    Scars Are There To Remind Us

    Sometimes people cut themselves
    And I'm really not sure why,
    They say they want to hurt,
    So they can forget about what happened.

    But how can they forget about it
    When the scars never go away.
    Upon the persons wrists,
    Is where the scars will stay.

    Scars are there to remind us
    That the past really did happen,
    So why would you cut yourself
    If you just want to forget about it?

    Cutting doesn't really help you,
    Sometimes it can cause more pain,
    You think you will get better,
    But you're just left with shame.

    Myth of Love

    None of it matters anyway,
    It's all make believe right?
    These words, this love,
    A fairytale draped in sorrow,
    Not the fantasy she remembers.

    Dreams of a little girl,
    Floating on the wind,
    Drifting into memory,
    Reminding her of all she wanted,
    Showing her everything that isn't.

    Reality is a harsh friend,
    Truth revealed in pain,
    Pain melting into anger,
    Spewing poison through the mind,
    Convincing you love is not real.

    The unattainable need,
    You ache for love,
    But does love ache for you?

    The Great Wall of Ego

    The distance between us is growing stronger every day,
    I never thought that I`d have it in me to end it this way;
    But a broken heart screams louder than words in my head,
    And I`m sick of living off of the empty promises you said.

    The vacant "I love you`s" don`t make the cut this time,
    Because I`m getting over you on my own, on my dime --
    When we lived by yours, we both wound up hurt;
    But I mastered the fake smiles, became quite the expert.

    Ripping up pictures from the good old days way back when,
    I`d go to bed and wake up wanting to see them again,
    But too much has happened now, we`re slowly falling apart;
    So I rip you out of my memories carefully, starting with your heart.

    There`s silhouettes in all of the old cracked picture frames,
    Known as the mystery man who took his pride, went down in shame;
    The great wall of ego obviously meant more than I ever did,
    And I`m drowning in all of the misery that I pathetically hid.

    A picture perfect life with the boy of my happily-ever-after dreams,
    But it was merely a fantasy, further away than you made it seem;
    I`m no Cinderella and you`re definitely no prince charming now,
    Strutted in wearing rusty armor, rode in on a black and white cow --

    The color is missing from this scene, gone down in flames;
    And in Brokenheartsville, this heart break has brought you fame;
    You promised me a life of love, but sadness is what you bring;
    Living in the could have been`s and what if`s, I`m just so sick of always doing the right thing.

    (7) "When life gives you lemons make grape juice....always keep them guessing"

    Just to let you know, whenever i see this quote on the web, it always says "Watch them wonder how you did it" at the end, so i used that as guessing was just to hard a word to rhyme, lol. Hope thats ok

    Xx When Life Gives You Lemons xX

    Life gives us a lot of things
    We're expected to seize
    But yesterday life gave me lemons
    Now what do i do with these?

    The most obvious thing to do
    Would be to make lemonade
    But that would be the simple way
    The novelty soon fades

    I could sqeeze all the juice out
    Into a big water gun
    And shoot it into people's eyes!
    Impractical... but fun!

    I could use it on pancakes
    Squirt it on with added zest
    But making desserts isn't good
    I always make a mess

    You see life gives us funny things
    Don't turn up your nose and bin it
    When life gives you lemons, make grape juice
    Then watch them wonder how you did it

    *Fairytale of colored glass*
    By NyellMoonlight

    Paint a picture of this white melody,
    a ponytail without a pony prances in my sight
    in all symbols, misty visions of path that's
    igniting somewhere beyond the light...

    An ode to the life begins with sorrowful tones,
    angelic choir's voices sound like scratching a glass,
    with detuned harps singers determinate our diamonds
    maybe I'll just sit back and wait for the forecast;

    define me, break me, then leave me alone...
    I'll bribe my soul with some cheap harmony
    "fairy-tales aren't lies, they're just life minus the bad stuff"
    with some "Prince Charming" in the middle of fake story...

    Oh, maybe, I'll succeed in giving up,
    throw all my toys out the window tonight...
    The pale melody nestle in my eyes
    making all comforting darkness soft and bright.

    I don't need any compassion from your faceless figure,
    don't want your hand, your voice or words...
    mindful puzzles are out of control, twirling and spinning
    through toxic gates of ancient, empty worlds.

    Here lies enchanting poem that once contained emeralds
    after the holocaust of emotions and incoming shades;
    daggers hidden in arcs pierced my skin recklessly
    fairytale of colored glass shattered heart invades.

