    Does anyone find Roger Waters', Gilmour's and Barrett's lyrics poetic?

    I wonder why they weren't poets..

    Leonard Cohen, Dylan, Coldplay, Dashboard Confessional...similar lines

    Sure man, most great songwriters, like Barret or Buckley or Dylan have songs that are pure poetry, and if their songs were laid out like poems we'd not know the difference.

    It's all about beats and flow, which is standard to both mediums....

    Ugh, maybe in a crappy poet kinda way....but you can't put Bono in the same league as Jeff Buckley and Syd Barret...he's like pop rock and they are troubled genius visionairies...sort of.

    Anyone can write great lyrics when their high as a kite.

    example: comfortably numb, breathe, darkside of the moon.

    I have to agree with Katrina. I wrote so many "works of art" while tipsy, only to see them for the crap they were the next morning. So I believe that drugs and alcohol tend to stifle creativity. Not to say it can't be done with 'enhancements', but still...
