    Porcelain Reminders

I wish I could hear the sun
not as a gleaming ball of fire in the sky
but as a song of color.
I wish I could smell the wind as it touches the green grass
    like an explosion of worlds
a joyful reunion as they touch, momentarily.
I wish I could breathe light
the pure energy burning out my mind
until I can no longer see anything and the world is black.
Until the broken shards of porcelain dissappear from my room
the bloodstains on them dissappearing as well
    the proof of my sins
Only then will I truly see
the rainbows that even the darkness make
the world as it is meant to be
A shattered crystal heart lies on my floor
I pretend to not notice it
hoping that if I crush it enough times, my memories will be crushed as well
and I will no longer be a memory myself,
a memory of the horrible longing to fall
because it is the closest thing to flight.
And like a butterfly, my tainted wings dripping with grime
I fly through the cleansing rain,
and out from my porcelain mask, my eyes can see again.

    Holes in the River

I wonder... if every time I dream of you,
    you also dream of me.
If you can feel the longing with which I stare at your dark hair,
my fingers reaching out to touch it...
    but it's never really there.

I wish... that you were meant for me,
    you angel of pure light.
But my broken self is unworthy,
    of something so beautiful,
I have to fight against my darkness,
    fight against your pull.

I sing... if only you could hear my cry,
but my sorrow is silence itself.
    And once again I'm hiding,
    from your gorgeous, dusty eyes,
I don't want to ruin you,
to consume you with my lies.

Your heart... like a cup of pure water,
I cannot touch it, cannot sip,
    temptation in it's simplest form,
I only want the tiniest drink,
from the goblet that is you,
but I have no choice but to sink.

Cruelty... whoever made you is full of,
to give the world such beauty,
    someone who draws me so,
who calls to me with every breath,
my hands...my body moves for you,
    I am yours till death.

    Hiding... in the shadows still,
    following your life,
because even though I want you,
    I am scared of myself,
that my darkness will consume you...
    and there'll be nobody else.

Calling... is my soul, for you,
reaching out to touch you're face,
wanting you to hold me as I'm,
    embracing your pure light,
your heat filling me like fire,
I don't have the will to fight.

    Melting... into you're red mouth,
    a smiling pit of sorrow,
    for I realize you've dissappeared,
    left me in the blue,
    consumed by the river's holes,
I have no choice but to follow you.

Holding On To Wasted Love (Trijan Refrain)

Glass of cold whiskey in my hand
As I glare at the clock
    Hours late, I don't understand
It's like all time has stopped
"Have one more shot," runs in my head
Realizing now I've been so blind
    "Have one more shot,"
    "Have one more shot,"
Raising the glass, taste most unkind.

Glass of cold whiskey in my hand
    Praying you'll be here soon
    Teardrops falling on wedding band
    Sat in this empty room
Once more, you've gone away from me
Flirting with every girl you see
    Once more, you've gone
    Once more, you've gone
Just admit it, set my heart free.

Glass of cold whiskey in my hand
    Heart cracking into two
Seems that I just can't understand
Why you've left me so blue
I'm holding on to wasted love
You just left when push came to shove
    I'm holding on
    I'm holding on
Can't let go of this wasted love.

The Trijan Refrain, created by Jan Turner, consists of three 9-line stanzas, for a total of 27 lines.
Line 1 is the same in all three stanzas, although a variation of the form is not to repeat the same line
at the beginning of each stanza. In other words, the beginning line of each stanza can be different.
The first four syllables of line 5 in each stanza are repeated as the double-refrain for lines 7 and 8.
The Trijan Refrain is a rhyming poem with a set meter and rhyme scheme as follows:

Rhyme scheme: a/b/a/b/c/c/d,d refrain of first 4 words of line five /c

    Meter: 8/6/8/6/8/8/4,4 refrain/8

    It's To Late For Words

You've blown to many chances, gone one step to far
Finally beginning to realize, what a frightful liar you are
Caught red handed, when I walked in on your deceit
Now I'm erasing all our memories, time to hit delete

It's going to be difficult, for you my heart still yearns
So tired of giving everything, getting nothing in return
Never cared less, about the horrendous pain you caused
Supposed to love me, but we were constantly at war

Even as these thoughts roam, you're out at the bar
Didn't you ever realize, you can only push me so far?
No more will I weep, waiting for you to come home
Now I've reached the conclusion, I'm better of alone

And yet you keep trying, trying always to win me back
But everything I want {Respect, trust} is what you lack
Don't need your lies, or all of the trouble you stirred
Might as well shut your mouth now, it's to late for words

    Keep That Piece

You told me this morning you're leaving me -
That there was nothing that I could do.
You told me that the time had come,
And this decision, you thought it through.

