"20 Questions" for the mods (or more)

  • PnQ Mod Account
    17 years ago

    Everything you wanted to know about the mods, but were afraid to ask!!

    Here is a way you can get to know us on a personal level.

    Ask us anything! (Keep it clean though)

    We will answer all questions truthfully (we can answer as vaguely or specifically as we want - for example... if you asked my age, I could truthfully say "I'm over 35" without spilling my exact age...that way if the question is too personal, we can still answer it)

    Please don't use this thread to ask about website issues/problems. there are threads in the feedback forum for that.

    You may ask questions where the answer is purely our opinion or belief, but if you do, you may not answer back with your opinion. This is just a place to get the answers about us, not to debate what we believe and why.

    You can direct your question to "All Mods" or a specific mod.

    Only address mods that have edited in their name below. Ok... Ask away!!! (I'll be back tomorrow to answer any questions that come in tonight)

    Well, those are not really personal questions and are site related... I will answer the first one, though.

    I'm not positive who the first mod was (other than the owner, Janis) but Sean Allen was a mod before I was, and I believe Aken Sol was too. I think those are the only 2 mods that are still active or semi-active that were mods before me.

    As for the second question, you don't need to know that.

    To all mods: What makes you a good Mod?

    Edit: Why shouldn't anyone need not know who used to be a mod?

    To all mods:

    Have you ever moderated other websites before or as well as this one?

    What is your current occupation?

    What would you consider the hardest moment in your life, that you have had to overcome and how have you grown from it as a person?

    What would you consider to be your greatest poem that you have posted on this site?

    What, if any religion do you belong to?

    If you were given a certain amount of money to give to one charity of your choosing what would it be?

    Why did you choose to become a mod?

    *okay that is all for now, I understand if you don't want to answer them all they might be too personal, but I never deny a chance to ask questions*

  • my name is Llama

    Also Bob what is your display picture of?

  • Kevin

    Bob, didn't Ann say

    "Ask us anything"...as long as it's not about website issues/problems.

    I'd love to know what the Mods look for in a man/woman.

    Also, do you miss just being a normal member? Do you remember what that was like?

    Question for Bob....Does your bike have a name?and....are you of Native American descent?

  • Noir
    17 years ago

    Now here's my question:

    If you want to become a mod, god forbid I don't...Is the screening process or voting process biased? As in you would favor those you know rather than those who are qualified yet you do not know

  • PnQ Mod Account
    17 years ago

    Oh wow... so may questions... hopefully I will get them all.. if I miss any, just let me know.

    Brett - What makes me a good Mod, I really don't know, I think that would be more for the other mods and Admin to answer about us.
    ---------------------
    Tastelesse - "do you have any kids? And if yes, how are they like? Do you suggest to them to join PnQ?" - No, I don't have any kids, but if I did, I would encourage them to join if they were interested in poetry.
    ---------
    JHarrisone - The name of my cat is Tasselhoff Burrfoot after a character in some sci-fi/fantasy books my husband reads. We call him Taz, unless he's in trouble, lol, then he gets the full name!

    (Sorry about the e on the end of your names you two, that's what it took to get Kevin to spell my name correctly...) :)
    -----------------

    my name is Llama:
    Have you ever moderated other websites before or as well as this one? - no

    What is your current occupation? Secretary and Teacher (computer and yearbook advisor)

    What would you consider the hardest moment in your life, that you have had to overcome and how have you grown from it as a person?

    Wow.. The hardest moment in my life was when the Dr. looked me in the eye and told me that biological children were not possible. Sometimes I don't think I've actually overcome that, though... I still have my tough times. I think I grow from it every day.. or at least every time I think about it.

    What would you consider to be your greatest poem that you have posted on this site?

    Hmmmm.... of the ones I have posted now, probably "The Wind That Blew My Heart Away" or "A Kiss to Build a Dream On"

    What, if any religion do you belong to?
    Christian - Baptist

    If you were given a certain amount of money to give to one charity of your choosing what would it be?

    Probably St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, or some animal related charity.

    Why did you choose to become a mod? - oh wow, that was so long ago... I guess because I wanted to help make this a better site.
    ----------------------

    Kevin:
    I'd love to know what the Mods look for in a man/woman. - Honesty, respect - same things I want to see in a friend.

