Publishing?

I think I'm ready to try to get published, start submitting work to magazines and such. Those of you who have been through this before, any advice? Can anyone recommend any good places to start? I apologize if this has been brought up before, I've been on a little hiatus if you will, but now that I'm in college the time is ripe for risk taking!
