    It's Your World Now

I do not know this place,
Where we have come to be,
It's all so strange and distant,
    Like a haunting melody.

One day the path was clear,
    The sun was shining bright,
    Now we're drenched in darkness,
    Drowning deep in night.

I thought I'd take you with me,
But you don't want to leave,
    And now I question everything,
    I ever did believe.

    Lost here in sweet misery,
    You've made your bitter home,
    Drained of all your sweetness,
    Through loneliness you roam.

My world is somewhere out there,
    So I must say goodbye,
A kiss upon your tender lips,
A tear falls from my eye.

I hope you find your way,
    Before it's much too late,
My love is sitting in the wings,
    But time will never wait.

    Somebody

    Somebody laughs, others may smile
Closet skeletons lurking, all of the while.
Somebody thinks they know you, others may try
For better or worse till the day that you die.

    Somebody promises, intentions to keep.
Haunted by memories while you lay asleep.
Somebody wonders if they made the right choice.
Thoughts running wild, can you hear that voice?

    Somebody regrets, others move on.
Finding the strength when all else is gone.
    Somebody prays, confession in tears
Wasted my time all of these years.

    Long Road Out Of Eden

    Daughter of Eve,
    Why do you cry?
    Why do you hang,
    Your head in reply?

    The serpent is sliding,
    Slithering near,
    To feed on your doubt,
    And feast on your fear.

    Drink of sweet reason,
    Please come to see,
    The sins of your mother,
    Belong not to thee.

    No More Cloudy Days

    Lord's word fulfilled
    Since I was called home
    My task now complete
    No more time alone

    Light replaces longing
To set my soul at ease
    Our reunited love
    Is carried on a breeze

    Divine Spirit and guidance
    Erase the lonely nights
    Now dwell with each other
Ending a long and painful fight

    Eternity of peace
    Warmed by God's loving gaze
    Shroud of gloom now lifted
    No more cloudy days

Ahhh, I forgot about the "I" part in the title. I hope it's okayyy...? Lol.

    Dreamed There Was No War

    This is for the child,
    who dreamed of being someone.
His dream of becoming a hero -
he'd get it in the long run.

For the young man who made it,
it's what he wanted all his life.
He'd dream of fighting for his country,
    leaving behind his future wife.

For the soldier who fought loyally,
    though remorsefully taking lives.
    His childish dreams vanished,
    crumbled right before his eyes.

For the man who barely slept,
    clinging his rifle faithfully.
    But tonight he only dreamed,
    of his once happy family.

This is for the fallen soldier,
who cried on the cold, hard floor.
Tonight he was a child again,
and he dreamed there was no war.

I felt like I actually accomplished something. I haven't written a NEW NEW poem in a while. Lol.

No More Walks In The Wood

    by NyellMoonlight

Facet of extravagance etched on heart's brightness,
enchanting hurricanes mixed with detailed malediction-
No more walks in the wood of symbols and scars,
no more memories of eradicated aromas.

Endless sad song's replaying behind cracks in thoughts
painting over unvisited realms and their red moons-
No more walks in the wood of delicate optimism,
no more gatherings beneath purple comets.

My inner sanctum lost complicated emblems of warmth
as a quiet voice sung gentle, unfinished lullabies...
No more walks in the wood for me and you,
no more sunsets that define the word "home".

What Do I Do With My Heart? (Double Triolet)

Recalling happier memories in the past
Inner pain raging like an angry river
Incredibly naive to think we would last
Recalling happier memories in the past
Mistreated my heart, shattered like glass
Thinking of sweet kisses, tremble and shiver
Recalling happier memories in the past
Inner pain raging like an angry river

Now I'm sitting with tears in these eyes
Tell me, what do I do with my heart?
For you broke it in pieces with selfish lies
Now I'm sitting with tears in these eyes
    Used me shamelessly, now realized
World's become colorless, grey and dark
Now I'm sitting with tears in these eyes
Tell me, what do I do with my heart?

