I'm sorry, not to be a bitc* or anything, but how can you have been a goth for 7 years and be 13? That means that you have been goth since the age of six. I don't think you even KNOW what goth is when you're six.

And what makes you think you are weird? Surely not just the way you dress? Because in todays multi-cultural society almost nothing is strange clothes wise...certainly not lots of black...maybe a complete absense of clothes.

What i find amusing about Goths is that in their[your] struggle to be different, they end up just like every other Goth....now that is weird.

Goths scare me, no offence, but they really do. I am sooooo not a goth thou i do wear quite a bit of black clothing. Never dress in too much black thou, don't wanna be mistaken for goth and scare myself.

I am not a punk, I seriously hope you guys have something better to do than make me explain myself ALL THE DAMM TIME! I wear safety pins on my bag, and my hoodie, because I want to. Whether you think that's punk or not, I really don't care.

I was considering explaining myself for a while there, but I decided against it, and the next time you call me a "teeny bopper" I will cut off a thumb. I am not some damm kid trying to be what everyone else is or isn't. I'm myself, labeled a goth by others, and I don't listen to the right music or even act like a punk. I act exactly the same as I do before I started wearing black. People just see black and assume goth, so when someone asks if I'm a goth its easier to say yes.

But really, I could care less what you all think I am, I am me, not who you want me to be.

I don't think anyone was necessarily pointing fingers at you, btw. I think it was just a bit of amused angst at "posers" who actually place a lot of self-identity into considering themselves "goths" because they wear black.

Personally, outside of the thumb cutting, I think you've got a healthy attitude about your self-image. Too bad others only see the black and assume.

People label me as 'Goth skater' as well...dont ask me...but poeple here in france are so focused on people's appearance it's reallt freaky...But i think this whole label thing is bullshit. I mean, just be yourself and that will do...

i never can understand the whole goth trend. why do you wear all black? i just don't get it. what do you accomplish by wearing all black? perhaps the idea that you are somehow more intelligent, depressed, and rebellious than others...that you are unique to this society and stand for nonconformity.... i don't get it because all goths are exaclty what they hate. goths contradict themselves everytime a word comes out of their mouth and everytime they buy a new shirt from hot topic. everytime they listen to slipknot.

anyway., this sums everything up.

By wearing all black and listening to rock music like all the other "unique" and "interesting" kids do, you are being like everyone else, therefore you are the ones conforming. So before you go to bed, set out your over-priced "one of a kind" Hot Topic bought outfits, pop in your slipknot cds and sleep well knowing that everyone will like you more now because of your shocking style and rebellious attitude.

well, i think goth is just a lifestyle, i wouldn't advise it, but it's for people who are suited by that type of lifestyle, i am, but i chose not to be a goth because i would rather try to find some joy in my life than all this bad shit that has already ruined it

being goth is more then just wearing black and all tht crap. Its the feeling. More so its what you want it to be, there are goths who wear all kinds of colors and are in all kinds f groups, i think that some people just need to get a life. One of hte main reason i like being "goth" is becasue i like to stand out, do things others find adnormal or weird> When i go somwhere and people get scared just by looking at me thats awsome. I lvoe it,people fear what they dont understand, goth is a way that you can be yourself, no matter what. Noone has to be someone they aren't when their goth, they dont have to be a poser. Thats why i am goth.

Anyway, goth is a state of mind, not something that incorporates the following:
Cutting
Wearing dark clothing
Being depressed all the time
Piercing every inch of skin on body
or whatever else you can think of.

People call me gothic for one reason: the way I think. I am one of the few people in my group of friends that sees a dark side to ust about everything. It's called looking at the whole picture.

How can you enjoy a whole painting by looking at the small corner of it?

I dress how I want. I wear my hair all I want. And the next kid in the mall that calls me a poser is getting a penci lodged in their eye. I bet most people who call others posers are unsure of their own identity. Well I've found mine. I am me. You don't like it, tough, call me what I am. Don't insult me with a poser label. Don't tell me where I can or can't shop for my clothes. Don't tell me how to wear my hair. Don't tell me what color to wear. Or be prepared to get snapped on.

This thread is full of, not posers, but people who are too unsecure with themselves to keep their damn mouth shut and let people be themselves.
