Haiku

I was wondering, been to many different sites reagrding Haiku's some say they should be only about nature, others not... which is it?

Actually there are some schools of poetry that hold there is a difference between Eastern and Western haiku (though at the moment I don't recall what it is). There are also other similiar haiku or different Eastern forms like renga, hokku, haibun, tanka, haiga, etc.
