Ignore it. Your parents are adults and know what they're doing.
My stepmom and my fiance's dad smoke the occasional joint. Albeit, they tend to smoke to help them sleep, but it's their prerogative. Nothing to do with me.

I agree with Britt and Sam on this one. They are your parents and should have brains enough to know not to smoke it in the house never mind have a flippin plant in the house as well. Talk to them, definitely talk to them. Just be careful how you approach the subject with them. Maybe say something like "there was this odd smell coming from your room, what was it?" or "what kind of plant is that in your bathroom?" Strange how the child is more of an ADULT than the parents are. Good Luck!

Well then. Smoke it, eh? Atleast Me Know what happened to your brain cells. Or, maybe it's a birth defect.

I'd ask them about it...I mean if they want to smoke it...they're adults and they can and all...but just see whats up

Ummm.... Not all parents 'know what their doing' I know if I found a pot plant in my parents room I would freak! Just because their adults doesn't always mean their good role models, besides as their child you have a right to know.
I agree with Britt, Sam, and Willow, they should have enough brain cells left to know that pot is ILLEGAL and if they ever got caught they could cause you and theirselfs a lot more greif then needed.
I had a boyfriend who smoked pot and it was one of the worst decitions he could have ever made because it ended up ruining his life and part of mine as well.
Deffinitely confront them about it, you can even go about it in a round about way but they shouldn't be keeping secrets from you...exspeially ones concerning pot.

Sorry..I know I'm not the best at giving advice, but I'm so tired of visiting sites where people on furums practicly discriminate others just because they think their "immature" I'm not saying that some of the stuff that is said isn't wrong...I'm just trying to make a point that its not right to go around saying things like "Oh yeah thats real mature coming from someone of the age 12" or any age really...it doesn't matter what age you are, there are some kids as young as the age 13 who are 10 times more mature then people the age of 50, so if you have a problem with what someone is saying, fine. But don't try to blame it on age.

I agree with everyone above who said to confront their parents.

I would definitely not want my mother getting used to the ganja although sometimes I think it would help her chill out...STILL its not good!

I don't think its something to be extremely concerned about but definitely worth discussing with your parental units.

I personally would confront them about it. They are suppose to be an example to you.

I once found pot in my parents room and I told my mom and it turned out to be my step dads which wasn't much of a surprise. He was such a drunk and stoner. Thank god my mom finally ended it with that low life!

"Okay am I allowed to speak freely here? Oh yes I am...

Gem, it's a good thing that that's your advise, because that means NOONE has to actually take it...

Lord, yes ignore the fact of what your parents are doing is illegal and that hay maybe one day you can grow up to be just like them...Please."

It isn't illegal where i live
And she may grow up just like them?? She's not a carbon copy of her parents. She has her own brain.
Are you trying to say that because my father in law smokes a joint to get to sleep at night because his illnesses keep him awake, i'm going to start doing that to? Grow up man before you start having a go at people you know nothing about.
I told her to ignore it because trying to stop her parents from doing it may cause more trouble than it's worth (speaking from experience)
I didn't say she HAD to take my advice i was telling her what worked for me.
So think before you speak, you child.

    HEY!
    This is pretty funny.

Pot impares thinking, speaking, and motor skills. Infact, if you smoke it for just sheer pleasure.. You usually end up in almost a coma state by the end of the time your high wears off. It's most cases.

It's illegal in American, as Samantha said. So obviously it isnt something to take lightly. Not around here atleast. Because it screws things up for a lot of people. She should talk to her parents.

My parents used to smoke. And I sat down and talked to them about it. and they maturely admitted there mistakes, explained to me if they were addicted or if they werent, and then.. I understood better. I was 12, and got really upset. But after sitting down and talking about their decisions and their mistakes, I realized it was their decision and a human instinct sometimes to make such things.

No one was attacking your family, Gem. Don't twist it to seem that way.

Forgive me if I'm wrong....but doesn't psychology tell us we're very close to a carbon copy of our parents? You know, like the studies say, when parents are addicted to drugs, alcohol, or chain smoking, the higher addiction risk to these drugs is passed down to the child. Therefore, wouldn't you say that if they were smoking pot before the child was born; wouldn't it be best to eliminate it all together from the household? For if the child see's their role model smoking pot, and they already have a higher addiction tendency in their genetics....then wouldn't it be best for the parent to throw it all away and start fresh, so as not to possibly influence anymore addiction in their child's life? Again, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I got out of a couple college courses of psychology. I suggest you voice your concerns with your parents.