    Also, do you miss just being a normal member? Do you remember what that was like? - no and no, not really.
    ---------------------

    eLISabetta- I found P & Q when I was looking for friendship quotes. first poem - probably 6 or 7 - married for 19 1/2 years - no children - ski diving? or did you mean sky diving? yes, kind of.. but I don't know if I'd have the guts to go through with it...
    --------------

    Noir - again, that's a site based question, not a personal opinion. But I can see why you'd think it IS opinion. So i'm going to humor you.

    first of all the key is "qualified" if someone I know wants to be a mod and is not qualified, I would vote against them.

    If someone is sugggested or inquires about the position that I don't know, I say that I don't know them well enough to offer an opinion, then I will go out and research them as best I can.. or ask others about them.

    What makes you a good Mod?

    Well, can't really base touch on this, for it would more or less be determined by the members, other mods, and admin of the site on what makes me a good Mod, bad Mod or any of the above.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Have you ever moderated other websites before or as well as this one?
    Yes, I've Moderated several over websites besides this one.
    What is your current occupation?
    I am an Assistant Manager for Food and Beverage at a Amusement Park.
    What would you consider the hardest moment in your life, that you have had to overcome and how have you grown from it as a person?
    I personally would have to say when I lost a fellow friend in a car accident, it was tough to go through and I ended up writting a lot about lossing a loved one, I've grown from it because I know realize they don't want us to moron for them, instead they want us to remember the all the happy times and how much more life has in store.
    What would you consider to be your greatest poem that you have posted on this site?
    I have many poems on here that I love, however; one that I like the most is called, "Passion Within"
    What, if any religion do you belong to?
    Roman Catholic
    If you were given a certain amount of money to give to one charity of your choosing what would it be?
    I'd give it to dieing children, for example, St. Judes Hospital.
    Why did you choose to become a mod?
    I chose to become a Moderator, because I felt that I could help the site, and make it better. Not just because of that, I also wanted to learn more about poetry and different styles of writting. Becoming a Moderator, is a hard and non-stop job, that I volountered to do, I am very gratefull for I have learned so much in this postion, dealing with people, writting better, growing as a person, etc.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I'd love to know what the Mods look for in a man/woman.

    Well it is easy for me, I look for honesty, trustworthy, faithful, loving, caring, respectful to me and friends. As I always say, it doesn't matter about appareance, it matters about personality and how they act. Ever hear the saying, "Don't judge a book by it's cover." ? Well that is excactly how I feel about people.

    Also, do you miss just being a normal member? Do you remember what that was like?

    Of course, who wouldn't? And yes I remember what it was like, however, not sure if I would stay on the site or not if I wasn't a Mod anymore, for, I don't think I could take seeing things go that need taking care of.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    how did u come to find p&q
    The whole reason I started writing poetry is because of my ex. When I was in my Senior year of High School, she left me for another guy. I was pretty heartbroken for I'm a pretty romantic fella and as far as I knew I did nothing to deserve a break-up. Anyways, I was heartbroken and for some reason I just started writing and writing and writing. It felt really good to get my feelings out, it helped me cope better I guess you can say. I then found this site via Google. Wanted a nice love quote that fit what I was feeling. I got attached to the site, made a profile, and here I am almost 3 years later and I'm a Moderator.
    how old were u when u wrote ur first poem
    18
    are u married,single,dating
    Single
    have children
    No
    and last for now have u ever wanted to go sky diving?
    Yes I have thought about it many times, but never had the chance to go.
    For all the mods....Who are your favorite professional poets and why? What are your other hobbies (besides P&Q)? Who are your favorite bands/musicians?
  • Italian Stallion
    17 years ago
    Who are your favorite professional poets and why?
    Not really sure to be honest, there are so many wonderful professional poets out there, that it is just so hard to choose. However, I must say I like William Shakespear, he was a master at writting Romantic poetry in such an artfull way.
    What are your other hobbies (besides P&Q)?
    My name is Joe for those of you who don't know me. I am 21 years old and I am curently in my 3rd year of college studying Business Managment. I love to draw, mostly with pencil, but I do, do other
    mediums. I love photograhy as well, I have an SLR camera and I am really like it a lot. I love the outdoors, camping, walking, etc. I play the Acoustic and Electric guitar, piano and Keyboard. Basically anything that deals with Art I like, especially the Ladies :)
    Who are your favorite bands/musicians?
    Well I love County Music, and my favorite musicians are: Tim Mcgraw, Faith Hill, Kenny Chesney, John Michael Montgomery, and many many more.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Joe..have you travelled in the last year?