    Triolet-Consists of 8 lines.
    The 1st, 4th and 7th line repeat.
The 2nd and 8th repeat as well.
    Rhyme scheme is abaaabab

I Don't Want To Hear Anymore

Tainted words falling from your lips
Realizing once more you've been caught
Anger sweeping quickly through my veins
Nothing compares to pain you've brought

Chance after chance, yet always mess up
It's like you don't know what else to do
Constantly screwing up everything you can
Not caring that every time, it leaves me blue

Wasted so many sorrowful tear filled nights
Waiting anxiously for you to arrive home
Mascara staining my already wet pillow
As I wondered if I'd be better of alone

Probably thought I'd never find the courage
To finally be strong and decide to leave
Well guess what darling, you were wrong
And now I'm finding it easier to breathe

Finally knowing, don't need you in my life
For all you ever caused was untold woe
Know now I'm strong enough to do this alone
And I don't want to hear your lies anymore

    How Long

    How long will it take me to forget about you;
To erase all the memories I still hold onto?
To forget about the love that I thought I had -
To live my life happy, not always sad.

How long will I hold onto these empty hopes -
These broken dreams won't let me cope.
You're gone and there's nothing for me to do -
Sometimes I wish I never met you.

Broken hearts and dreams are so over rated -
It's killing me slowly and I absolutely hate it.
Why can't I be just like everyone else,
Who keeps their hearts high above on some shelf?

How long will I hold onto these stupid feelings?
How long will it feel like I'm constantly dreaming?
How long will it take me to forget about you?
To erase all the memories I still hold onto?

    Center of the Universe (Acrostic)

    by NyellMoonlight

Crimson petals lay in dark, plunged in droplets of ice,
Essence of this night lingers under the skin
Nocturnal odes allure me with champagne kisses,
    Tearing apart treasured universe's core,
    Endlessly beating within ruby heart,
Resurrecting memories and traces of dying sadness.

Ornamented sky glisten within my eyes,
Fragrant black butterflies tattoo desires on skin.

The whole world's between you and I now,
    Hesitations are recasting into fuming fires;
    Emerald reflections mesmerize united spirits.

Under the moon weaved with purified illusions
Notorious fears collide with warm passion,
Intricate disguises melt under devoted gazes,
    Vanishing and filling the soul with divine rhapsodies;
Ember's pulsing, nested within tired palms,
Reminiscing on ceramic facets of visualized sanctums.
    Sweetness blossom with delicate cravings,
Ecstasy's filling center of the enchanting universe.

Frail Grasp on the Big Picture

Cigarette smoke swivels throughout the empty room,
And the air is tainted with a bottle of cheap perfume,
As she stands in the mirror, readjusting her miniskirt,
Drinking in the sight: fishnet stockings and a belly shirt.

Her eyes are bloodshot red as she walks out the door,
Feeling better than she`d ever felt in her life before,
And the gents near the bar all turn their stare her way,
As she stands in the doorway; they find the words to say.

The light beams down on her bright blonde hair,
And there`s talk of a heartbreak in the crisp air,
Her blue eyes shine with the hurt from her past,
And her self - control is fading behind too fast.

She swallows her pride as she orders a round of drinks,
Ignoring all of the useless catcalls and the winks,
He`s become just another notch in her belt,
And she`s looking for a feeling she`s never felt.

In room 206, she loses her rationality in the dirty sheets,
Listening as a strangers heart starts to heavily beat,
Dying in his arms, she forgets who they once were,
Holding onto her frail grasp on the big picture.

    Last good time in town

Kids of the seventies turned to teens of the eighties
Just good kids, far from gentlemen and ladies
Cruising through the streets of our little hometown
Tailgate in the parking lot, everyone gathered round

We were dirt floor poor and no plans for any college
Learned it all listening to Hank's profound knowledge
Jealous and Rebellious with the world at our feet
Trips to Redneck Riviera and dancing in the street

Senior trips, pep rallies, and hometown football games
Thought we were invincible, but, oh how times change
Priorities changed from Jordache jeans and all night skates,
To muscle cars, prom dresses, and first dates

Def Leppard, and White Lion were topping the charts
Saw the Scorpions in concert singing about Gorky Park
Poison sang the love song "every rose has its thorn"
Martha Quinn on MTV and the "House of Hair" was born

Looking back now at how things used to be
Treasuring each friendship and every memory
Those were the good times, I've realized that now
Each and every night was the last good time in town
