.
"Sorry darling, I have meant no harm."

He lets her go and watches her body spasm.
She's about to become perfect in his eyes.
Back arched, her form is changing...
Her skin goes white, hear heart stops beating.

She lays still upon the cold floor.
He stands over her, patiently waiting.
"Come my dear it's time to go."
Eyes open, she arises as if just resting.

They leave the house and enter a new life.
Him and Her god-like beauty, for eternity.
Onward they will descend upon this Earth.
I tell you, a new race is coming quickly.

And There's No Where For You To Run.

Sure u can ^^

Lupine Moon

Crunch of snow beneath your paws,
Crunch of bone between your jaws
You march on, throughout the night
Bathed in full moon's silver light

Ivory fangs flash bright and true
Shaggy coat shines steely blue
Frosty breath, soft plumes of mist
A demon army to enlist

Heart-stopping howl splits the air
Senses heightened, steady stare
Glowing eyes transfix your prey
Stunning beast, so fierce and fey

Knife-blade claws, long and thin
Animal instinct strong within
Cover distance in one bound
Scarlet, stains this mighty hound

Night wares on and terror reigns
Bloodlust coursing through your veins
Too soon for you, the dawn draws neigh
A touch of pink graces the sky

Savage hunt concludes at last
With morning sun, full moon has passed
Curled upon the bloodstained snow
True form revealed, for all to know

Golden curls frame an angel's face
Shapely hips and slender waist
Rosy cheeks and softest skin
Clear blue eyes, would never sin

Dreams of horror haunt her sleep
Dreams of carnage make her weep
These images she can't explain
A werewolf's curse brings only pain.

great idea for a contest by the way. it was fun to write about! i've tried to use rhymes at the end of the lines, as well as within the stanza's, i have also used alliteration.

Umm.... can i edit the second last stanza... first line. from 'golden' to 'gold'
sorry. i should have checked before i submitted it.

"The world down here is huge, far and wide;
But I bet up there, there`s more than one side" ;
She sighs to herself as she paces to and fro,
Looking to the depths beneath her, just below.

She stared atop, amazed with the bright blue sky;
As a tiny tear drop shattered down from her eye,
"If only I could grow legs, walk upon the land up there;
Feel the sand between my toes, the wind in my hair -- "

She looks to her sisters, swimming away in glee;
But with them is the last place she wants to be,
"This place I belong, is filled with pain and broken dreams;
But up there, above my world, it`s better than it seems."

She let her voice run wild, as she sang from her heart;
Holding herself together, trying not to break apart;
The boy she seen every night when she closed her eyes,
Was above the water, living a life of pathetic lies.

"The place I belong, it isn`t the same without him here,
He has legs and feet, he sees the world so clear;
But he`ll never fall for a girl like me, one with a fin;
I`m stuck down here on my own, just wonderin' --

What is life like without the water encasing your body?
To see the tranquilities of mother nature, walk free?"
With one last glance to the sky above the ocean blue,
She swims in angst, with spiteful words so few.

Oh, what pitiful creatures,
Dead skin cells on their heads...
Sickening little gazes,
That always stare when dead!

Their grimy, thickened hands,
Bacteria-infected...
Thousands, millions, billions,
They should all be dissected!

Oh, what gruesome animals...
How they whine with no remorse!
They think that they're so special;
Special as the main course.

Wherever they walk,
Their footsteps chug and tumble.
Caking, wearing floors,
How they all bustle and bumble!

They frighten me so much,
With their oblique imperfections!
Going to and fro,
Without having intentions.

How I wish they'd leave me be!
How I yearn to have them go.
If only they would listen,
If only they could know!

Those dastardly barbarians,
How they make me glower...
Taking too much vegetation,
To make their hunger lower!

Oh, their sweating skin,
In this brazen, burning heat...
Who's that in mirror?
Are you making fun of me?!

Sortilege Progenies

Silhouette of broken fragility,
hides in the silent whisper of the night.
She practies her ancestor's sorcery,
in a celestial absence of the plight.

Living in a sadistic denial,
she can't escape her cursed prophecy.
Absorbing all the twisted shards of fear,
that mask ethreal eyes of sympathy.

Vulnerable in the eyes of mortals,
they discovered her tainted secrecy.
She had nowhere to run, sentenced to death,
accused of worshipping the devilry.

Accepting the punishment bestowed,
with courage shown through her mystical grace.
Quietly embraced by the vestal flame,
slowly devouring her distant face.

An advent of the empyreal dawn,
illuminate the cremated debris.
The beautiful stranger was ever gone,
a warning for sortilege progenies.

Urm.. i know this is leaving me a tight target but can i try mermaids. I can only try to have it done by tommorow ok?

Wolf's Tale

See the light of the moon.
Feel the pop in your bones.
Reach into the night,
Hear your howling moans.

Search for the forest.
When you find it, run.
Fear comes from nothing,
Except threat of the sun.

The ictching of sinews,
Feel fur on your skin.
Let the moon warm you,
Here, let her in.

The smell of blood,
On your latest hunt.
After tonight,
You'll wait but a month,

For the echoes of silence
To no longer fill your ears.
Embrace the pretty moonlight,
You're a wolf now, dear.

Moonbeam's hunter

Silent hunter in the moonlight
blackened eyes calmly glisten,
no one's in the sight
so he bows his head and listen...

Shadowed valleys are his home,
mantled tightly in silky moonbeams
starry endless skies- his dome;
paths representing pacing streams...

Along with leaf's whispers he sings
enchantingly alluring elvish tunes
in the forests of the eternal spring,
colored in peaceful green and maroon.

Elegantly gazing upon crystal reflection
on owls eyes, somewhere in the distance
he embrace nature's perfection
and for it's rules binds his existence.

Mermaid (acrostic)

Many do wonder, question believe?

Evolving beauties remain in the seas.

Releasing love, beauty, desires to life,

Mermaids are they keeping oceans alive?

A case of believing, in natural beauties,

In evolving blue seas.

Deep within the ocean......

Mermaids

Masterminds of anguish,
Beauties of the sea.
Using this as a weapon,
Their delight as a shield.

Beneath the smiles
and dolphin like voices,
They leave others with little
if at all any choices,

Of whether they want
to be extinct,
Or stay in the command
of these things.

Tails wave through the ocean,
bringing fear,
For the the rest of them know,
They are near.

To steal their lives,
play with their souls
These are the beauties,
With secrets untold.

Is the contest over yet?

The contest is over now, I just waited for all of the ones that reserved to post their poems. I'm really sorry they didn't, I was curious to see their creations. Well,it was a hard decision to make, but my boyfriend helped me and we got to a conclusion:

*Your poem was extraordinary,and the flow was amazing. I liked the adjectives you used to create the atmosphere. A delicate and strong poem with great skills envolved*

*The poem you made really made me feel all the emotions you wanted to express, and your vocabulary is stunning.*

*Very nice! Ur pesimistic view was greatly transposed in ur poems.I truly agree with your poem, but its too bad that is true. Great idea,great concept.*