    Yes, I have, this summer I went to Italy for 3 weeks, I do have pictures of it, actually lots of pictures, I haven't had time to put them on the website I made, but I will eventually.

    What in your opinion is the most successful form of government?

  • PnQ Mod Account
    17 years ago

    Debbylyn - Who are your favorite professional poets and why?

    Robert Louis Stevenson - I grew up with a book of his poems and I think that is what really got me writing at such a young age.

    Helen Steiner Rice - Her works inspired me to not be afraid to share my faith in my writing.

    What are your other hobbies (besides P&Q)? - I love animals and collect pretty much anything animal related, I love taking pictures, nothing good enough or serious enough to be called "photography" though.

    Who are your favorite bands/musicians?
    I love Country as well! YAY JOE!! My absolute favorite is Tim McGraw... but I love too many of them to name.
    ---------------

    eLISabetta - what do you look like? 5'3", brown (or red when I dye it) shoulder length hair, brown eyes, freckles, glasses

    does your husband know about this site? yep

    -------------------

    vikki tia belle - What in your opinion is the most successful form of government?

    yikes, I don't know... probably the one our (U.S.A) Constitution intended had it not been usurped (taken over) by the Judicial Branch

  • Italian Stallion
    17 years ago

    What in your opinion is the most successful form of government?

    Mod's have you ever wanted to tell Janis off?

    Absolutly, there have been many times I felt the need to tell him off, but never did, however; we have tried suspending his account once, didn't work so we suspended Dainz account, which was later restored by Janis, it was one of the only ways we got his attention.

    These question are for all the mods.

    If you could visit one place in the world where you've never been where would that be and why?

    Where is someplace you've been that you would like to return to?

    If you could have dinner with 3 people dead or alive who would they be and why?

  • PnQ Mod Account
    17 years ago

    ELISabetta: lol. no he doesn't write poetry... although he DID write me one poem... if I can find it, I'll share it with you, it was rather cute.

    dealth penalty - I'd prefer to not think about it... but if there IS a death penalty, then it should be upheld, maybe then it wouldn't be needed so much.
    ------

    illuminatix - Tasselhoff Burrfoot is from the Dragonlance books by Tracy Weis and Margaret Hickman
    ------------

    Cindy -
    If you could visit one place in the world where you've never been where would that be and why?
    Australia - for the animals and the accent :)

    Where is someplace you've been that you would like to return to? - Hawaii

    If you could have dinner with 3 people dead or alive who would they be and why?

    For fun - Tim McGraw, Billy Currington, Josh Turner - because they are HOT!! :)

    Surreally - My child self, so I can tell her that's it's ok to say NO.

    My parents as Teens, just so I can see what they were really like.

    My cat (if he could talk), so I can ask him what he's thinking when he stares at me like that!

    Seriously - hmmm, I really don't know... there are so many people that I think it would be cool to meet. From world leaders, to entertainment celebrities, to people I've met on here. I don't think I can choose just three. (yeah, I know, that's a cop out)

    Have any of you ever dated someone on P&Q and how did it go (did it work or not work)?

    How long do you think you will stay a MOD for on this site? Is it something you want to do forever til you cant type anymore or just for a bit...

  • Italian Stallion
    17 years ago

    Mods, if you could change one thing, just one thing on this site what would it be....remember ONE THING!!

    Well, If I could change one thing on this site, I would have to say, I would change the amount of fighting that goes on daily on the boards, and transfer all that energy into people learning and bettering themselves as poets.

    What do you think of the death penalty?

    I have answered that Question Before in this thread,

    http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/discussion/topic.html?topic_id=75888

    But if you don't want to go through all the trouble of going to that thread, here is my response.

    personally I don't agree with the death penalty, killing another to get "revenge" shall I say for another's death. It's just wrong, someone has to inject the lethal anidote, or push the botton for the electric chair; so theartically that person is killing another person, so they theartically speaking should be killed too.

    I happen to agree with a life sentance imprisonment without parole for the murders and killers, the high crimes sort of speak.

    Life Imprisonment with parole is for the not as hardcore criminals, ones that kill but kill because of instinct, etc.

