We Will Remember Them.

There seems to be a lot of bitching going on at the moment. I presume some of you still write poetry...

I wondered if anyone has ever written anything specifically in remembrance of the war dead?

My entire family is in the military. They have all fought for this country at one point or another. I am honored they have. I have many friends who have fought, and a very close friend who has passed away. So i would like to say thank you to all.

And im not sure its gods will for our sons and daughter and brothers and sisters and dads and moms and aunts and uncles and teachers, and doctors and nurses, or any one else, to be killed fighting for our country.

Ed.....It is a great poem.....and how sad it is that so many young lives have been cut short.

This is perhaps the hardest time of the year for me.

The only military poetry I can digest is the trench poetry of WW1. No offense to any writers here but unless you've been there you can't explain it. I tried writing about it and ten years later it's still just too hard.

I will leave this conversation with one request.

Regardless of your political opinions about Iraq, Afghanistan or any other military action in the past present and future, it has been, is being and will be for one reason: To enable or maintain the safety and freedom of those unable or unwilling to fight. They fight for you, and me, so next time you see a vet in the street just say thank you. It's more than they want but no less than they deserve.

If you've been there you'll know why I can't sleep tonight, if not, well, you'll never understand.

    Solidarity.
