I despise smokers, i think they should all be outlawed or exterminated. They are a plague on the human race. They are a disgusting group of people that have no care for others and defile theirselves with rotten stench and bad breath.

The only upside to smokers is that (in England) they are heavily taxed and give a shed load of money to the government to fuel their loathsome addiction.

They are finally coming around to elliminating smokers in England -
You cannot smoke anywhere there are other people (Enclosed public spaces)
Cannot smoke in another work vehicle that will be (at any time) used by another person.
You can no longer smoke at the wheel of a car.
They are looking into whether you should be allowed to smoke in your home if you have children or pets. As they do not have a choice on whether to inhale poisonous gasses or not.

Oh p.s I smoke. Anyone got a light?

and i'm still allowed to argue about smoking because i don't wear perfume.

I know a lot of people that smoke, but im not really against it. i do know there are risks to it from losing family members due to getting lung cancer from smoking all their lives. though, when i see a smoker in a restaurant it doesn't bother me normally. i just go about what im doing and think i'll do my thing, they do theirs. i don't really care, honestly. im more busy with what im doing, to worry or take time out to argue or anything... dont have time for that. my man smokes..my dad smokes. my mom smokes... though, i do not smoke.. im not for smoking myself, but as for others- its their choice and i let it be. i've saw it can get expensive, since my man buys a lot and smokes a lot, but i never really told him to stop. its on him. if he wants to smoke, its all cool. if not, thats cool.. im not really a big judging on it, well i try not to be.

though..its hard being pregnant now, any smells while im pregnant set me off and especially cigarette smoke makes me almost puke...purfumes, deodrants, anything. i dont know if its my hormones changing or what, but i hope no one ever gets offended by it. i ask them nicely when i've ate it bothers me mostly, so if i just get done eating and someone lights up a cigg and im stuffed, then im about to gag from the smell.. normally when im not eating or anything- it doesn't bother me. i just ask my man, "Hey, can you aim it that way? sorry." he don't get mad. though sometimes i walk away or whatever. its hard being pregnant because many think ur judging them when u cant help certain smells bothering u.

Benzene, Formaldehyde, Carbon Monoxide, Arsenic and Hydrogen Cyanide (used in gas chambers)! Yet we get pleasure from it. Now that we have had our pleasure, what do we do with the cigarette butt as a rule? Flick it onto the floor somewhere ...
I've smoked now for 13 years, and for the last 10 years i've thought it was one of the most disgusting habits out there. It disgusts me, and i do it.

Ok, I apologise .. I didn't wish to offend any of the smokers out there - what i said about exterminating them wasn't actually meant.

When you say that group slandering isn't condoned - i agree to a certain extent. Painting everyone wish the same brush isn't right. This question however was directed at a group of people. "What are your views on smokers No2" so i gave my thoughts on the group in general. I'll try to refrain from doing it in the future.

I quit doing drugs, and don't wanna hear about nicotine being a drug....but i tried to quit smoking, and yes it is a filty habit, but jesus coffee and cigarettes and is all i got left, there could be a lot worse things in lfe i could be doing....

^Because if its legal, why should I have to be ashamed of my habit and walk on eggshells around people. I will never smoke into someones path or smoke in someone's face or something stupid like that. But if you walk by me and you're a non-smoker, I'm not going to put out my cigarette just to satisfy your needs. It's unhealthy and can be pretty gross, but its my habit and thats that. When they outlaw it, I'll be done and cool but for now its a free damn country.

I don't have a problem with them. I don't smoke, but that's just me. There are lots of things that could kill me over time that I've been exposed to, least of all being cigarette smoke. What about cleaner air in cities? Anti-smoking, anti-drug, anti-gun, anti-gay marriage, laws against lifestyles, they're just frivolous laws people come up with when they don't want to deal with the real problem. I have a problem with reactionary governments telling its people how to live their lives. Though taxes on it wouldn't be a bad idea (unfortunately I'm pretty sure such taxes are unconstitutional here, taxing being one-step away from getting rid of it, or controlling it entirely, idk, something about a Boston Tea Party thing, we Americans are a funny sort).