    That is my outlook on it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If you could visit one place in the world where you've never been where would that be and why?
    I would honestly have to say, Paris, France.
    Where is someplace you've been that you would like to return to?
    Italy
    If you could have dinner with 3 people dead or alive who would they be and why?
    This is something I would have to really think about, I'm not really sure at the moment.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Have any of you ever dated someone on P&Q and how did it go (did it work or not work)?

    Yes I have. I didn't workout, for most of you know online relationships hardly ever work.

    How long do you think you will stay a MOD for on this site? Is it something you want to do forever til you cant type anymore or just for a bit...

    To be honest, I am not sure. Depends on a lot of stuff, But I'll say this, "I'm going with the flow." Whatever comes my way in future so be it. If I'm still a Mod on here Great, if not...well something must of happened down the road, it is hard to tell ones future for you never know the outcome.

    When was the last time you told that special someone in your life that you loved them? - about 15 minutes ago

    Is there someone on this site, you are dying to meet in person? - lots of them

    Is there anything you would want to change in your life? If you could go back and change it what would it be?

    I like Britt's answer, and that is usually my answer, too... but when I'm really honest with myself, I have to say yes, there is something I think I would change. However, it is too personal to talk about.. you might get the idea, though, if you look at the "sureally" section on my who i'd like to have dinner with answer.

    What are your views on teenage pregnancy?

    I don't necessarily think teens should TRY to get pregnant, but if it happens, I would advise any of the teens in my life to have the baby and keep it or give it up for adoption.

  • Italian Stallion
    17 years ago

    What's the silliest thing you cried about?

    Well to be honest, I'm not quiet sure, for everything I really ever cried about had a valid reason, and wheather or not it was silly isn't up to me to say, since anything and everything I cried about obviously wasn't silly, it was serious in some way, shape or form.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    When was the last time you told that special someone in your life that you loved them?
    Well, I don't have "that special someone" so it was a long time ago since I've last said that.
    Is there someone on this site, you are dying to meet in person?
    Of course.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Is there anything you would want to change in your life? If you could go back and change it what would it be?

