I agree with Britt and Sam on this one. They are your parents and should have brains enough to know not to smoke it in the house never mind have a flippin plant in the house as well. Talk to them, definitely talk to them. Just be careful how you approach the subject with them. Maybe say something like "there was this odd smell coming from your room, what was it?" or "what kind of plant is that in your bathroom?" Strange how the child is more of an ADULT than the parents are. Good Luck! |

Ummm.... Not all parents 'know what their doing' I know if I found a pot plant in my parents room I would freak! Just because their adults doesn't always mean their good role models, besides as their child you have a right to know. |

Forgive me if I'm wrong....but doesn't psychology tell us we're very close to a carbon copy of our parents? You know, like the studies say, when parents are addicted to drugs, alcohol, or chain smoking, the higher addiction risk to these drugs is passed down to the child. Therefore, wouldn't you say that if they were smoking pot before the child was born; wouldn't it be best to eliminate it all together from the household? For if the child see's their role model smoking pot, and they already have a higher addiction tendency in their genetics....then wouldn't it be best for the parent to throw it all away and start fresh, so as not to possibly influence anymore addiction in their child's life? Again, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I got out of a couple college courses of psychology. I suggest you voice your concerns with your parents. |

The addictions can only happen if your taking the substance while your pregnant hav u eva heard of a heroin baby... well anywayz to those who havnt itz when the mother takez heroin while pregnant with the child and the child becomes addicted to it while its still in her stomach and wen they are born they dont stop crying because they want the drug and sometimez parents even giv it to them jus to shut the baby up being junkies they wouldnt like the screaming you kno...but my mum doez speed (she only recently started) and my brother doez pot (eva since he was 14) but he has medical reasons so sometimes its not all wat it seems :) juz ask dem bout it lol datz ma 2 centz lol |

You should really talk to your parents, if it were me I couldn't sleep at night If my parents smoked pot. Neither of my parents smoke anything but I know it would bother me if one of them started. |

Yeah, i can see from everyones arguments that some of us are a bit touchy on this...so, this is only my opinion, i'm sorry if i cause offense or anything...One thing i must ask...what is it that you're going to ask your parents...i found out my dad smokes pot when i was small...one thing i've found...teenagers know more about drugs and stuff than they should...i think that really, what you need to do is find out as much info on it as possible, and then ask yourself what it is you want to know from your parents...and, if and when you ask them, i think it would be best if you had someone with you...and if this is out of date, i am so sorry : ) |

Milly, in non-medical addictive cases marijuana can be a big deal. Though not as harmful as other drugs, THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) the active ingredient in marijuana can and will cause damage. Take a look at what scientists have learned from THC stimulated animals, it greatly disrupts motor coordination, perceptual skills, and reaction time. So let’s say, you smoke and then go for a ride, with all those reduced skills your chance of an accident is very big! THC runs through your blood for at least two months after only one smoking, and although the effects have lessoned, they are still there. So even though you might not think it's a big deal to smoke pot one night, and then drive to work the next morning, the poor soul who perhaps kept clean of drugs might not feel the same when THC interferes with driving skills and you smack into them. Addictions like that affect more than just you. That’s just one reason out of many of what pot does to a person. If you’re going to smoke pot daily, save the world and isolate yourself till you realize how stupid it is. In conclustion to the main poster, talk to your parents.....perhaps save a life. |