    Quote #5
    ``````````````````
    Middle Of Everything
    A lost and lonely teenage girl,
    Who's desperately trying to find her place in this world.
    Alone, she stumbles, with no place to go;
    She hides her face so the world'll never know.
    Broken inside, with a ripped paper heart -
    Her mind and body were torn apart.
    Just trying to find something to bring her to life;
    When everything's wrong and nothing is right.
    The streetlights come on, it's just another night -
    Of crying and hiding from everything in sight.
    She blasts her music and closes her eyes -
    Shuts off the world, until she feels alive.
    But nothing helps relieve the pain she hold;
    She felt this pain since she was two years old.
    Fighting and arguing, she couldn't understand,
    Why Mommy was still with that horrible man.
    Names were called out; their echos ran through -
    Through the young ears that were just barely two.
    She held her teddy and prayed for the end -
    Now fourteen years later, she's just playing pretend.
    Stuck in the middle of eveything, they're fighting about her -
    She just feels that they'd be much better without her.
    So she packs her bags and waits until it's quiet;
    Walks out the door as the heartbreak, she fights it.
    Runaway love, trying to find a home -
    Lost and scared, she feels so alone.
    Caught in the trap of what fighting can bring,
    She's the one caught in the Middle Of Everything.
    Ok, so THE QUOTES LEFT THAT ANYONE CAN USE ARE numbers 2, 3, 4, 6, and 10. If you reserved one of the quotes and didn't make the deadline you are welcome to re-reserve but please post within two-three days this time!!!
    Also, Nyell I thought about whether or not to include your poem because I did know the original quote but had changed it because I liked my ending better but I'll include it. Juts don't make it a habit to change the rules!! LOL Thanks for making the deadline though *wink*
  • NyellMoonlight
    I don't understand what's the problem? I used exactly the same quote that you wrote in your first post, I didn't change anything (number 10).
    I'm sorry. I'm just making lots of mistakes today. #10 has been used but you can use another quote. If you've already written the poem you can still post it on this site if you'd like and I'll happily comment it - it just won't be eligible for this contest. Sorry.
  • Teria
    17 years ago
    Haha. I've had those kind of days, quite often. :|
    I appreciate you letting me keep it and I'll do another quote now. (:
    Implanted to my skin.
    Fantasies infuse with reality,
    heart beats beat rapidly.
    Soulful thoughts increase,
    broken burdens decease.
    Smiles capture eyes,
    with silent joyful cries.
    Looks that touch the heart,
    indent what tore apart.
    Stitches mend the torn,
    words fix the worn.
    Laughter that never, ever ends,
    what should be more than friends.
    Natural feelings created between two,
    showing the connection between me and you.
    The looks tell it all, the thoughts deep within,
    the lips of fire frozen, implanted to my skin..
    " She could talk about him all day,
    but when he actually shows up she's speechless."
    Knowing her all too well,
    they watched her as she fell...
    No other one could break her down,
    Since no other one will come around.
    Cool, thanks. I just prefer the original quote, lol. It's been one of my faves since like, forever, lol so thats why i wanted to it kept the same, Thank yoooou!
  • Hey Brittknee
    17 years ago
    Thats not fair the deadline was the 22nd you cant unreserve peoples quotes
    I had my poem almost done, just beacuse I haven't been online I didn't have time to post it on this thread
  • aDORKable x3
    17 years ago
    Britt, I understand what you are saying, put no one took it, so post it anyways. It's hard for a lot of us to get on everyday and post things. I'm sure she understands. :]
    <3
  • Hey Brittknee
    17 years ago
    Yes the last poem posted has it in it
    its a couple posts above
  • aDORKable x3
    17 years ago
    Oh, I see.... :[ That does put a damper on things, now doesn't it. I'm sorry that that happened. I like your work.
  • Bre Monique
    17 years ago
    But britknee, I can unreserve people's quote because as I stated above if you reserve you MUST post within two or three days. I even gave you an extra day. I didn't want anyone to reserve and then never come back to post their poem when someone else could've done their quote all along. If you had sent me a PM (as one person did) at least saying you were working on it I would've gladly kept it reserved for you. How was I supposed to know if you were coming back or not? As I said with someone else, you can still post the poem in your profile and I'll happily comment it if you want but I won't be able to include it in the contest. Sorry.
    Because only half of the quotes have been done I'm postponing this contest until the 25th. I really wanted to have all of them done so hopefully by extending it there will be more time for others to join. If all ten are done before then I will start judging. If no one else enters by October then I'll just start judging anyway.
  • Hey Brittknee
    17 years ago
    I have been on this site for many years and I have never seen any other contest that has had a rule on how many days you have to get it in when that is not the deadline. Just to let you know.
    Yes I know you started the thread but it just seems unfair of a rule. No I wouldn NOT like you to comment on my poem. Thanks and no thanks
    Brittany
  • Bre Monique
    17 years ago
    Bitter much? And you may not have seen any other contest do that but this is MY contest and I stated it from the beginning. Make sure you read the rules clearly before you enter another contest, mmk?
    ...
    ~3~ "Maybe they're called dreams because theres no hope of them becoming reality"
    ...
    Hey Baby/The Way I Feel
    Hey baby, it's me again.
    I just want you to know,
    I love you with my big, fat heart,
    But I think it's time to go.
    We've had this great relationship,
    For a couple of months.
    I'm glad that we have stuck around,
    To share this thing called love.
    I didn't want to hurt you,
    Or ruin your whole life.
    In fact, I thought one of these days,
    We'd get through this hard strife.
    But I guess sometimes things don't turn out,
    The way we want them to,
    And I'm pretty sure you cannot doubt,
    How some big plans fall through.
    I should have made some better choices,
    But I guess it's now too late.
    Let's forget about the time we shared,
    And accept this thing called fate.
    Please try to forgive me,
    I love you very much,
    But my parents aren't too ecstatic,
    When they see the both of us.
    You'll always be my baby,
    This I promise you.
    Even when we've parted ways,
    And the big plan's fallen through.
    Maybe they're called dreams,
    For more than "just because".
    Maybe there's a thing,
    Called undoing what's been done.
    Or maybe it's because,
    Our dreams will never be,
    What we have wished and hoped for:
    Part of reality.
    I love you, dearest sweet,
    This really is goodbye.
    Hurry, go home fast,
    So you won't see me cry.