    No. Everything happens for a reason. And by changing the past, you end up changing the present, So No.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    What are your views on teenage pregnancy?
    My views on teenage pregnancy...well, I dissagree with it first of all. Kids and teenagers should not be having sex...granted they do now a days anyways, but honestly if one is going to ingauge in such acts as sexual intercourse, at least practice safe sex, use a condom, birth control, etc. Anyways, teenage pregnancy, it happens all around the world, I dissagree with it, but if it happens, there is no need to put the person down. Help them through it, guide them, teach them, etc. I would also advise any teen in my life to put it up for adoption.
    -Oh heck, I find this one amusing so I'll answer it. Yes. YES! I have, because when i was younger, I went to a sushi bar and ate some roe (that's what they call fish eggs in Japanese terminology methinks) and I thought it tasted really good. I still like a good uni every once in a while.
    1. What makes you a good Mod?
    LOL... I don't know... you would have to ask my fellow mods that and the other members. I am sure that there are alot of members here who do not think that I am a good mod... Interesting though... what are your thoughts on it?
    2. Have you ever moderated other websites before or as well as this one?
    Not really, this is my first one.
    What is your current occupation?
    I am on disability due to a back injury. I hope to return back to work sometime within the next couple of years.
    What would you consider the hardest moment in your life, that you have had to overcome and how have you grown from it as a person?
    It is a toss up between me being married and me learning to live life once again after my divorce. Though my marriage was not healthy it was very hard to break away from and to overcome all the emotional stuff that was tied to it.
    What would you consider to be your greatest poem that you have posted on this site?
    Vigorous Tears
    What, if any religion do you belong to?
    I am non-denomination.
    If you were given a certain amount of money to give to one charity of your choosing what would it be?
    Victims of abuse.
    Why did you choose to become a mod?
    Because I love this site and I think that I can help it improve. I also enjoy most of the people on this site.
    3. I'd love to know what the Mods look for in a man/woman.
    Someone who is strong yet not overbearing. I need a man that is not afraid to go toe to toe with me; yet at the same time not push me around or allow me to walk all over him. I want someone that is fair and understanding who can make me feel safe and accept me for who I am and not what they think they can change me into
    Also, do you miss just being a normal member? Do you remember what that was like?
    Sometimes, but that is just part of the job.
    4. All mods, how did u come to find p&q. . .
    Just searching around about three years or so ago and found it lol
    how old were u when u wrote ur first poem...
    I was like five or six lol
    are u married,single,dating. . .
    No, and do not plan to any time soon.
    have children
    Yes, four of them ages nine to 16 my youngest is the only girl
    and last for now have u ever wanted to go sky diving?
    I would love too
    5. Sherry is that a recent picture of you?
    It is about two years old
    6. What do you think of the death penalty?
    I cannot say that I would agree to sentence someone to the death penalty. I do not think that I have that right. Only God should decide when it is your time to pass and I will never intentionally play God.
    7. If you could visit one place in the world where you've never been where would that be and why?
    Either Alaska or Hawaii maybe Jamaica. These are just places that I have dreamed to see since I was a little girl.
    Where is someplace you've been that you would like to return to?
    New York City. I loved it when we were there last year
    If you could have dinner with 3 people dead or alive who would they be and why?
    My Grandmother  ggma I miss her dearly and would love to embrace her once again
    My grandfather. He died when I was 16 and never got to meet my children. I would want to tell him once more that I love him and that he meant so much, and still does to me
    God and Jesus! I have so many questions for them and stand in awe. I cannot wait until I sit at the dinner table with them and can actually be embraced and hugged by our Lord in the physical sense.
    8. Have any of you ever dated someone on P&Q and how did it go (did it work or not work)?
    No, I have not
    How long do you think you will stay a MOD for on this site? Is it something you want to do forever til you cant type anymore or just for a bit...
    Only time can tell, but I do not plan on leaving anytime soon.
    9. what's the silliest thing you cried about?
    When I was pregnant with my first child my ex ate the whole box of Lucky Charms cereal. Not only did I cry, but I almost left him over it lol. Talk about hormones
    10. When was the last time you told that special someone in your life that you loved them?
    About thirty minutes ago
    Is there someone on this site, you are dying to meet in person?
    A few people actually
    11. Is there anything you would want to change in your life? If you could go back and change it what would it be?
    I would tell that special person that I love them and not hide my feelings.
    12. What are your views on teenage pregnancy?
    I had my first child when I was 17. Not to many people are able to have a family and take on that role at such a young age. I do not believe that teens should be placing themselves in a position to worry about such things; however, it does happen and when it does we need to offer them all the love and support that we can because it is very difficult for everyone involved.
    13. Have you ever eaten fish eggs? If so, why? WHY?
    Ew Nope, and I think I will go puke now at the mere thought
    Sorry that it took so long for me to reply; however, there are some personal issues taking place in my life that I have to attend to.
    What is the worst personal question somebody could ask you?
    What is the best?
    When was the last time you did something for the first time? What was it?
    Do you think my avatar could do with a change?
    What is the worst personal question somebody could ask you?
    There really isn't one that I can think of. Everything in my life has happened for a reason.
    What is the best?
    Anything about my children. My kids are my life and I love to talk about them.
    When was the last time you did something for the first time?
    LOL .... last night
    What was it?
    My father is ill and in the hospital at this time. I am spending every moment with him around the clock. Last night my mom had finally just crashed from exhaustion and my dad took another spell with a high fever.
    I could not get my mom awake and I ended up kicking her legs until she moved so that me and the medical staff to get to daddy without tripping.
    I told her about it this morning and we both just laughed. She felt so bad for sleping through it all, and I felt bad for kicking her.
    Do you think my avatar could do with a change?
    I think so... but the actual question is what do you think....
    Okay next questions
    I asked about what charity, i would now like to know why you choose that charity
    Favourite poem on this site (not your's of course)
    Now this question is purely based on making me laugh because i ask many people over the internet and have a good chuckle at some of the responses but what do you think/imagine i look like?
    Reflecting back on your life who is one person who stood out in a positve way and shaped, inspired and influenced you, and one person who stood out in a negative way as doing the same thing. (you don't have to say their name or anything more their relationship to you i.e partner, mother, teacher and how so)
    Are you completly different in person compared to who you present as over the internet (not that we can truely know)
    Personal experience with domestic abuse. My ex husband used to beat me and my children.
    I cannot say that I have one. There are very many talented writers and each have touched me through their poems in one way or another.
    I am hoping you look some what human... but in all honesty, I have never thought about it and now that I do... I don't know
    My grandmother and my mother are the two strongest influences in my life. These are two wonderfully strong women that anyone would be lucky to know and I am double blessed to have had them in my life.
    My exhusband is a negative influence... but we all know why already so no need to go there again.
    Actually, I am the same whether in person or online.
