HELP PLEASE!

I have 4 gold rings, and everyone of them turn my fingers a dark green color. I can also take my rings off, and 'write' on my hands...I have recently heard that this can be caused from anemia. Is this true? I do have other signs of anemia, as I have looked this topic up. But does anyone else have this same thing? At times it is really embarassing, and most people say that my rings arent 'real' gold, because sometimes they get marked wrong. But what is the chance that 4 rings that belong to the same person would be marked wrong...? I really want to get this figured out.. so if anyone can help, that would be great! :D

Relax. I have anemia, and it isnt as big of a situation as you think it is.

Any discoloration is chemical. Either from you, the ring, or something you have come in contact with. Basically it is almost guaranteed to be a 'chemical ' problem. The metal is reacting to something, either an outside chemical or one from the persons body. Every persons body chemicals are different and certain combinations of materials react with one another. It is not a simple cut and dried explanation, but some of the reasons are listed below but in no particular order.

    Lower karat golds, ( 9k , 10k ), have more copper alloy.
After potato chips, Doritos, and other products with lots of salt and preservatives it could be a chemical reaction from the body eliminating these wastes. Perhaps a mild nitric acid is being produced by the body.
A trace of polishing compound is still present. Wash with hot water and dish soap.
Sterling silver not only reacts differently on different individuals, it can react differently at different times on the same individual, depending on their body chemistry at the time.
Some people react after having Italian food, or more specifically garlic and other spices.
Some prescription drugs change the body chemistry and may react with metals.
Chlorine should always be avoided. Don't swim with rings or jewelry on.
The jeweler will quench in a pickle after soldering the piece. This can lead to entrapment of acid within the metal which is not removed by water or even an alkaline bath., but can leach out after it is worn. Then you might want to buffer.

    Hope that helps.

I looked up anemia, and sometimes it is a big thing. There are many different types of anemia, some serious, and some not so serious. It all depends on how long you let it go with out medical help, or the type it is. But no where in any of the articles i have read does it say "discoloration of fingers from gold rings" lol.. so i guess that isn't what is causing it! thanks guys! but i think that i might go in and get checked for anemia, because it was really crazy as to how many signs i have. Almost alarming... but thanks everyone!

I had anemia, and my skin was rather pale and i was fainting and blacking out all the time and became really weak and lost a lot of weight. not good so strongly advised if you are adament you have it to go to the doctor and take a simple blood test to find out.