^My favorite kind of people, people who don't smoke, but don't feel the need to be self-righteous about it and slander smokers. Props to ya!

Family members and friends of mine smoke. It doesn't bother me. Only when they don't be considerate of the people around them, but that doesn't happen much, and when it does I will be the first to tell them that.

I don't, I suppose, necessarily like smoking, but I don't hate it as much as some people. I can handle it, maybe that's because I've always grown up with it.

But the laws that are coming in to stop smoking away from other people here, are good and I'm glad they've come in.

That's my view anyway.

I have asthma, I can't stand when people smoke around me, one; because it could potentially kill me and two; its doing more damage than its giving you pleasure.

Not one person invented smoking, obviously. Tobacco became popular in the United States when our country were first colonies. At first, we thought tobacco wasn't bad for you because we grew it from the earth. It probably WASN'T as bad then because most people just smoked tobacco out of a pipe. Nowadays its a lot worse because we have cigarettes with hundreds of additives.

If the message on the packet puts you off you should do what I do. I buy foreign cigarettes. I have no idea what the message on the back says so to me its saying

"Hope you enjoy these wonderful cigarettes, have a beautiful day"

I feel happy everytime I reach for a cancer stick.

I hate smoking. It's stinks, it makes me cough and it's bad for everyone who's standing around. So much kids get lung cancer because their parents smoke. Really, it should be prohibited.

But I don't care if people want to smoke, as long as they don't bother any one with it.

The only time i would for sure never smoke is while pregnant, or as ive said before, around children.
some people smoke packs and packs a day.. oy! i smoke, if i have a steady supply, probably a pack and a half a week at most.if im doing certain drugs though, i can go through a pack in a few hours. which i dont recommend. but i dont need to smoke. havent had one in a good week, my supply ran out. you dont see me fiending.

Smoking is just a slow form of suicide, its your life if you want to abuse your health its your choice. Leave the smokers alone.

this is said like people who are against it literally go up to someone smoking and tell them they're a holes or something. anybody with any sense of decency, like half the people practically against it in this thread are, don't get rude. so don't 'accuse' us of insulting or attacking you/smokers as though that's a real conviction. the internet is a place to speak your mind, it's not like we're aiming our own thoughts right in your face. and anyway, that's what this thread was for. to express our opinions. you knew there'd be a 50/50, so don't tell US to leave YOU alone. just don't come into the thread.

I would like to point out that non-smokers do (Very often) speak their mind toward smokers, and expect smokers to give way. We are seen as almost an inferior creature.
I don't smoke in front of any non-smoker .. it's just down right rude to force my habit onto them. What i also wouldn't do is tell a non-smoker about their bad bodily odours. Thats just as rude; yet how many times have you heard a smoker get told they stink? Me personally .. hundreds!

I smoke and I'm with 90% of the criticism about smokers, its horrid. What i don't like is people saying smokers arent victimised ... We are in my country! We pay incredible amounts of tax on something we are addicted to, do you see people paying through the nose at methodone clinics?
We are forced out of workplaces/bars/clubs. Its now even illegal to smoke at the wheel of a car. That is being singled out.

I want to give it up, its too damn hard to smoke nowadays.

^^I agree to an extent. I definitely don't want to play victim as a smoker but I despise how its okay for a non-smoker to slam into a smoker and be rude and cruel and harsh but if a smoker tells them to piss off and quit it, THEY have a problem. its a lousy double standard.

I still believe they're just like fat people, cannot hate on one group without getting backlash. Why hate on the other?

Im more against it then with it by a long way, my grandad smoked when he was younger and now he has had 7 oporations and now a 8th to put a shock thing on his heart just incase it stops all from smoking... if the smell didnt put me off that deffently did.

I smoke myself, i don't smoke near my friends i got some consideration near non-smokers, but its the smokers own choice.

Today's supposed to be my last day smoking...I'm going on vacation with my mom and she hates it so thats automatically five days without smoking so hopefully I'll take this as an opportunity to finally quit.
