So, I was watching this thing on the History Channel about the Bible, and the new text that's been found recently dating back to the late BC. Apparently, what is in the Bible that is most commonly used today was chosen to be in the Bible, and there are some texts that were left out because they were offensive to christianity, or something. I'm not really sure how to explain it, but it was sooooooo cool. They mentioned Soloman, and who he really was, and that he controlled demons and used their powers. It's pretty wicked. Did anyone else see it? And what do you think? If there was text left out of the Bible that's used now, should it be re-incorporated into the Bible? |

Yes u are absolutely right that u cant put it without offending someone..caz u got an arguement commin to ya!! never ever compare the bible to freaken chinese wispers..it has not been changed around and for you to stop being a christian because u dont understand the bible and stuff is rediculous. if u question god's word and dont believe in him u are goin to go to hell..there's no other way to say it and im not going to sugar coat it for u. point blank u are going to burn in hell for an eternity..so u need to talk to ur precher or something and get ur life situatated on what u believe and dont believe because once you have chosen what u believe in that's it..so i mean its ur life its ur opioion im just letting u kno something..hope u dont take this to offense!!! ha ha |

^-^ im not offended :D i chose to believe in science. Although some things cant be explained by science such as supernatural happenings but i still believe that there is some thing there we cant see so its much like God, you can see God you cant hear God but you still believe that Gods there which i respect in every way. |

The thing is, there were texts from before the Bible was made about Christ, and who he worshipped, and such. Christians from about 400AD decided to say that Soloman controlled demons and that Christ wasn't all that holy was way against their beliefs. They didn't exactly change anything, but they left important texts out that are now being found, they dated back to before Christ, and during Christ's alleged existance. What I want to know is, if these were supposed to be in the Bible, were important, but left out, buried for 2000 years, and forgotten, now that they're re-discovered, will it change the Bible, and should it? |

I dont think you can just change what is clased as a holly book. In my opion the worlds been played enough with by religion. I think information going into a religion would upset some serious believers because it will be different from what they have been preached. |

I'm always confused by the "If you question the Bible then you go to hell" logic. Wouldn't a loving God want to be believed in by people who've actually built their trust on a solid, reflective basis, rather than people who hold to a compulsorily belief, thinking that they must believe simply out of fear of punishment? |

I think most people stay out of it, because it's not a new topic by any means, and most of the mods and folks who have been here for a while have already shared their thoughts. I'm thinking I should follow their lead... it's just... I see a really sad, illogical opinion and I'm drawn into it. Blah! |