You held my hand, just one last time -
Then you gently kissed my lips.
You told me that you'd miss me a lot,
As your hands rested on my hips.

    I cried as I begged you not to go;
The tears welled in my eyes.
You looked at me so sadly -
And all you could do was sigh.

You told me that you had to go,
I knew that you were right.
So as you picked up your bags,
    I hope you'd be alright.

I watched the plane lift off the ground -
I crumbled to my knees and cried.
    There was nothing that I could ever do;
It was like a part of me had died.

With my hands pressed onto the glass,
I blew to you my last kiss goodbye.
As you traveled halfway across the world -
Your magic carpet ride in the sky.

My little solider, all big and so tough,
Off to the front to fight.
All I can do is love him and care,
And hope that he'll be alright.

As I stood back up, I realized something
And my wall of tears was released:
When you left, I lost part of my heart.
I just want you to Keep That Piece.

    Trail of my Heart

I retrace my steps back in time,
To try to find out where I lost it,
But you set out this hill to climb,
To hide your hesitation to commit.

I did my best to make it to the top,
Maybe to impress you, or maybe,
So that my beating heart would stop,
As I push you off the edge, away from me.

Because as long as it isn`t beating,
I`m not sick with these thoughts of you,
And I won`t keep on repeating,
These silly mistakes you have me do.

The climb to the top was hard, but,
Standing at the top with you is the worst,
And I can`t fight the feeling in my gut,
When my heart is ready to give up and burst.

The walk back down the bottom was a relief,
Because in the back of my mind I knew,
I was escaping from you and all your grief,
And the trail of my heart was done with finding you.

    Paper Wings

    Lines originally sung by Oasis,
    Song --> Wonderwall
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

Back beat the word was on the street,
That the fire in your heart is out,
I'm sure you've heard it all before,
But you never really had a doubt.

    Cigarette smoke entwines my fingers,
And the thought of him still lingers,
But I`ll try my hardest not to hurt you,
When I sit down to tell you we`re through.
In all of this time, I`ve found it kind of neat,
    That I like the sound of running feet;
And the other boys who come and go,
They run at early light, but they run slow.
Taking their time to whisper lines so sweet --
Back beat the word was on the street.

We drink to the hearts that we break,
And laugh at the innocent lives we take,
`Cuz in a life of tragic and forgotten fairy-tales,
We`d rather forget the miserable details.
Lost and trapped in this life, I need a way out,
    And his empty promises I don`t doubt;
I know he`s a heartbreaker disguised in success,
But he does the trick, and I`m hard to impress.
Late last night, I could swear I heard you shout,
That the fire in your heart is out.

The road we haven`t yet dared go down,
    Leads us to the right, through a ghost town;
But I`ll swallow my fear with a glass of wine,
And for one more night, pretend you aren`t mine.
I`ve never asked for much, but I want a little more,
And I`d love to see you turn and walk out that door.
I thought I could handle it, but I do regret,
    All these nights my conscience won`t let me forget;
And these good-byes that I just can`t ignore,
I`m sure you`ve heard it all before.

He shines in my eyes, but you take it for you,
`Cuz you never heard the stories of what we do,
And I`m sure that on nights when you`re gone,
You`re wondering why I still lead you on.
    But in the back of your mind, you don`t doubt;
That you`re the only one I can`t live without.
And this note left out will give me the paper wings,
    To fly away, and stop tugging on your heartstrings;
Everyone told you this, said they figured me out,
But you never really had a doubt.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Glosa-Verse: A Spanish form invented by court poets in the 14th and 15th centuries. An opening quatrain, called a 'cabeza' is chosen from another poet, or song. The glosa elaborates or 'glosses' on the quatrain with four ten line stanzas, their concluding lines taken consecutively from the quatrain and their sixth and ninth lines rhyming with the borrowed tenth.
