you care that much about getting voted ones? maybe your poetry isn't as good as you think. but if you think it's good than that's all that should matter. quit complaining about the the same stupid shit.

Sorry, Morgan, but if you couldn't care less about votes, why did you start this thread up?

It seems like everytime you start a new thread, it's complaining about how "bad your poems are, and how the site should be changed to make them better."

VOTES DO *NOT* (bold/italic/underline) MAKE A POEM GOOD OR BAD!!!!! Your poem is as good as it is. Votes only determine what other people think about it. If I don't like Edgar Allen Poe's work (Which I DO. He's one of my fave poets), that doesn't mean his poetry is bad. That's just how I see it... However, if you're getting a lot of 1 votes, either you have a lot of enemies, or your poems really aren't that good, and, being able to see who voted a 1 on your poem really isn't going to help. In fact, that would just create more animosity on the site, than there already is.

So you propose having a system so you can see who's voted on your poems... why? So you can get back at them? I think the voting system is fine the way it is. I personally, don't like it, but so much rides on votes on this site (Weekly winners, and top-rated poems and such) so, kill votes, and you kill that.

I think its a great idea ... it would be good to know who thinks what of your poems ... and that way we know who's voting low for revenge, or simply because they can... and those that actually mean their vote. Excellent idea.

It`s a terrible idea, and here is why...when everyone can see what everyone else voted, no one will have the guts to vote lower than 4, even though voting is still a bad thing anyway. If no one likes your work, screw them. YOU are the one who writes what is in your heart and mind, and no one can rate that. Here is one vote to get rid of the voting system!!

I agree with Morgan, who cares what anyone thinks? And I include myself in that statement.

but if you don't care why do you make tons of threads complaining about your poetry being rated bad?

I have a few personal friends on this site-who by the way I think are excellent poets-but sometimes there's a poem which isn't as great, and I want to rate it a 3 or a 4 instead of a 5. If they could see my vote-that would influence me to always vote 5's just because your poetry is a personal part of you-and some of my friends would feel betrayed if I didn't give them 5's. Personally I think the voting process could hurt a little so wouldn't be horrible if taken out, but then again the site does rely on it-therefore there isn't much to do about it. Well just my 7 cents...

I don't know... i agree with both sides, I like to see how many people vote, and what they vote. I have gotten 3s on my poems, which I dont complain, if someone thinks its a 3, thats their opinion, thats why I came to this site. I think that its good the way people are limited to vote only once on a poem, and I believe thas a good thing. I think the site is just fine. Great job!

    Morgan said:

"the main purpose for this idea was to help the moderators out to find a consisitent way to stop revenge voting or non-reading votes"

first, moderators have no power over who votes what and dealing with people who vote bad... if we could see who was doing it, all we could do was say, "Now, Lydia, be a good girl and stop rereatedly voting people 1's!" (that was just a for instance, I hope Lydia can take the teasing) but anyway, what good would that do... just make her want to do it more.

2nd, that's originally what the voting timer was for...to keep people from doing rapid fire 1's on a poem. But Janis said he had a way of tracking voting history and see if there was malicious voting...

    so anyway, back on topic:

I don't think I'd want to see who voted what... sure I like having high rated poems... but comments should really be what matters....