The addictions can only happen if your taking the substance while your pregnant hav u eva heard of a heroin baby... well anywayz to those who havnt itz when the mother takez heroin while pregnant with the child and the child becomes addicted to it while its still in her stomach and wen they are born they dont stop crying because they want the drug and sometimez parents even giv it to them jus to shut the baby up being junkies they wouldnt like the screaming you kno...but my mum doez speed (she only recently started) and my brother doez pot (eva since he was 14) but he has medical reasons so sometimes its not all wat it seems :) juz ask dem bout it lol datz ma 2 centz lol

You should really talk to your parents, if it were me I couldn't sleep at night If my parents smoked pot. Neither of my parents smoke anything but I know it would bother me if one of them started.

I agree wit the talking 2 ur parents-im pretty sure my mom and her bf r doing stuff like that-i mean in the middle of the nite the police came and searched there room-and my brother started having hallucinations... my dad sayz itz prob cuz they have pot--or sumthing... now i havent talked 2 my mom cuz i dont literally talk 2 my mom... but idk how 2 bring it up... but annywayz ima gunna talk 2 her sumtime... cuz im sick of the stench ><

Oh-i just wanted 2 say-yes ur pretty much rite Brigitte-i may just beh 12 turning 13, but yes itz kinda common sense. I--thankfully--am saying no 2 drugs, i no 4 sure if i smoke it'll kill meh faster than normal ppl--i have asthma, then also, wen my sister askes my dad if she can try sum of his beer-i think: shez gunna get addicted one day. and my sis sayz no shez not but... my mom drinks alot...so i think it'll beh passed onto my sis...

but anyway-4 a kid 2 see the parent smoking-they usually will think itz fine cuz parents r role models... so really i would share ur concerns wit ur parents

Its only pot get over it for foooks sake!... its stupid!
its not that big of a deal and here where i live..there going to legalise it...whoopie doo
my mum has smoked it since she was 13 and i have smoked it for 2 yrs..and erm well shes not retarded...think bout it... ur dad might come home and skip around the house in a tutu to relax after work..some others might have a beer... or a cone/joint... ermm DEAL WITH IT.. it aint thqat big of a deal./.its just pot
so if ur gona be a girl about it... then go and skip with ur daddio in a tutu

  • Wasted Fake Smiles

^lmao my dad skips around in a tutu when he comes home from work=p jk.

anyway, my mom smoked pot and did other drugs up until she found out she was pregnant with me, then started again once i was born. i am not addicted to any sort of drug, nor am i ever going to be. my dad's dad was addicted to drugs. my dad isn't. so people saying that most kids grow up and do the same things are your parents. theres 2 cases in 2 generations that haven't.

but anywayz, enough about that. just talk to your parents about it, as about a million people have said.

Yeah, i can see from everyones arguments that some of us are a bit touchy on this...so, this is only my opinion, i'm sorry if i cause offense or anything...One thing i must ask...what is it that you're going to ask your parents...i found out my dad smokes pot when i was small...one thing i've found...teenagers know more about drugs and stuff than they should...i think that really, what you need to do is find out as much info on it as possible, and then ask yourself what it is you want to know from your parents...and, if and when you ask them, i think it would be best if you had someone with you...and if this is out of date, i am so sorry : )

Milly, in non-medical addictive cases marijuana can be a big deal. Though not as harmful as other drugs, THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) the active ingredient in marijuana can and will cause damage. Take a look at what scientists have learned from THC stimulated animals, it greatly disrupts motor coordination, perceptual skills, and reaction time. So let’s say, you smoke and then go for a ride, with all those reduced skills your chance of an accident is very big! THC runs through your blood for at least two months after only one smoking, and although the effects have lessoned, they are still there. So even though you might not think it's a big deal to smoke pot one night, and then drive to work the next morning, the poor soul who perhaps kept clean of drugs might not feel the same when THC interferes with driving skills and you smack into them. Addictions like that affect more than just you. That’s just one reason out of many of what pot does to a person. If you’re going to smoke pot daily, save the world and isolate yourself till you realize how stupid it is. In conclustion to the main poster, talk to your parents.....perhaps save a life.

    Hahahahahaha

I can't believe this thread is still alive.

any so-called negative effects of THC are super-hyped. why? because the U.S. gov believes that to regulate and cut down on harder drug use (aka coke, heroin, crystal meth) that they need to stop it at the source, marijuana, the "gateway drug" (which is a ridiculous conspiracy) so yeah...if you smoke it a lot its bad for your lungs...but honestly, thats about it. yeah it slows down your motor-reaction skills but honestly, after the high wears off, there's really no lasting effects so I'd like to know where the person above acquired their information.
